You wouldn't even have to rotate it. Plenty of room for a 50,000-60,000-capacity stadium there on the same orientation as the current one.

what is it in that area at the moment SS57?

can't say I've ever gone that way up the High Road.

A trading estate takes up the bulk of the site, with a few houses thrown in for good measure!

How did you draw a line RSS?

In paint?

:rofl:dont know why, but i found that really funny.

technology these days.

Surely transport would need to be sorted before a decision is made on where we end up - i thought thats why we wanted to relocate.

Can i just ask why we would rotate the pitch? Does anyone know the optimum orientation for daylight in stadiums.

If we shift the stadium into the blue box on RSS diagram the park end will end up the paxtonEek

I would prefer if the new stadium could be built where I have shaded above. I think that this is the most viable option due to the Victoria Line being very close by.

Does anyone know if this land is protected s it is in close proximity of the reservoirs?

TWO PAXTONS ROADS! There's only TWO Paxton Roads!

so we'd have to evict some chaff and throw some businesses out on their arse?

The houses are the 1930s semis at the north end of Worcester Avenue and we have, it seems, made approaches to owners already. The ones on the High Road north of N17 Studios are all listed Queen Anne, Georgian and Regency and can't be touched.

We still have to buy up the sheet metal works and Jehovah's Witness Hall on Paxton Road (the sheet metal works' owner is, I think, the one reputed to be a big Gooner), never mind the trading estate.

First post so please go easy!!!

I would suggest that the club wants to have a site with no pubs or kebab shops etc. in close proximity. They want you to buy drinks and food off of them. They don't want others getting fat off of them do they?

The land being purchased around the ground may be a) to allow for expansion or b) should this not be possible making the site more desirable and hence more valuable to a potential developer? Could get a few houses on there or a supermarket?

all the kebab/food shops and pubs will follow Tottenham. we dont need to look at the services and let that influence where we move to.. the only service we should consider is transport, all the other services and shops will follow after the new stadium has been built

I'm not suggesting that the club need to go to places where there are shops/pubs but places where there are not.

Spurs want you buying a Spurs pie and Spurs pint not one where others make money. The Emirates is a good example, there are pubs etc. close by but the imediate surrounding area and inside the stadium is all club official food and beverages, hence making the club more money.

:stupid:

How will they 'follow' Tottenham? :duh:

Most of the pubs and food outlets along the High Road rely on matchday custom for survival. Move away from the present site and a lot of them will go to the wall.

They are on leases. The same people can open shops near the new ground, if they have been smart with their cash. If not, fuck 'em.

The land north of Paxton seems favourite and it's actualy nearer to White Hart Lane and the Kebab shops but I'd miss the Park Lane.

I mean; We're the Northumberland Park we're the Northmberland Park we're the Northumberland Park White Hart Lane doesn't flow like we're the Park Lane ' does it.

BTW if it's important that we don't leave the area then it's important that we stay in Tottenham not Haringey.

Did you watch that article on the Woolwich I linked to yesterday?

The main thing we need is to get on the same side as the local council and the local businesses - The Woolwich promised that they would donate a lot of money towards redeveloping the local area and transport links, which was one of the key points of them getting the OK to build their new place.

If we move the stadium and just expect the rest of the area to relocate itself around us then we'll make more enemies than friends - to say we only need to concentrate on the transport is tough again - without the backing of Haringey we have no chance of convincing TFL to improve the transport in the area, let alone extend the Vic line, as has been proposed BY Harringey.

It's a case of help each other out - they use our new stadium proposal as a good argument for TFL to consider extending or improving in the area, we use the possibility of these improvements to justify the spend on a new stadium. Don't forget - a lot of the people to make the key decisions for the local borough are the people who live in the local borough - we don't want to piss them off by appearing aloof or selfish.

52k was supposedly the biggest we could build due to safety regulations regarding the current transport situation at WHL.

Why only 52? What was this info outlet re regulations?
Emirates stands at 60 whilst the transport connections and infrastructure in the immediate area is of less capacity than it would be at the Lane.

I don't see how that's the case. Within the equivalent distance from WHL to Seven Sisters Tube, The Emirates has Finsbury Park, Drayton Park, Gillespie Road, Holloway Road, Archway, and Highbury and Islington Stations. So, there's a choice between Piccadilly, Northern and Victoria Lines in addition to various Overground lines. The car and bus situations are as bad as at WHL, but the rail connections are far superior, even before TFL gives preference to Emirates games over WHL, when deciding when Victoria line works are undertaken.

I'm pretty sure Drayton Park isn't open on matchdays, AG, and Holloway Road can only be used by arriving supporters, not departing ones (or is it the other way round). That said, the Death Star does still have the edge when it comes to rail and tube links.

Drayton Park isn't open on matchdays. It WOULD be open on matchdays, if the Woolwich kept their promise to TFL and the local area :|
