You ain't got a clue mate with respect.

We was bigger than both Man C and Chelsea for most of history and competed with Man U (heard of gazza) and regularly beating the Transfer record.

I think Levy needs to jog on once our capex projects are done and we need to go back to becoming a football club first. Another net transfer surplus is a piss take.

We used to have the biggest sponsorship deals - why ? Because we competed.

Mate. We stopped competing when Mr Scholar used our resources for his personal business interests...and it went tats up. To add to the woe, yes, yes we did used to have the biggest commercial deals - until fans favourite El Tel Venables got rid of the marketing expert who went on to revolutionize that sector at Old Trafford - so he could get one of his Scribes West stooges in. Levy (building on the work of Sugar) has had to work to overcome this legacy.

Chelsea and then Citeh being gifted huge amount of other counties' peasants money is hardly the fault of anyone at our club - but has resulted in pushing us back down despite all of our hard work. If you exclude those two, we have halved the revenues advantage LiverScouse enjoy over us, in the last ten years. And the Goons took advantage of the extra revenues success was bringing them while we floundered thanks to this legacy, in the 1990's, to build a stadium etc. It's not just that that legacy left us with a lot to catch up, it allowed our rivals to to continue and increase their revenues advantage (and other advantages) over us while we were trying to catch up.

It's not what anyone wants to hear, because it is easier to believe things could be done faster and easier...if?!?! But it is the truth.

Genuine question with the CL and massive TV which cannot of been predicted when we started the stadium is that money not usable , Levy can't have gambled on getting CL football or a massive prem TV deal to fund the stadium move?

Wages is another factor with the relative success of CL football players wages are going up.

Anyone tell me if Trippier is injured or why he wasn't on bench?
Makes no sense if poch knew walker was unfit.
Weirdness :blackalien:
Seen a few people say this, but maybe Poch figured he could allow himself more tactical flexibility by using the option of Dier or Toby at right back if needed. They are both proven in the position after all.

Given the bonkers money that's being thrown around the last week or so, the £17m we spent on Janssen and £11m on Wanyama are starting to look freakishly awesome bits of business.

I've seen a few people here state something along the lines of "I'm happy to bring through youth but not in important games" and "we need top players on the bench as alternatives".

You can't have it both ways, if we had top quality alternatives on the bench then the youth players would surely never get any minutes.?

Last season when it was all going well everyone was happy with the idea of a team rather than a group of individuals but now that we haven't started so well that's gone out the window again and "ffs sign someone!!!"

Another thing is the Champions League money. It was my understanding that quite a lot of it will be used up in bonuses for the players that got us into it last season, also we get CL for one year but if we buy a player for £30M and £100K/week then that is for the full 5 years of their deal no?

youth players prove themselves in the cups or come on when we are dominating games I don`t want to see them in tight games against Liverpool etc..

I would imagines lot of the CL money has gone to pay for the use of Wembley and subsidise the tickets

Finishing in top 4 3 times recently, new training ground, having lost 2 world class players who are now in Real Madrids starting 11, golden boot winner last season and a new stadium being built isnt PR spin its fact.
And that mate is a fkin mahoosive improvement from where we were before ENIC so is it really that bad?
No they're not Abramovich or another sugar daddy but seriously I think you need to appreciate what they HAVE done. And look at clubs like Newcastle, Villa, Charlton, QPR, etc and be careful what you wish for.
I appreciate. Does it mean all good? Does it mean my opinions are not valid? I already said I expect 3 signings. If not then expect me to join the chorus. I somehow doubt that as signings will manifest.

So we seem to be selling a few back up players too? How are we gonna replace 3 players in 3 days?

Are people serious?

'We're in danger of being left behind'

'B-b-b-b-but we're in the CL!'

'Levy out, so tight fisted'

The PL has spent about £850m, about half of that has been spent by the Manchester clubs and Chelsea alone. It's becoming a flipping monopoly. On top of that Arsenal have now spent £80m, that means 16 clubs have make up 30-40% of spending. Also the 2 best mangers in the World just turned up.

How can anyone keep up with that?

I said this before 2 years ago, qualify for the CL and they will just keep on spending and spending until there is absolutely no chance of you qualifying again.

Our only hope is Poch and the academy in my honest opinion.

But we can't play them in the CL and we want to actually get to Wembley and win a pot again so realistically how many games will they get?
Games we are dominating? So they 15 minutes half a dozen times a season? But only one or two presumably?

I just don't see how that works. We've laughed at the likes of Chelsea and Man City for not playing their youth prospects but this is exactly why. I don't think Levy hired Poch to buy in expensive players. We will continue to grow our own and that means they will have to do their growing in important games.

What would we learn about them by bringing them on for 20 minutes when we're 4-0 up?

Man, some Spurs fans really are so bi-polar on this (and I don't intend to cause offense or demeaning the term). On the one hand, we are laughing at the Dildo Brothas and Lady (snigger) Brady, over at the Shitty of London Stadium, for announcing that they would buy a £20 million striker and then seemingly being prepared to overpay on a mediocre striker just to prove they were prepared to spend that sum or more; but on the other hand, it is being ignored/dismissed to the point of contributing to the negative outlook that seems to be pervasive all of a sudden, that Wanyama was a damned good purchase because he only cost half of what he probably would have if he had more time on his contract. Not to mention that Janssen could turn out to be the level of player that our fans spend hours moaning about us not buying while still at AZ and valued at £17 million, but waiting until he is at Dortmund and valued at £50 million.

LoL.

Becoming?

You raise some good points, but overall post is slightly pessimistic. We are not Stoke City or Middlesbrough. Or Everton for that matter.

Other teams around us seem to find the players they need.

No one is saying Janssen is a bad buy. We are just underwhelmed by nobody improving our first 11.

Once again we start slowly (albeit actually up on last season's slow start) and people are seemingly freaking out. Y'all need to chill the hell out and let the team come back together again, we all know what it can do when it settles down properly.
So true. Why were people so happy with the window a month ago?
