how about a 15m bid for adam johnson!? Would they sell him?? He would be an ideal signing, play on either wing.

I think Drogba is gettable but whether Chelsea allow him to sign for us in another thing. That post interview with Adebayor was fun! Maybe a hint?

I also think Torres is gettable!

Never seen Marin play but if he can play both wings then it'll be great!

Never been a better time to make a move for him - considering he's spent most of his time on the bench this season.

He signed a new contract recently IIRC

I honestly think Torres would get back to his old self with us, Torres and Marin would see me a happy boy, this Tevez talk for what he'd likely cost can he play anywhere up top or on the wings?

If we're paying out a huge fee then it makes commercial sense for a club with our current fiscal restrictions to go for someone with some versatility.

Is Tevez really still not able to speak English?

We didn't spend big when we got in the champs league, the Jan or last summer .... therefore's it's highly unlikely we'll a) spend a huge sum on one player (tevez) and b) vast sums on 2 or 3 players.

We've already proved that quality players can be signed for moderate amounts of money (Parker, VDV etc).

Additions such as Samba/Tasci, Marin, Podolski and Adebayor (permanently) would all be attainable without breaking the bank. Selling Bassong, Corluka?, Kranjcar or Pienaar, Dos Santos and Pavlyuchenko to balance the books.

Marin's one of the most inconsistent players I've ever seen. Plus he was nominated for Bundesliga's worst XI last season.

Most of you have only seen him play (admittedly, well) against us. But what you didn't see is the dozens of anonymous games he's had for Bremen. There's a reason he sits on the bench for them.

I think one of the Croatian Boys will stay just to keep Modric happy.
I'd rather Corluka but he's looking to go to Italy...maybe there's a player there that we can snatch too.

Is this Modric to Chelsea still a goer? Surely Modric must see how we are playing and doing well at the moment and that staying is better than going.
Both Chelsea and Man City has players that we want but not sure of they'll do business with us though.

Vertonghen is a good defender...

I would prefer Johnson!

I get the impression that Redknapp's hot for Tevez. Won't happen, but I get the impression he's got the horn for him.

You're right!!! He probably sees him as Dicanio!
I wouldn't disregard Drogba neither

With the meagre salary we pay compared to the other big clubs, any hope of a marquee signing remain just that...hope.

Realistically I would sign any 2 of the 3 Dems i.e. DembaBa, Dembele or Dempsey. Demba Ba would be a perfect replacement for Adebayor, and Dembele can play off him, while Dempsey can deputise for Bale or Lennon or Modric. These look like realistic signings, provided of course we offload the likes of jenas, kranky, pienaar, pav and maybe Hudd.

I people still unaware that we do not pay huge wages but pay very large signing on fees and agent fees to make up for that?

Adam Johnson signed a fat new contract a few weeks ago with City, definitely not for sale. Also I would never put him in the "special player" category.

The type of player Harry is talking about is a Pato, Kaka, Tevez, Sneijder type player ...world class who can win a game. Watching last night this is exactly what we miss, everything else screams potential champions except we do lack that one star...a last minute Stevie G wondergoal player or someone with a bit of that Cantona magic.

I think Harry wanted Tevez, but that deal will be almost impossible to do. Someone like Rossi would be awesome, can play on the wings or up top...much like the way Sturridge has been doing for Chelsea. Unfortunately Rossi is out till April with a knee injury.

My confusion is over if we could get someone like Kaka or Tevez who would drop out because everyone is doing well and no-one will want to be on the bench, especially not Ade or VdV

Drogba won't move in January and to be honest, I think Drogba's the best uber striker the EPL's seen and I have rated him very highly, but I'd rather keep Adebayor than Drogba on the down hill. I think Drogba will either stay at Chelsea or head off for a big payday somewhere.

how often does he feature , seems strange to commit yourself long term to the bench when you are so talented and so close to the England setup

i guess money is everything to the modern footballer
