Think you’re missing the point tbh we ( so does every team ) have players from all the major countries and we will have to start season without the players.

Pretty sure there is a 20 day rule after a major tournament players have to have off
OP specifically mentions England... and Belgium to be fair.

He actually puts “just say” in front showing it’s a example while alluding to others in the Denmark etc sentence.

Bigger picture is that it’s pretty stupid to be starting the season at that time

Isn't it because of the slow rearranging of the schedule ahead of the 2022 World Cup?
If only - they still haven't got the faintest clue how they're going to make all the schedules work with that, and most of the leagues would quite understandably rather it was just moved back to the summer and hosted somewhere other than a particularly corrupt desert.

Don’t think that will start till 2020. Will probably affect 4 seasons 2 before 2 after madness. Just seems for some reason WC finishes later this year.

Here's hoping for a 'spurs group' of Belgium, England, Denmark and South Korea to get a few of our lads home early :)

No idea why but just checked start date of 18//19 season. Was quite shocked it’s Aug 11/12 th. Always thought they pushed back start in World Cup year. The World Cup 1/4 finals are about 8th july. There’s a very real possibility England and Belgium could get there. That’s not even thinking about Denmark or Columbia or france. So just say England and Belgium that could cost us 9 players at start of season. What on earth would we do. Say they both went out in 1/4 that would most likely mean missing 3 PL games. As Wouldnt start pre season till Aug 1 st earliest. Obviously it couldn’t end up even worse.

Also if the stadium is ready they’d miss the 1st game. Which I’m sure would a bit gutting. Especially for likes of kane and winks. I guess we’d have to play the kids. But they might have tournaments themselves.

sorry I have to ask, why will they miss 1 or 2 games, even if any of our players involved get to the final? the final will be on 15th July and all it means is they won't have pre-season with us, but will hopefully be fit come KO of the season

What haha. How can Player come off his holiday with no pre season and just play.If England reached the final they have to have 3 week break. Then minimum 3 week pre season. So that would be sept1st, but will be more likely 20-25th August.

if they reach the final a good chance they would of played 6 games (as good as a pre-season, just not in 1 of our shirts), the only difference during their 3 weeks holiday is to have a good rest and keep their diets right.

arrive back a week earlier than the season kicks off and do a full weeks training, a bit like when they return from an injury.

it's going to be the same for all the top clubs so it's not only going to effect us

edit: thinking about it, they might be fitter than others due to playing competitive matches. the only prob might be if not rotated properly burn out, but yet again same for all teams

It just doesn’t work like that. Pre season is a very specific regime. To enable a player to cope with the season. TOB completed the U17 World Cup weeks ago. And has not been seen since as I imagine he is having to complete another pre season after the 3 week Rest .

If England reach the final. Blimey, I've seen people come up with some fantasies to stretch a point but that's the best by a long way :D

The reason it’s a specific regime is because players have had near on 6 weeks off doing sweet FA. The World Cup has been going on for quite some time now, they rarely move the start of the season
