Is Louis Saha available? Because compared with our striker business in this window, his signing looks like a master-stroke.

It would be the same as every time Kane isn't on the field. A team with no focal point, no one able to hold the ball up, and the team will be unable to keep possession and therefore will get penned in their own half.

It will be exactly like Stoke when Kane went off.
I would like to see us trying something new now we have speed. Drop off the pressing in the opposition half and let them come at us - that is going to suit N'Jie and Son, our current way of playing is going to make it hard for them though.

My take on the squad, for what its worth, is that we have made improvements defensively, we are a bit overweight in terms of attacking midfielders (I was expecting one or two to be loaned out), we can cope with DM just, hopefully Veljkovic can step up, but like Dier he is a better CB (IMO), and then we have Kane!
I don't like being negative about our management, and I include this in the widest sense of coaches and scouts, but to have just one recognised striker is....well for a team pushing on most fronts, and Kane just 22, and already looking tired, its not good enough really.
I have heard lots of people say there are others "who can do the job". All I can say to that is its a bit like Sunday morning football, when the main and only striker hasn't appeared at the car park, because he got wrecked the night before, and some one shouts out "Oi Charlie, you can play up front cant ya?". Its totally unprofessional in my opinion.
I got no problems with the youngsters, all for it, and wish one of our talented mfers was a striker. I think Coulthirst is injured, but was loaned out only until October anyway. Maybe he can be developed.
But it doesn't matter how you dress it up, this situation might bite us in the arse...and soon.

The way MP has us play, with slow play, no width and the striker isolated with 3 defenders on him at all times like limpets, I think it a hopeless task. Not even Shearer at his best, elbows and all, would prosper in that role.
And dare I say it, but I think Kane is at his best when he drops deep, winning the ball and playing intelligent through balls and shooting from distance - he is not a traditional no 9.

So 4-6-0 it is then or rather 5-5-0 with Dier the centre half. I guess as long as players are running into the box with intent, then it does not matter what you call them, but we need to rethink how we speed up play - a long punt down the middle will be coming straight back...

From that free transfers list that WiganSpur posted I think we should sign:

Carlos Costly
Cedric van der Gun
Dady
Toy

Obviously for no other reason than I like their names. Be great to hear them during match commentary.

Son, NJie, Chadli are not 'midfielders'. Neither are Eriksen or Lamela for that matter.

Its not 1987 anymore. 4-4-2. Defenders. Midfielder, Striker and thats your job. Jumpers for goalposts.

And anyway, im not the Spurs manager, but i reckon we will 'bung' Kane up front and see what happens. With other attacking options as a fallback. Or are you suggesting that we should have a 25m backup for Kane on the bench at all times.

I can think of no other professional football club that has a squad with a single recognized striker in their squad. Not one. We may not have jumpers for goalposts but we have makeshift strikers from midfielders.

If what you say is true why was Levy begging Pearce to sell his star stirker on the least few minutes of the transfer window? Or was he wanting Berahino to play right back?

@Gaz_Gammon

I'll await the list of backup strikers that Utd and Arsenal have.

Remember we can't list anyone who isn't an out and out striker..

Both

Both forwards, meaning the team has more than one. A more simpler way i cannot put into words.

Njie is a forward. Son is a forward. Chadli is a wide forward, as is lamela. Yes that's right.

And no I'm not really going to consider lamela as viable.

Now how about arsenals cover for giroud

I'm confident either Son or N'jie will look better up top than Soldado anyway so not too fussed who we class as the striker. I think it's more important we find other avenues to score goals from. If there is plenty of good movement amongst the attacking players then I'm sure we'll get plenty of chances as we did against Everton.

It really comes down to who can put the ball in the net :D

wilson and campbell? i cant believe im replying to this. welbeck and walcott are both good strikers too. jury out on all the others, especially our prospects. i think dembele has most of the tools to fill in especially in the el. no doubt his army of critics will explode at the mention of his name.

Wilson and Campbell. Serious.? But not asain footballer of the year son.. Or Njie?

And Walcott is no more a striker than the attacking players I've listed we have. Welbeck injured and less prolific than chadli

I didn't even list Dembele. Add him to the list. It's getting unwieldy.

Fuck it, bring in Del Piero.

We can help him earn his coaching badges and he can be similar to what Brad was while here; a mentor to the younger players and an ultimate back-up if needed.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/ital...reveals-coaching-plans-as-he-plots-retirement

I mean, the guys still has it, even at his age. He's admitted that European clubs have approached him, but nothing that has interested him.

Also, I would absolutely love to get a Spurs Del Piero kit
