Just out of interest:
Who are the most exciting up and coming english strikers? are there any?
Welbeck, Sturridge, Carroll, Wickham, Moses, ....
I've just named all the young english forwards i could think of.
Can anyone enlighten me of any more talents in the lower leagues/not yet broken into their prem teams yet?
Well you mention those closest to senior level.
Of the younger ones, our own Harry Kane is highly rated.
As is Arsenal's Benik Afobe. Both will play tournament for the England U19 later this month (Eurosports?)
There we'll probably also see Saido Berahino, who's scoring goals for fun at youth level as well as out on loan.
United fans brag about Will Keane, while Liverpool has a big lad in Michael Ngoo.
The big name "youngish" striker from the lower leagues is 22 year old scotsman Jordan Rhodes,
who'll be chased by most Premier League teams this summer after scoring 40 goals in 44 games this season.
Huddersfield have one game left, the play off final against Sheffield United, so he might get even more.
If they are promoted I guess it's likely he might remain with them.
All of these will probably become Premier League players,
but probably won't be top international strikers like Rooney.
It's difficult to see any superstars breaking through.
Don't know them very well, but these two have had good seasons:
Jay Rodriguez (22) - 15 goals for Burnley in the Championship
Gary Medine (21) - 18 goals for Sheffield Wednesday in League One
