Just out of interest:
Who are the most exciting up and coming english strikers? are there any?

Welbeck, Sturridge, Carroll, Wickham, Moses, ....

I've just named all the young english forwards i could think of.

Can anyone enlighten me of any more talents in the lower leagues/not yet broken into their prem teams yet?

Well you mention those closest to senior level.
Of the younger ones, our own Harry Kane is highly rated.
As is Arsenal's Benik Afobe. Both will play tournament for the England U19 later this month (Eurosports?)
There we'll probably also see Saido Berahino, who's scoring goals for fun at youth level as well as out on loan.
United fans brag about Will Keane, while Liverpool has a big lad in Michael Ngoo.

The big name "youngish" striker from the lower leagues is 22 year old scotsman Jordan Rhodes,
who'll be chased by most Premier League teams this summer after scoring 40 goals in 44 games this season.
Huddersfield have one game left, the play off final against Sheffield United, so he might get even more.
If they are promoted I guess it's likely he might remain with them.

All of these will probably become Premier League players,
but probably won't be top international strikers like Rooney.

It's difficult to see any superstars breaking through.

Don't know them very well, but these two have had good seasons:
Jay Rodriguez (22) - 15 goals for Burnley in the Championship
Gary Medine (21) - 18 goals for Sheffield Wednesday in League One

Anyone remember El Hamdaoui? Very out of favour at Ajax, would be available cheap, knows how to score goals, would be a good 3rd choice striker IMO

It would seem he has some attitude issues though, will he be satisfied as a squad player?
Also been without football for a season. Could be worth the gamble

Ba - very unfortunate, though the dodgy knee might have made us weary. As for the other 2 - not PL players ya see. Can't trust 'em.

I know what you mean, M...I look at poor old Ledder's knees and I positively get narcoleptic :eek::eek:

Disagree, KJH will score way more than Adebayor has...Ade should have scored 20+ this season with the amount of chances we gave him,

Fletcher is a class player, to be perfectly honest on a free this is a no brainer to me. He scores goals, holds up play well, wins balls in the air, would give us something on set pieces. Crouch with some dynamics. He can also play by himself or alongside a strike partner.

He did, if you count the goals he scored which were incorrectly disallowed for offside.

Agree with Fletcher, I would be very happy to sign him, on a free would frankly be taking the piss. A player who can head the ball and actually hangs around the six yard box would be nice.

Yep. Nice to see the Fletcher bandwagon gathering pace. He'd be a very good addition.

Why? What does he bring to the squad apart from a 70% CCC conversion rate? Obviously that is amazing in itself, but surely people dont expect him to come to spurs and be a 30 goal a season man? (i imagine a 70% CCC conversion rate would probably amount to around 30 goals at spurs)
I've never watched him play, not having a dig but am interested to know.

Anyone know what his CCCcr history is like, beyond this season? is it a one off, or has he been consistantly banging them in?

He is a strong striker. Not like Ade in terms of movement or general play but wouldn't be utterly useless in terms of the team's overall play like Defoe is. When Defoe plays, the entire shape/tempo of the team is affected and individually he is nowehere near good enough to compensate for that. At time we might as well be playing with 10 men.

He'd be 3rd choice fo sho but more effective, less of a liability than Defoe. Just me 'umble. Feel free to say I sux cox etc. :)

Juve are rumoured to be in talks with Higuain, could reignite our move for Damiao!

Seems like Inter are being right ****s to deal with. PSG will be the only club willing to gamble an eye-watering fee on an unknown I think.

This Leandro fella has the whiff of 25, fat and drunk back home at the Rio carnival about him. Happened to just as many Brasilian players as the success stories.

Those who see him regulary say he isn't that great with his back to the goal nor in the hold up role, poacher,
and his goal ratio isn't that excellent in the brazilian league - it's far from Adebayor's in the PL, about the same as VDVs.
Then again it's better than what Falcao had at River Plate.
Would like us to sign him, but do think Internacional are unreasonable in their demands.
It's a gamble to sign him, paying world class fee is a bit out of order

Can't disagree with any of that. He seems very cock-sure. Not in a good way either, for me. For the right price, take a punt. Paying fees and wages as though he's an established striker in one of the best leagues in the world, run.

Nah, I can see him just as easily getting to Yoorup, finding out his shit does actually stink and this isn't the Brasilian state championship and failing to adjust. Has he started learning a lingo yet? Spanish, Italian or English? His head drops, not got many people to speak to, hang out with etc.

Just doesn't seem to be going the right way about this move. Add to that, Inter asking ridiculous money for him.

If he has started to plan ahead then good for him. Enjoy Paris matey because PSG are the only club rich enough and interested to be able to write off £20m+ on a fee and a similar mount in wages over the course of a contract on potential.

You only pay so much for potential.

I don't think any Brazilian would have any trouble when you've got Sandro to hang out with!

Indeed. That would help if we somehow did end up with him.

Any word on Arouna Koné? There was some paper talk that we are interested on signing him. I think he's out of contract.
