It's not like flicking a switch, Spurger King. The manager and club captain are saying that there's a black cloud over the place, a lot of the supporters are up in arms and our two new signings are walking into a bit of a clusterfuck and can't be expected to perform miracles.

Whatever problem we're having at the minute is the same one that afflicted us for the final third of last season. We have begun the season in the same manner we ended the last one-flat.

I agree it is not like a switch but what i think spruger is eluding to is, how keane's arrival, he rallied the troops after some bad results, after winning 6 or 7 in a row

I think he means parkers arrival may do the same as keane's did, hopefully no golf trips:wink:

Exactly. New faces in the side...plus everyone knows where they stand (at least for the next 4 months). There is every chance that Parker and Adebayor will lift the mood at the club.

Not so much a switch as a breath of fresh air. Here's hoping anyway.

What you've got to take into account as well is that we have some very unhappy players on our books at the moment-just as we did last season (in my opinion).

I think we'd already sealed the Adebayor deal when Harry was heard to say that he had brought this current group of players as far as he could.

"I have said to the chairman that the place needs a little lift now. I feel I have got everything I can out of them now. We made one real signing in Rafa (van der Vaart) last summer. We need to freshen the place up a bit."

Were not in bad shape. We will suffer for not getting another top class centre back. We knew we needed one so deadline day deals for Cahill is a disappointing effort to secure one.

Bellamy probably makes Liverpool the favourite for 4th at the moment. If Redknapp can shape a balanced team from what we've got then it's possible we could get 4th.

If you take in to account that Adebayor speaking at 200mph is enough to make any man happy

On a serious note-I think the majority of our players are no longer responding to Harry's methods. And I'm not defending that. I think the lack of basic effort we saw against Man City last weekend was a disgrace.

That's pretty silly, not only is there a clear gulf in terms of player quality but there is an even bigger gulf in terms of manager quality, those are far bigger factors than morale and attitude.

I said "more to do with morale and attitude not the quality of players"

Obviously the manager ability is the biggest factor but he's responsible for all of those aforementioned factors isn't he???

As for player quality, they have more depth and better strikers but we can compete with them on the pitch given the right approach and the right attitude. How we compare to them is almost irrelevant as success in the premiership is about beating Bolton, Wolves, Wigan, Blackburn not Manchester United anyway.

I think Gallas even said that last season we turned up to those games against lower opposition expecting to win and that's where it went wrong.

Does this squad have the ability to finish 4th? Of-course it does! Do we have the mental strength? Determination? Happiness even? I'd say that's a definite no.

Correct.

"Even if people say 'you had a great season', I don't think so," said Gallas.

"To get to the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the first attempt was amazing for Tottenham but everybody is upset because we got nothing at the end. When we play against the small teams, maybe - I say maybe - we thought we had won before we played, so perhaps that's the mistake we made.

"We dropped too many points against Blackpool, Wolves and West Ham.

"If we play a big team, like Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal, we know they will be very hard to beat, so when we arrive in the dressing room we are ready for the fight.

"It will be harder next year. Liverpool are really, really strong and playing good football, so now it will be between maybe five or six teams to qualify for the Champions League.

"I am sure all the players are very upset. You feel so good in the Champions League and you get the chance to compete against the best in Europe. Because next season we will not play in that competition, it will be difficult for us to watch it on TV.

"We made too many mistakes but now we know which mistakes we made, it will not be good if we make the same ones again.

"We need to have a good pre-season, to speak together and be ready when the season starts. Because Tottenham want to be a big club, we have to be back in the Champions League."
