Class + graft. Modric is an easy comparison. Croatian, long hair, classy midfielders that make the game look so easy. Similar statures and and play styles. He’s also Majer’s idol. Nowhere near the experience or success of Modric, but has the talent for sure. He’s a reference point for his team to control proceedings through circulation and ball security. Great at progression from deep, creating higher up, and is capable of magic moments. Top vision and weight of pass, with great variety. Not fazed by pressure and can manipulate his weight and the ball to exit pressure very well. I think he’s exclusively a CM as opposed to Eriksen who is capable higher up or deeper. I don’t think Majer has the consistent ball striking and finishing ability, and he is also such a hard worker off the ball and with defensive ability too, that he’s a no. 8. Maybe a Conte no. 6, but he can do real damage with his creativity in the final third.

I think he’s a bit one footed and should develop his right foot. He’s shown he can play in a 2 and a 3 in France, but I have some doubts about his athletic profile for a MF2 in England. Not a stamina issue, rather the ability to cover large amounts of ground is something I haven’t seen enough of yet. The traits of Ligue 1 with the time on the ball and the slower pace impact his play as opposed to how I mentioned it doesn’t worry me with Terrier, so it’s something to keep in mind. And I’d like him to consolidate his great debut season with another next season. But for sure a classy player who makes the game look so easy, and it’s easy to tell when a player is just a level above on the pitch, and I’ve seen it plenty of times with Majer. A more athletic Tielemans and much better in the tackle and reading the game without the ball. A step up is a matter of when not if, and I think the ceiling is a Madrid/Barca staple, I really do.
Thanks for the wonderful response.

He was very much a #10 at Dinamo and Lokomotiva in the Croatian league. Fascinating that he's really embraced the defensive side of playing in the midfield.

I've been a massive fan of his for years. His profile might not be what we're looking for. But if we had a top notch scouting network this kind of under the radar signing would be brilliant.

Absolutely. Forest are best team in play offs, however best team does not always get promoted. If they fail to go up, Johnson is a terrific prospect.
If they did get promoted (as you’d expect- they’re the best team by far) then the chances of selling him are almost nil.
but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. You’d get 6 months to see him play in the premier league and then make a move in January. By that time you’d hope our ability to pull in players ahead of the other teams would be higher too.

The problem I can see its not who we get in but how to get a large number out. IMHO we have 12 very good players who could challenge for a CL place if played in every game, BUT the cover in the squad is just not good enough. DavSan as an example, although he has played adequately as cover for CR he is not in the same class as a footballer which might also apply to Lucas, Stevie B et.al. We may have some promising youngsters but we need quality proven experienced players, which may cost a few bob, but will not happen unless we ship out those who are clogging up squad numbers. Still what do I know, I thought ER was crap, now I just think he has potential. Not taking anything for granted, football is a funny game especially when you follow Spurs.
Stay safe COYS
For the first time in a while I think most of the players we would be happy to move on will actually attract interest, as long as we don’t price them out of moves. We did a lot of the tough work last year.

Davinson is a good defender and always been a model professional for us. He might not quite be consistent enough to start for us but he will attract plenty of suitors and bring in a good fee, if we decide to make him available.

GLC has been doing well back in Spain and will also attract decent money. Same with Gil if we decide to cash in. Bergwijn will probably get a move to Ajax.

Harry Winks, as much as he has frustrated at times for us, is a decent Premier League midfielder who I think will do well for a mid-table club. Former England international, still young and home grown.

Reguilon has admirers in Spain if we wish to make a change there. Rodon also will find a PL club.

Ndombele is the glaring exception. We’re going to have to sell him for relative peanuts or use him as part of a swap deal to get rid. But from what we’ve seen in the last year it looks like Paratici is much more prepared to bite the bullet on these tough decisions than Levy was.

There’s a lot of value there. Gonna be an exciting summer.

Agree entirely BUT agents and modern players can have the habit of expecting more than they are worth and I can't see Dan the Man actually losing a few quid to clear the books. I know all transfers are difficult but I just hope this might be the summer when we support what the manager wants even if it means losses. Still DL did get rid of Serge A at a big loss. Lets hope we clear dead wood regardless and bring in the quality that is needed.
Happy days indeed

Given how low my expectations were for the Juve boys, have to say I’ve been impressed. Don’t want us to rest on our laurels (Liverpool adding Diaz is exactly the attitude you need to keep improving) but having some true quality again is tremendous.

Happy place where I completely trust management to know who they want. If Conte doesn’t rate our current wing backs, that’s cool. If he does, so do I. Still maintain we need another CM though, particularly if we’re not interested in seeing Ndombele/GLC again.

He is a player we hold an interest in.
Personally think any Championship player should look at Jack Clarke, Rodon and, until recently, Sess to know going to us might not be the best career move. Bowen wouldn’t be the player he currently is if we’d signed him imo. I say this as a guy that wants us to develop young talent but I think he’d have more success staying at Forest.

One can come up with such examples for every single PL team whether its Liverpool or Burnley or Spurs.

What matters is stability - if club is stable and manager has time, then its ok for those young players

To be fair, he bit the bullet on Serge and Dele, essentially letting both of them go for free to get them off the wage bill and out of the club. We also sent our two record signings out on loan. There seems to have been a change in the way we operate since Paratici has arrived, and an acceptance that sometimes you have to accept a transfer hasn’t worked out and take a loss for the good of the team overall.

Again, outside of Ndombele, I actually think this years potentially surplus players are all great professionals who will attract plenty of interest as long as the fees are reasonable.

Think it’s just too big a step too soon for many. You need game time to develop but you also need to be of a standard so Twitter doesn’t bully you every week and very few players do that imo.

CL gives the club more room to manoeuvre in when it comes to ins vs outs. Extra £100m means we can afford to take slightly less on players we want out as opposed to before. So makes negotiations you’d hope a little more seamless
Not saying we’ll fire sale as that will never happen but does give greater flexibility-especially when some players see those coming in and quickly realise if they want to play football they may have to accept a move to a club a little below their preference

Plus certain players may have release clauses when it comes to CL clubs. So, could make the deal negotiations easier. But then, it really comes down to us paying up. I have seen numerous times, non-CL clubs still pipping us to a player we are interested in, because we want to penny pinch.

Dybala to Roma doing the Italian press rounds...

It seems, these links are coming up because, Totti liked a farewell post from Dybala...
End of the day, he will go to a well paying team thats also in CL. I cannot see Roma as his destination

Martin Terrier is true. Another of interest

Have seen some stuff about him collapsing on the pitch at some point, much the same as Eriksen. I know nothing about him or what the prognosis was after that. Is that a concern for us?
