Watched Chelsea v Brentford. Norgaard would be a very useful addition to our midfield.I don’t think I’ve seen him have a bad game. Commentator said he had better numbers than Kanye- I can believe that.

also Rico He ry at LB/LWB wouldn’t be a bad pick. Great defending 1 on 1 and very good going forward.. we have to look more closely at players in theEnglish game especially those with some PL experience
.
Nørgaard is Brentfords most important player. He is the heart and head of that team. His reading of the game is exceptional and passing is good. A mini Busquets if you like. They’re both incredible slow too.

Henry lacks real quality in the final third imo and we could do much better.

Some in January were saying Maehle from Atalanta was perfect for us in January. Never seems to start for them anymore. Hateboer seems first choice now
He will be perfect in Contes system. Works his socks of for 90 minuts.

Think we got itk for him about at month ago

If you read just a few posts above someone says Modric and Eriksen would start every game, and rightly so there's a response about whether they fit into Conte's 343 ahead of our current best 11. I don't think anybody is really saying we shouldn't try and sign them if they're available and we're all in agreement we need top quality depth in the squad
Thing is when you sign those players they are too good to no adapt the formation for.

modric
Bentancur
Eriksen

Deki
kane
Son

Trix did mention him at March 9. in the "The In-and-Out Wishlist Formation Thread" thread:

"De Ketelaere, Brozovic, De Vrij, Maehle, Philips, Dybala. All mentioned to me in the last few days as players we are looking at/targeting. There have been others, but these seem to have a bit more heat round them right now. Various sources so salt required"

De Ketleaere and Dybala rounds out our attacking group pretty much perfectly and allows us to move on a guy like Moura. Reasonable? No idea.

Well brozovic is off now so I guess we’ll just have to be satisfied with all the rest then.

Bild have linked us with Konrad Laimer of RB Leipzig. DM and RWB. Contract expires in summer 2023.

Good player. Would slot in well with his work rate and ability to push forward at times. Winks out, Laimer in would be great business.

Wrote this about Laimer previously when he was in the Nagelsmann side (in a thread talking about DM solutions for Jose… shudder):
Mentioned elsewhere but I'd love to see Konrad Laimer come in to be the DM. 22 years old, plays in the high-energy RB Leipzig side so feel like that's a good indicator of him being a solid fit for the rigors of the EPL. Averages about 6 defensive actions per match in the league (incredibly good given his versatility, more on that...). RB Leipzig are very much full throttle, direct in attack and Laimer, who plays in their "deeper midfield" of their 4-2-2-2, is responsible for basically pressing the shit out of their opponents out of possession, while also operating as an outlet in their attack.

RB Leipzig are superrrrr fun to watch, because in full bloom their flow in attack and unison in pressing is nothing short of awe-inspiring. But, Laimer is super versatile in that he can operate in multiple roles in midfield (he's not a really incisive passer, but he's a solid distributor), and he's got a fantastic motor on him. He just keeps working his ass off and that's why his defensive stats are so good, despite how much freedom he has in Nagelsmann's setup.

I don't think Jose is looking for a static DM. Instead, I see him looking for a guy that can operate at the base, and with Ndombele and Lo Celso sitting in front (of a 4-3-3), able to move forward in possession while providing a security blanket to break up any counter. Laimer would most definitely fit that role perfectly.

That being said, the biggest question mark for this is if Laimer is even interested in moving. Apparently he's in talks on a new contract and I saw a quote recently saying he wants to stay longer. From everything I can find, his contract expires in 2021.

Scored twice against Dortmund. His 1st goal would please Conte to bits. High pressing, wins the ball and then run into position to score a lovely chip. Would be a great addition to the team.

Edit: His assist for Leipzig's 3rd goal was also stunning.

I was hoping we’d be linked with him eventually. He’s a fantastic, high-pressing, all-action midfielder. Would suit Conte’s football down to a tee. He was also superb against us a few years back in the CL.

What defender could we realistically get in the summer to make our defence elite
Is it about being elite, or about consistency? Right now, I’d say our starting back 3 are excellent. What I want are two more CBs that can play at that same level, and there is no drop off. EG; The margin between Romero and Dav is huge. Same between Japhet and Davies. And arguably, Rodon is a smidge below Dier. So, I’d want guys who don’t require bedding in, and aren’t viewed as a downgrade when they play. Hence why the DiVrij signing seems really smart. And another like him, that can be as good as, if not a little better than Davies. No idea who that would be.

Would be an amazing signing. I mentioned Matheus Nunes having the best athletic profile I’ve seen in a long while in a CM. Laimer is very close behind. Just an incredible engine, his stamina is amazing, he’s fast over short and long distances. I think he had a major injury last season, so that’s something to keep in mind, but in Conte’s system, he has the most important attributes, and he they are top quality. The stamina, hard work. He is an insane presser. Like I haven’t seen anyone press like he does in all of Europe. He will efficiently pass the ball and carry it if required. An impressive range and weight of pass, not the elegance of Bentancur, but he’s precise most of the time. Tenacity off the ball. What has really stood out to me is his final third impact under Tedesco. He’s added goals and assists to his game, and classy ones at that. Chipped finishes (v. dortmund), long range finishes (v. Bayern). Some perfectly weighted through balls in the channel and down the middle. Midfield options of Laimer, Bentancur, Højbjerg, and Skipp (maybe Sarr too) would be fantastic. All win the ball well, have fantastic stamina, cover large spaces, and will be net positives in terms of progression and build up. Sarr just a bit raw defensively. Anything else is a bonus as Conte just needs his midfield to be able to cover a lot of ground and win the ball effectively out of possession and be functional in possession, providing reference points for the automations. Laimer’s pressing, ball striking, incredible athleticism and final third output. Højbjerg’s pressing and ball striking. Skipp’s exemplary ball winning. Bentancur’s general class. Sarr lacks in his alertness off the ball and still probably is a year away from being ready, but his attacking potential is the highest and is the best ball carrier. All bonuses. I’d be extremely satisfied with those 4 (or 5) being the CM options next season.
