I wouldn’t have sterling, I think there’s better players available

I totally agree. Have never really got the hype about Sterling. Can be good, can be very bloody frustrating.

But. IF he's specifically who Conte has stated as a preference. There aren't really better players available.

We have to do all we can to make this manager happy. If the finances work (which I doubt with Sterling, probably looking for £300k p/w) then we do it if it helps to keep Conte happy & at the club.

honestly, im ok with either Bremer or Bastoni, they both look damn good. I hope we can get some players in ASAP (I know it looks like forster is coming in but I mean outfield players not a backup goalie). Just something to really let Conte know that we are fully behind him and his vision. The funny thing is about Conte is that he is very much like old Jose Mourinho in that he creates that siege mentality where it really does feel like us against the world. All the supporters backing him and the team and I hope that we can really back him up and give our core 1 or 2 more chances at winning something

I think we need to be realistic with some if the signings to get bigger ones and to address our home grown issues.

for me I’d target:

GK Forster (free and HG)

RWB Spence (HG)

2 x CBs Bastoni/Gvardiol and Bremer

LWB Raum or Kostic

CM Bissouma

If possible Serge Gnabry but if not then the following two:

AM Eriksen (free)

ST Nketiah (free, HG, pisses off the gooners and he has shown that he can score goals given the chance).
We don’t have any home grown issues. We can sign 4 more overseas players without issue. More if we sell Sanchez, Emerson, Moura, Bergwijn, Ndombele, Lo Celso etc.

Absolutely this. An early statement signing would set the tone for the summer.

I actually think Guardiola ruined him in a way. The Liverpool Sterling was magic, in an erratic way.
Guardiola beat that out of him, and now he looks likes he plays within himself, to be a cog in a machine, this visably slows his play down because he's always thinking rather than doing. Similar to Mahrez.
It could be unlocked again if a new manager was to give him more freedom. Maybe.

Gollini was a big let down for me.

No hard feelings. I just had an idealistic, perhaps naive, idea that he may be Hugos long-term successor. Alas, he was barely able to lace the French princes boots.

Once Gollini goes, we have 2 slots available for non HG players, though that would be 0 if we registered Ndombele or Lo Celso, though I doubt we would anyway, but selling them doesn't free any slots up.

We can name 17 overseas players who were over the age of 21 on 1st Jan this year (Gil and Sarr do not count for example). I agree signing a back up GK who is HG makes sense, but we do not have a home grown issue. Ndombele and Lo Celso will depart. And Royal, Sanchez, Bergwijn, Reguilon all apparently candidates to follow them out of the door.

In the CL (or any of the UEFA comps), Sarr and Gil still count as an overseas player, as to qualify for the U21 list (B List), you have to have been at the club for 2 years (loans away don't count as being at the club) from the age of 15 to 21.

Excluding players out on loan, we currently have 16 players in our squad that dont count as HG, meaning we just have 1 space available (2 when Gollini leaves):

Lloris
Gollini
Doherty
Emerson
Reguillon
Romero
Dier
Davies
Sanchez
Rodon
PEH
Bentancur
Deki
Lucas
Son
Bergwijn

Sounds like Gil is gonna stay in Span another year anyway.

We know Gollini is leaving and it looks like a HG replacement is lined up.

If we sign a RWB one of Royal or Doherty can leave.
If we sign another LWB then Reguilon can leave.
IF we sign another (hopefully ball playing) CB then Sanchez and/or Rodon can leave.
IF we sign another forward then Moura and/or Bergwijn can leave.

I really do not see any home grown issue at all. Let's just sign the best players we can to win trophies. Winks aside, the players we are looking to offload are all overseas players, including Ndombele and Lo Celso.
