Who's been watching MotD then?!

For the record, I totally agree and would like to think we could pick them both up for less than £15million.

Haha. Got me. In fairness, I mentioned Sigurdsson a few months back. His game against us just cemented it for me. He's not the quickest but not slow but he's got size, a great touch, can spot a pass and crucially has an end product in front of goal. Only 21 too. Perfect understudy for VDV.

Fletcher, very good movement, good distribution and 'kinell, you give him a chance and he bloody slots it home. My love for the jug-eared one is a little Johnny-come-lately I admit.

I see it exactly the same mate - what strikes me about Sigurdsson is that he has a great footballing brain for someone that age and would seemingly be a great fit into our ethos (or dare I say, Rodgers!).

Fletcher is a very good finisher and fantastic in the air and although he's not a typical Tottenham-esque striker, he could prove invaluable over the course of a season as I can't see how he would fail to notch up strikes for us and for me, a much better alternative than the predictable unintelligent tripe we get served with Defoe.

Exactly. Not a slight against Defoe. Look at what he's done with Pompey. And us when he first arrived. Ever since we've been looking to push up the table though, he has become more and more of a standout in the squad - and not for good reasons.

He just doesn't fit the team or the game we should naturally be playing with our squad. A bit like Bent - although I hasten to add he is a much better striker than Bent for mine. Just not good enough, even as an option, for us anymore.

Really disappointed to see one of my hopes to sign for Chelsea, and even for that cheap, he was one who could make a huge difference for us, specially playing as left striker behind Adebayor, he would be help Bale and even Modric..

We must work in that department, VDV shouldn't be automatic starter IMO.

also, CB should be top priority, it would be nice to see that option can operate on LB also.

also signing striker would be always good, if we can get someone new on loan, i wouldn't mind, but let's replace Defoe with someone better, and give Harry Kane 3rd option in pecking order, or 4th if we qualified for CL.

I really agree with you over Defoe. There's some that say small strikers like him have become redundant in the modern game. He can't play up top on his own, can't play the support striker/number 10 role and can't play in a 3 out wide, or at least he's never been tried there.

We should see if Barca would loan us Affelay, he's been out injured all season and probably won't get a look in after the emergence of guys like Tello y Cuenca. He could play in any of the attacking trio positions. Just what we need imo

Watching the Everton vs Fulham game earlier it was obvious imo that there are plenty of players in the premier league midtable teams who could play for us. Dembele and Kerim Frei for Fulham looked good and have done before when I've watched them, as well as Jelavic, Fellaini, and Pienaar for Everton. There's also Siggurdson, Allen, and of course Caulker at Swansea. All of them could come and play for us imo.

Even in teams fighting relegation there are players we could pick up. Although we should be looking abroad too but some people I feel like overlook the impressive players in the premier league.

The club is, IMO, at the most crucial crossroads in decades. I think Levy's next managerial appointment will see whether our club sinks or swims. Anything but the right man and I see us going back to mid-table mediocrity, which would be uber excrutiating considering the opportunities Levy's had to take this club to the next level. Instead he's bobbed his head over the edge but not taken the plunge, this may be financially reasonable but, ultimately, it may see us become the Villa of London.

I think that we need the management to accept the fact that our style of play requires an attacking midfielder that sits just behind the striker. We have VDV to play there, but no one else. Marin could have been a good sigbning to rotate with VDV. Without Marin I think that Hernanes would be a good signing from Lazio. Similar to VDV in a lot of ways, vicious left foot etc. Been touted in the papers as possibly leaving Lazio in the sumnmer and they only want about £10million for him, which is a bit of a bargain for a midfield player who has averaged about a goal every 3 games in serie A. I think it is one of the most important positions for us to strengthen over the summer.

Lack of champions league football still shouldn't affect our signings. After all, we've little chance of signing superstars anyways due to wages/the clubs reluctance to splash the cash.

We should be looking at the following players:

GK - Fraser Forster (6ft 7, had another excellent season and only on loan at Celtic). Cost, £2-3m?

CB - Albiol (Spanish international centre back and Real Madrid have confirmed he can leave in the summer). Cost £8m?

CB - Verthonghen (One we've already been linked with). Cost £10m?

CB/CM - Ciaran Clark (young Villa player, looks very good and wasted in a poor Villa side). Cost £7-10m?

AM/St - Victor Moses (excellent season for Wigan, young and available). Cost £3-5m?

AM/Fwd - Scott Sinclair (another young talented attacking player and a very good season for Swansea). Cost £5m?

St - Stephen Fletcher (No frills but an excellent header of the ball and available due to Wolves relegation). Cost £8-10m?

Struggled to get into the Bremen side this season, and would have problems with the physicality of the Premier League I think. I know people said the same of Modric, but Marin plays that bit further forward in an area where defenders are less likely to give him space.

It seems like Chelski disagree with you Rich ! Oh well, guess we will find out now. Gutted though !

No way for 5million! If anyone got him for that it'd be one of the best deals I've ever seen.

Kagawa is an interesting one. Dortmund have been looking really positive lately and have signed some real talent, seems odd that one is looking to get out.

Linked heavily with Manure from what i've read this morning though.
