With people talking about Dembele I wonder whether he could be a candidate for a massive money China move. I recall him mentioning the possibility last summer, and if it did bring in £50m+ for the club you would think it would be too much to turn down given his age and injury issues.

If it enabled us to go out and buy Tolisso or an equivalent up and coming player that would set us up in midfield for the next 5 years.

It's a tough one because when he's actually comfortable and playing well he's one of the most unique players in the world.

He is a good keeper that makes great saves. To be considered a great keeper he needs to make less mistakes

No. He is considered a great goalkeeper by everybody in the game and is often spoken of in terms of "one of the best in the world." He doesn't have to do shit to convince some scrubs online that he's great, he simply is.

ali z on walker: Not just about money he is gone we are looking for a replacement.
we have bid £20 m for a player from overseas.
I have been warned by Mods not to post with out evidence so all I can say - is he(walker) has issues personally , has caused issues in the camp and his injury well let's say club think he could play.
Fingers crossed the player we've bid on is Semedo.

What Dembele said was:

"It's a very difficult choice," says Mousa Dembélé."For young players who still have to grow, it's not so wise to go back. For older players, it may be different. But honestly, I do not have a clue about the level of football. It's hard to say. "

It wasn't mentioned what he was asked.

She's got her knickers in a twist.
By everyone in the game do me a favour.
I rate lloris as a very good goalkeeper just not a great one yet.
I have the right to an opinion without being called a scrub thank you :finger:

You're quite right, you do have the right to that opinion - just as I have the right to tell you that it's unsubstantiated bollocks. He is the French national team captain, he is our captain, he is a world class goalkeeper that has played over 200 games for us. He is a great one, regardless of what you think.

Why some of our fans are so desperate to downplay the achievements or abilities of our players is beyond me.

Christ how many times do we have to go through this?

It's the way we play. Poch wants us to play out of tough spots and trust our talent, rather than lump the ball up field and play percentages. So Lloris gives the ball to the centre halves and full backs even though they have people closing them down, trusting them to play out of trouble. And we do it time and time again.

We may get into trouble on the odd occasion, but there is a reason we've faced the least shots in the whole league. We don't just boot the ball down field and give teams the chance to launch hopeful attacks.

And yet a key feature of our play is our ability to win the ball back high up the pitch. I'm no advocate of hoofing it long, but when we do we can be reasonably successful winning it back. By contrast, we've had more than enough toe curling episodes when the ball has been played short to players in tight spaces. Lloris does far too much of it IMO. We may get away with it on the majority of occasions but it is a high risk strategy and we seem to do it when there is absolutely no need.

I share your view of Lloris. Not sure that selection in the French national team is going to be accepted as a guaranteed hallmark of quality by SC, in the circumstances.

And yet we cough up less shots than anyone else in the league, so we must be doing something right?

You are entitled to an opinion, of course you are but you are stating opinion as fact.
It's not a fact he is world class or a great keeper it's your opinion.
World class means lloris would be the keeper in a world 11 imo that's what world class means and should not be banded around so cheaply.
I am not downplaying lloris or his achievements as I have stated I think he is a very good keeper I just think he has to make less mistakes to be a great one.
