From talking to Everton fans it seems Koeman wants him gone but Kenwright and the rest of the board want him to stay. That kind of situation resolved itself pretty terribly when Peace and Pulis had differing stances on Berahino. Looking at how that played out you'd think the Everton board would be wiser to just let it go.
Kenwright's an old romantic; if he does want him to stay he'll make sure of it imo.

Latest Mirror article on Barkley...

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/evertons-ross-barkley-looks-set-10477607

snippet...

There is a £100,000-a-week offer on the table - the biggest deal in club history - but although manager Ronald Koeman indicated after the final game of the season on Sunday the club would make a statement within 24 hours, that has not happened.Barkley was given a Monday deadline by Koeman, but there has been no commitment either way from the player’s representatives.Instead, it is likely Barkley will be given until later in the week to make a final decision on whether to accept the offered terms. It seems, though, that by delaying his decision once more, the 23-year-old is contemplating turning his back on the £5million-a-year deal. Tottenham and Manchester United are both monitoring the situation, and could be persuaded to bid £20m for a player with one year left on his current contract. If he says he will not sign, then Everton will seriously attempt to sell the player, with Koeman already indicating he will sign “players in Barkley’s position, wether he stays or goes, because we need more productivity in that area”.

The outspoken agent of Manchester City's Kelehci Iheanacho has ruled out the striker's potential move to Tottenham this summer after admitting that it is unlikely his client will be sold to a direct rival. ”It’s clear he won’t be sold to a direct title rival by Man City, so when I see the reported interest from Spurs, I know if it becomes official it will be dismissed outrightly, but Everton and West Ham we will have to wait and see."

This is how its been for a while now. Chelsea are the worst culprits, the number of players they sign and then loan out or sell to teams that aren't 'rivals' is embarrassing. All to keep these players out of the hands of anyone who appears to be a threat.

On the plus side, if City aren't willing to sell to us, Levy is hardly going to sell to them. If Walker goes, it'll be to Germany or Spain IMO.

Chelsea did screw themselves up with De Bryne.... just check their on loan players, nothing we need.

We had come far... bec all title rival will not deal with us neither do we want to deal with them unless they want Sissoko. :poop:

Don't get the love for Demarai Gray. Quick and tricky, but never gets into dangerous positions in the box and generally bases his game on hopeful crosses and shots from distance. 5 goals + assists in some 1400 minutes played (1 per 280 minutes) isn't good. Maybe he can be coached into something effective, but at this moment in time he's not very good.

A lot of rumour of him going to Liverpool.

still in talks...

I would have thought the only way you would go there is if the money was amazing or no teams from decent league's went in for him.
I do not think the french league is any where near as good as the German spanish or English or as appealing.

Tax free income helps though

Yep I often look at my 100k per 100k wage slip and think I could afford not to pay my energy bills in instalments if I didn't have to pay tax :cautious:

Of course, it's not like they need it but it seems to have been a key draw to Monaco over the decades. Not much more to it than that on the whole, although every now and then they are able to build an exciting team out of this model.
