I always thought this was a tactic to free up nearby players once the ball is released.
i think it's a very fine line between being very effective to being immensely self defeating, u still need the vision when to release the ball but of late dembele been to pre-occupied with fending off challenges making him hold onto the ball longer that what he should.

I think a centre back is a must for the summer, we look a different team when we play 3 at the back and if poch isn't going To trust KWP then we need another attacking left back!
There are certainly no shortage of attainable young CBs in the PL this summer. Van Dijk will be too pricey for our blood, but both Michael Keane and Harry Maguire look to have something about them.

I want us to buy Shaw from Man U. Whilst he's an outcast under Mourinho, Pochettino turned him into the best LB in the league (as he subsequently has with Rose). This would allow us to play 3-4-2-1 / 3-4-3 when Rose is injured. Davies can stay as he provides cover at LCB for Vertonghen. On the right we have Walker-Peters coming through and he can offer similar back up on the other flank.

If we sell Wimmer, we should look to sign Hector Moreno. He's played for Poch before, can play perfectly in a back three or two, is good with the ball at his feet and is left-footed. Would be cheap given that he is at PSV and just turned 29. I know there is reticence to target older players, but defenders have longer shelf lives, and the club is ready to compete right now, so bringing in someone who can slot into the system right away is key.

Realistic targets price wise, and players who have proven prem ability that would ,i think be great additions to our SQUAD.,players that would fit into the way Poch plays when called upon.

Long
Redmond
Cresswell

Add to the above we must sign one special player to make that difference an Isco type ....a player of real quality we really need.

we have plenty of players to make way for those four......

Sissoko
Davies
Janssen

Can we please stop buying squad players who do not push the First 11 guys and hence we do not improve.
Next season is vital and we need no fuck ups in this summer window as we cannot afford the same wembley form we have shown in the European matches in the league next season.

Levy needs to spend SMART and he needs to spend BIG this summer or we could seriously have a battle next season.
It would be so Spursy to move to the new Stadium in the championship !!

Moreno would be an excellent purchase imo . Probably unrealistic but I think Hector Herrera would be a great buy too. Add Sessegnon and Dolberg and I would be very happy with our summer business.

Just told LB is now a priority for the Summer.

I hope that's a back up not a rose replacement.
Can see Davies wanting to leave, he needs to be playing week in week out as he is not improving as he could with us this season

We just need one or two players who are better than what we have. In my opinion, a top quality wide forward and a creative midfield player and we would be set.

Wages would be an issue with Shaw. We would have to pay him around 70/80k a week to be a 2nd choice left back not too mention how much Man U would want for him if they decided to sell to us (which I doubt they would)

I would like to think we have more than one priority. LB is certainly one but equally I hope signing a creative AM is another.

Talking about LBs - not sure why we didn't go for the Dutch guy van Anholt. Good attacking LWB who gets a few goals and EPL experience.

so what your saying is that Rose understudy is going to be who? you think we are going to get a world class left back to sit on the bench? at least the likes of Cresswell, which was just a suggestion, is a player who is more similar to Rose than Davies is,;
And imo, so are the other players i mentioned, more suited to our style and imo are good players.

And if you read what i wrote, i said we need a top class player too, we ain't going to spend BIG wake up.

And WTF you on about relegation? are you ok?

Just told LB is now a priority for the Summer.

Ricardo Rodriguez would do the trick. Release clause. Versatility. Looking to move.

Could move on Davies and Wimmer for him alone potentially.

EDIT: entirely optimistic!

I'm surprised so many are happy to bin Wimmer. He's been a bit shaky when he's played this season but was excellent the season before when he got a proper run of games. He hasn't had much of a chance to get going this year but he's young and talented enough to persevere with IMO. It seems far more obvious to me that we need more similar cover for Rose.

Agree about squad players, we have enough. Need players who will be in the starting xi or pushing hard for it.

I agree. I'd like to know why he hasn't been good enough this season to automatically fill in for Jan. Last time his stats were actually better than Jan's and we were all had confidence in him. Has he done something to upset Poch? Lost confidence? Whatever it is, it's a shame as he was a great replacement for Jan.
