Hope we get a RB to replace Walker.
Tripps is good but he is no walker replacement, if anyone saw Martial against him yesterday can see that, we weaken our first 11 with the sale of walker if we stick with tripps
he is great rotation and teams like Watford but not for title tilt

Pedro in cup semi is another example
How did Sanchez do against Trippier?

What I don't get about our interest in Barkley is the large home grown tax we would have to pay on him, when we don't really need any more home growns.

Patrik Schick is the exact type of player I love to avoid.

Any player who is in Serie A who has one of their top attributes is dribbling is red flag city for me.

The laundry list of players who are like that in ability from Serie A who come to the Premier League and fail is massive. There's just so many failures of that type of player from that league. The opposite is also true with players who look like flops here only to go and look like absolute world beaters there.

This isn't to say Schick is bad, as I haven't watched him aside from youtube, but I am MASSIVELY skeptical of his ability to transition to the Prem.

Losing Walker is awful news. Finding a good right back is hard enough, but finding one of his caliber for a price we would actually pay I just don't see happening. Tripper is a good rotation option but against the top teams in Europe I don't trust him. Loosing Walker is one thing, but loosing him to City is dreadful. They really need a player like him. I really thought we were past the age of strengthening our rivals.
What can we do if a player tells us he doesn't want to play for the club anymore though? Everything good Poch has built has come from togetherness and team spirit and if someone doesn't want to be part of it, we are better off getting rid. No player is bigger than that.

And while we're still paying a fraction of the wages of our rivals we'll always be vulnerable - that's undeniable.

Also I saw a journalist make a point about the fact that Poch likes young malleable players, and doesn't like older senior players challenging him.

Maybe Walker has reached that stage of his career where he doesn't listen anymore and thinks he knows better than Poch?

The whole Poch and Walker clashing stories and rumours is obviously total bollocks.

Poch doesn't suffer fools. We've seen examples of this over and over the last couple of years. If Walker and Poch were clashing Walker would be with the youth team right now or we'd be wondering where on earth he is as he'd have been completely removed from all squad involvement instead of what has been happening now with him rotating games with Trippier and coming on as a sub in all the games he doesn't start.

Serie A is always a red flag for me. Juve excepted - who are a cut above - the football they play over there is from a different planet to the PL. The tempo, time on the ball, tactics, all very different.

Yeah, but still. You would imagine that one of the rich clubs would need a decent English player more than us, and would bid the price up. City, for example.
My guess is that Barkley sees his best opportunity to play and thrive here with Poch - and not at City, and end up like Delph. So, this is player driven as much as pure money driven. I could be wrong though...

No I don't believe Poch would put him in the youth team unless he did something unacceptable like disrespect him or one of the coaches in front of the rest of the squad.

If they had a chat in private where he complained about the rotation or said he wants to go - Poch would not be happy but he couldn't treat him like a pariah - it would upset the rest of the squad - where Walker has respect and friends for sure.

Yeah it's a similar situation to Bentaleb imo. He wasn't ostracised but nor was he relied on week in week out.

I reckon he's off.

I would rather have Zaha than Barkley as he brings something different to what we already have. Barkley is over rated in my opinion, when I've seen him he gives up possession far too easily.

That said I don't think either get in our first choice 11 when all are fit.

Ideally I would like a player like Lacazatte but play swapping positions with Dele and CE behind HK during games and then play as the striker when HK is rested and bring Son / Lamela in. I hope Lamela stays too.

i am finding the idea of signing Barkley really underwhelming, I even went on YouTube to try and find a trailer (highlight vids) to make me feel more at ease knowing they can make Heskey look quality and they were really not that impressive. Still, it seems it's happening so guess I need to get on board. I just hope it's for a reasonable fee. Ether way, he would never be ahead of Lamela in my mind unless he is being thought of as a CM rather then a AM in which case I would rather play Winks more.

How did Sanchez do against Trippier?

Sanchez has no pace?
Tripps is a great player but he cant defend against pace, full stop!

On a big pitch at Wembley, tripps will get caught out time and time again, the difference when Walker come on yesterday was massive, its clear he is off but we cant play at Wembley with tripps as our no 1 right back.

Sorry but it will end badly if we don't replace walker, can guarantee we will be on here before jan transfer window asking for a RB, unless KWP is ready but he didn't even make the carling cup team this year when poch was playing the kids so cant believe he is as close as some say

Yes that Coutinho lad Liverpool bought from Inter, what a waste of space.
Are you being willfully ignorant?

Neither myself nor @danielneeds have said never ever buy Serie A players as they're all garbage. All we've said is that there are massive red flags and a list of failures that appears to be much larger than the same list from other leagues. Coutinho doesn't disprove that, it just further highlights that those successes are just that much rarer than those from France, Spain, Holland, etc.
