Has a buyout clause for Nice, so we should be able to poach him à la Toby. Liverpool are interested.
How much RB has he played instead of RW though? I had a cursory glance and pretty sure he was playing RW and not RB/RWB a couple weeks ago.

With Serie A it's not so much players directly bought from that league, it's more specifically players that have only ever proven themselves in Italy.

I think Belotti would be an example of that for instance.

Are you being willfully ignorant?

Neither myself nor @danielneeds have said never ever buy Serie A players as they're all garbage. All we've said is that there are massive red flags and a list of failures that appears to be much larger than the same list from other leagues. Coutinho doesn't disprove that, it just further highlights that those successes are just that much rarer than those from France, Spain, Holland, etc.

Willi Fully is not ignorant. He is a good talent

Sorry Sweech, just joshing. Reading this wishlist thread is version 2.0 of the Walker thread, with a splash of Barkley's not good enough. Bit depressing for a wishlist!

Haven't most of the flops either been average players to begin with or arrived after they have been past their best? Shevchenko (past it), Jovetic (injury problems) and Aquilani (average) have all gone back to Serie A after England and flopped. Cuadrado springs to mind but he was given less than 400 mins in his time at Chelsea.

Genuine question by the way, I can't remeber that many players to come here from Serie A.

Would lov

i am finding the idea of signing Barkley really underwhelming, I even went on YouTube to try and find a trailer (highlight vids) to make me feel more at ease knowing they can make Heskey look quality and they were really not that impressive. Still, it seems it's happening so guess I need to get on board. I just hope it's for a reasonable fee. Ether way, he would never be ahead of Lamela in my mind unless he is being thought of as a CM rather then a AM in which case I would rather play Winks more.

Why aren't we allowing him the benefit of the doubt? The majority of our players have improved with a bit of Poch live so why not Barkley?

The club has to be very careful with the selling of players.

It has a big stadium to pay for now - any hint of no ambition and those over priced tickets don't sell and the whole business model comes tumbling down.

We should not be selling any players to direct rivals.

Is that really true though? For various reasons Italy has never been a big exporter of footballers, not even close to France or even Spain. Isn't it as much about numbers and if you look at the percentages signings from Series to the EPL wouldn't come out much worse would they ?

Racking my brains and I can't think of many players signed out of SerieA to the EPL over the years but the ones I can remember were all pretty decent signings, going back to Bergkamp, Henry, Klinsmann, DeCanio, Carbone, Davids, Casiraghi (unlucky with injury), and now Pogba.

He's been playing ARM in a 4231 recently (did when I saw him a couple of weeks ago).

Just trying to piece together the ITK we've had.

So Walker out. For what? £40-50m you'd imagine?

Then we get Barkley in for around £25m say?

And ITK has linked us to Ajax players. I reckon it could be Kenny Tete now. If we bring him in for say £10-15m ish then we've actually made money net.

Either that or KWP and an assault on getting Zaha.

Serie A is always a red flag for me. Juve excepted - who are a cut above - the football they play over there is from a different planet to the PL. The tempo, time on the ball, tactics, all very different.

Mancini, Ancelotti, Ranieri, Conte - italian tactics doesn't seem to be that bad in the PL.

I really don't want Barkley.

I'd take sturridge if that was at all a possibility. I just get the feeling spurs and Poch would know how to manage him and his fitness. I think he's been fit more often than Klopps played him as well, just Klopp being arrogant. Throwing Son and him on 60 minutes when you need a goal.

RB wise if walker goes I really don't know. Someone who might not be as good going forward but sound defensively would be my preference. For when Trippier is struggling against the likes of a martial.

Spot on, not that many exports from Serie A to England. You can add Vieira to the list.

Who is actually a realistic RB option to replace Walker?
Cedric Soares from Southampton seems like the perfect replacement. He won the European championship with Portugal last summer, has PL experience, is a year younger than Walker and is faster than Trippier. Might be an expensive option though.

If Walker goes think we should be all over Semedo at Benfica. 23, strong and quick and also think he has a better end product.
Apparently City are in for him too, so would have to be quick.
