What is he like pace wise?, because that is one thing we really need in our locker going forward.
I'm only going from highlights reel, but I'd say rangey, rather than a speed merchant. Looks to have more of a turn of pace than Kane, say. Maybe a bit like Lewandowski in physique. Interesting, again going from highlights, but it seems that when he plays for the Czech national team, he plays out wide too.

We won't be signing another striker.

Obviously we have the best in the league who will start every game he is fit for.

We then have Son, who is the best back-up striker in the league.

And then Vincent Janssen, who will be given a second season. He has shown that he has the ability to perform in the PL. Even without the goals, he is a workhorse who brings out the best in our attacking mids.

Maybe he'd rather cut his loses? I think you are probably right in that we would happily keep him to see if he can progress, but I also think should he want to go we wouldn't be too obstructive.

Janssen has said he doesn't want to leave.

You cant spend over £50m on two players to replace two guys who have played a total of 1,500 mins this season, they simply wont get the minutes. Especially when your first choice RW has spent the majority of the season out with a hip injury.

Also people keep downplaying our squad imo, it has gaps but its better than our rivals. People are saying Chelsea have a great squad but they looked instantly wobbly when they had a couple of injuries. Other teams have bigger 'names' but they dont have better squads imo.

The only way signing Zaha and Barkley would make sense if we sold N'koudou, Sissoko and Lamela

We spent £40m+ on those ideally replaced in the first place, suggesting Poch saw a need for them even with Lamela still in the equation. That is still only two players per position across the 4-2-3-1, hardly stockpiling.

We talk about the evolution of the squad and Poch, that next step might be rotation of the squad (meaning less reliance on certain players and them playing less games) and competing across multiple fronts. A stronger squad helps with that.

Lots of thoughts in the thread on Barkley coming in to the squad. Personally l think it would work for a few reasons - for his price with only 1 year left on his contract, Everton stating that he will be sold if he doesn't sign a new contract and positive noises being made that he would be happy to come to us.
How would it look if we had Kane up top and then pairings of Eriksen & Dele and Barkley & Lamela to rotate in and out of the team to keep everyone fresh.
To me on paper that looks like a win win.

With Son in there too - options to play three behind Kane. Excellent.

think id like to see the following departures; -

Lamela & Wimmer (regrettably) Sissoko (ill drive him to his new club myself), Fazio (he seems well set in Rome), Njie (rather see what NKoudou can do (theres a song in there i think).
Not bothered about incomings to be honest, other than a replacement for WImmer.

Exactly. It gives us greater flexibility, whether it is with 2 or 3 behind Kane. We have played both systems this season depending on availability and opposition. For me, we know what he (Barkley) can do already, there should hopefully be an improvement under Poch and his coaching and no huge drop off in quality with him in the team. I think next season will be much tougher than this now that Utd and City have had a season to bed in managers and the likely expenditure we can see from them over the summer on new recruits. I would like to think that hopefully we should be able to progress further in the Champions League next season, which will see an increase in the workload and then need to rotate more to keep players fresh to progress on both fronts.

Fazio and N'Jie are already officially gone I thought? They met the terms of their loans

Marilyn Monroe sung it in Some Like it Hot.

"I wanna be loved by you
By who
Nobody but George Nkoudou
I wanna see what George Nkoudou can do-oo-ooooo
Boop-boop-de-boop"

Not sure about that if I'm honest Janssen has really struggled imo and while part of me wants to see how he goes next time, if we can improve and upgrade then we should.
Time waits for no one these days and if or son could have banged in a couple of goals between Oct and Nov when Kane was out, then maybe we might have been champions ourselves instead of all those needless draws.
Still I back the management to make the right calls and if another striker comes in then so be it.

Evertonians living near me who watch him every week, can't wait for him to go. Poor work rate and decision making.
I am open minded to a degree but don't think he will take us up the step we need.

Agree. Tottenham even thinking about signing Barkley saddens me.
We need to look elsewhere.

Regarding the point around replacing so few minutes played in Sissoko and Lamela, is the low figure not just a sign of Sissoko not being effective, and Lamela being injured, thus placing a bigger load on the others.
Adding some quality in there allows us to make changes without the drop off in calibre.

Astounds me that people don't think Barkley could improve under Poch, if Poch wants him there's normally a reason for it.

Some of our players are irrecognisable after working with Poch mate.
