You're half right, we struggle without Eriksen. But Dembele has played about half of last season and a half of this, hardly irreplaceable?
Dembele played 30 league games last season and was suspended for the first 3. He missed 5 through injury.

This season has been worse, he’s played 20 out of 32 so far, but 62.5% is still more than half. If he plays each remaining league game, which seems likely, he’ll end up with 68% games played. He literally can’t miss half of our games this season through injury. His worst ever turn out was in 14-15 when Mason and Bentaleb were first choice. That was also our lowest finish under Pochettino.

I personally think this thread is better when we discuss potential transfer targets/players we like look of, etc.

IMO anyone dismissing Ademola Lookman should have a word with themselves. That kid is immensely talented. He's done well for RBL when he's played but I watched him recently for England U21's and he really stood out. We were also heavily linked with him before he went to Everton so we know we like him. If Sam doesn't want him then I'd love for us to bring him in. That said, he's unlikely to get enough game time to warrant coming here and I also have no idea what his cost would be.

Next one up.....we gotta talk about Ruben Neves at Wolves. This kid is crazy talented. If you've not seen his goal from last night then go take a look. Unbelievable. Obviously Wolves are coming up but he's worth considering for future reference I think, had a brilliant season.

I know myself and others have said it a lot, but in my mind the perfect replacement for Dembele is Kovacic, if there is some way we could get him for a reasonable fee than he should be our number 1 target.

He doesn’t seem to want to leave Real, and with Modric being almost 33 now, he’s probably thinking he’ll hang on and try to be his successor.

If anything Lemina from a relegated Southampton would be the perfect Dembele 'replacement'

I have read we have been scouting Marcos Senesi @Ossie85 do you know anything about him mate?

I know supposedly last summer he turned down chances to move, but since then he has only started 7 games in La Liga which I very much doubt he will be happy about. I’m pretty sure it will be all change this summer at Real due to their poor season and I would be very surprised if they start next season with him as their number 1 CM alongside Kroos. You never know with RM but I’m sure they sell some of their big names (Bale and maybe Isco if he continues to moan) and some fringe players (Cabellos and maybe Kovacic) to make money for he next wave of Galacticos.

Last season he played 2050 minutes out of 3420, that’s 60%. This season he’s played 1730 minutes of 2880. Again 60%.

And of that 60%, how much of it was peak Dembele? He took until March to look anything like match fit.

14/15 was Pochettino’s first season, Kane’s still hadn’t established himself, no Alserweireld or Wanyama, Alli etc.

We have evolved considerably.

Different style of player to Dembele - less physical, more elusive - but I think Leandro Paredes of Zenit would be an excellent replacement, providing a lot of what he offers but in a slightly different way. I think I've said this on here before, when he was still at Roma, and I imagine the petro-dollars would make it a much more difficult deal now...but he's a fantastic player, one I'd love us to sign.

We have involved considerably, Dembele has been part of that, has improved himself and still contributes significant.

For what it’s worth, I full agree with you that we need a number 8, I just feel that rather than it being to replace Dembele, it should be to push Dembele, rotate with Dembele, something’s even play with Dembele when a pure DM is obsolete, and future proof against Dembele a eventual demise (like Sanchez with Alderweireld).

Said before I really like Ruben Neves (Wolves)

Maybe a tad too defensive to be a Dembele understudy. Maybe let Dier concentrate on CB role and he can come in and take his MF role.

Excellent passer, great shot from distance ( watch his goal v Derby last night if you get the chance)

Think he's only about 21. Highly unlikely he'll be leaving Wolves though, they've all but secured automatic promotion to the prem. Add to this friendly goings on between the Portuguese that saw him arrive at Wolves in the first instance.

Looks a player though.

It's rumoured that Levy wont deal with certain agents due to their massive fees etc... and I believe his agent is one of them.

Actually, Grey Fox wrote this in 2017:

Left footed CB. Highly rated in San Lorenzo but he has played only a couple of games. I never seen him play but I do remember he had an error that cost the match a couple of weeks ago. I can't give a fair opinion though. He played very few games, and I have not seen him play

I don’t think Wolves would sell him anyway. I’ve read that they want to set themselves up as the Manchester City of the - my English geography is terrible, so i’m going to say the West Midlands(?). Selling their best player and much coveted asset wouldn’t be a good start in reaching that ambition.

I genuinely think they’re here to stay though and will be one of the most interesting teams to watch in the transfer market. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them pull off a couple of major coups.

When you say a couple of major coups, what qualify of player are you talking about? No sought after top player in their prime is going to wolves this season without having an extremely one sided contract. It just won't happen regardless of how much money they have.

On Gareth Bale. Absolutely NO! He burned his bridges. But worst of all he wore a pink cap whilst doing it. It was good but you are not Spurs and not welcome back.
