Im still on the Amadou Diawara hype train for Dembele replacement.
Same here. I was intrigued by him and have watched more and more of him since.

Great engine and technically excellent. He might just be what we are looking for.
I agree Diawara should be a top priority in summer

Saw him when he was at Bologna (thanks for the correction @Ossie85) and was amazed at his maturity on the pitch. IMO he is steps ahead of Dembele in all facets of the game bar maybe ball retention and burst. I truly think he is the closest I have seen to a Basquets type player that just keeps the ball moving and can pivot on a dime. Close, close control and has the ability to carry it out and find the pass.

Again I would spunk most of our summer coin on him and De Jong.

For me our weakness again has been in the middle third as it is the slowest moving portion of our game and is where we are getting beat on the counter. With a future midfield three made up of the likes of Wanyama, Diawara, De Jong, Winks, Eriksen, Josh I say we have more power and creativity to keep the wolves at bay.

I'm convinced that if we get the right midfielder or two then we're a really good bet for the league and I truly believe that. I think the only other thing that would need to happen is for Aurier and Rose to have good pre-seasons to come back sharp.

If we get the midfield right it will make 10x as much difference to us as signing Bale would.

Diawara never played for Atalanta. He was signed from Bologna
The one we were linked from Atalanta that was similar is Franck Kessie that now plays for Milan

You're half right, we struggle without Eriksen. But Dembele has played about half of last season and a half of this, hardly irreplaceable?

To be fair to Dembele his return to the side in the last few weeks has coincided with our best run this season, I don’t believe thats a coincidence??
Something that was pointed out to me by a mate at the start of last season was that Eriksen struggles when Dembélé is not in the side or when he is not in full swing when just back from injury.

No it's not a coincidence because him and Wanyama are our best midfielders. Winks to be fair hasn't been fit at all and Sissoko is Sissoko.

But that certainly doesn't mean there aren't other options out there in the transfer market that would be better than Dembele.

Dier and Dembélé have been our best midfielders this season imo.
Dembélé has a different skill set to most dm but he is very effective and important to us.
I’m up for us signing a player to eventually replace Dembele but his form in the last few months suggests he has more in the tank

Thank you for the correction. Don’t know how I confused the blue and black stripes and the Reddish and blue. Will edit that with credit to you.

And yeah they are completely different imo. Kessie is much more attacking.

On Gareth Bale. Absolutely NO! He burned his bridges. But worst of all he wore a pink cap whilst doing it. It was good but you are not Spurs and not welcome back.
Wore gloves playing for Madrid last night, definitely don't want him back.

Yeah should have kept it simple with that awful ping of a ball to Alli vs Chelsea

He's also the one who zips a nice little vertical ball into Eriksen, who sublimely releases Son on the half turn.

So it was Dier's progressive passing that initiated the attack for our third goal.

Eric is so underated in midfield

This team doesn’t miss Dembele anywhere near as much as it misses Eriksen.

It was also Dier fucking up s simple pass that should have allowed Stoke to equalise last week. Not for the first time either.

I’ll give you a thousand banal shuffling the ball from a to b for every incisive pass Dier’s made. And it’s one thing making a straight pass to Eriksen, it’s a whole other thing what Eriksen did next.

I see your banal pass and raise you a sublime pass to Dele.

sources have told The Independent that the Old Trafford hierarchy now have “close to zero interest in Bale”.

Hmmmm. If PL teams are only interested at a cut price deal, similar to ourselves, rather than wanting to throw obscene cash at the deal (yes I'm looking at you Utd) we are probably in with a big shout!

The fact that he's gone from probably the most in demand player in European footballer when he left us, to someone the elite clubs will probably pass on when he leaves Madrid, tells you all you need to know about his time in Spain.

He's won some major trophies as a squad player in a great team, but his individual stock has fallen massively.
