I personally don't see the point in Reus. I like him, but with his age and having Sonny, just doesn't seem to be worth what it'd take to get him.

Hercules did talk about an exciting player from Germany...

From Darren Lewis:

Tottenham Hotspur ready bid for German megastar Marco Reus as he stalls on new deal at Borussia Dortmund

Spurs are tracking Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus with the Germany international stalling over a new deal.

Reus, 28, will have just a year left on his contract at the end of the season. But he is waiting to find out the extent of his club’s ambition in the transfer market before he commits himself to fresh terms.

Liverpool are also admirers of Reus who scored Borussia Dortmund's opener in last night's 1-1 draw at home to Augsburg.

I was excited about this for a moment, because I think we're genuinely at a point now where we could attract a name like Reus. However, upon a minute and half's worth of reflection I realised that it makes zero sense in lieu of other priorities (not to mention the factors of age, injury record, and that he's basically the same player as Son + half a point). A year or two ago I'd have been ecstatic to sign Reus, but as of the current moment I'd be more excited to see us sign a Malcom or Bailey.

I still think Reus is an incredible talent, to be honest i fell sorry for the guy as injuries have really fucked up his career. He had the world at his feet a while ago. Still, If he was fully fit I don’t think I could turn him down, but I doubt he ever will be. There is probably 0 truth in this story and if we are looking at anyone at BVB it would probably be Pulisic.

Yep, would rather we focused on Sessegnon at this time. We have a pretty set group of AM's with Moura.

If we manage to get Sess I hope we use him as a wing back rather then a wing forward. Try and mold him into Tottenthams David Alaba, I think he has the skills (from the little I have seen) to be a similar sort of player.

injury record is a problem unfortunately....and we got Son!
I’m probably one of Son’s biggest fans but a fully fit Reus is next level, he was the player we should have bought to replace Bale. Haven’t seen him since return from injury but would be sceptical as to whether he can fully recover from so many injuries.

Sess and KWP as wingbacks for us with 2/3 seasons of maturing and Poch's coaching would be awesome.

A quality CM/8 who can pass with tempo and quality should be our priority but if we are also looking to strengthen our attack then players like Reus are exactly the type of player we should be thinking about. We are still a very erratic and careless team in forward areas, and the last thing we need is more of that in the form of players like Zaha, we need better brains and more composed feet.

After watching us piss away chance after chance and situation after situation recently, I'd definitely like to see us bring in someone like Fekir, Draxler or Reus etc, someone with a quick brain and sure feet. Id happily sacrifice Lamela or Son if necessary. Both have ability but we need some more consistent quality, not their more erratic, mercurial brand of ability.

Is Reus capable of playing as a striker? I'm starting to think that trying to buy an actual striker backup for kane is never going to work, and that we're better off with players like Son (and possibly Reus) who can play there but also behind. So if kane's out we switch to a more fluid, semi strikerless formation

I know Reus has had his injury woes, but it really does highlight how far we have come as a club that some of us are actually in the thinking that he's not a priority.

He certainly was a talent, not so sure now. I can see him rolling up at Liverpool, reuniting with Klopp once more.

Last year of contract but getting on a bit in football terms - I can see why we might go for him. Price could be low. Would provide excellent cover for all positions up top. Creative, clinical. Came back from cruciate injury and immediately scored 2 goals in 3 games. If the price is low - like Moura, the risk is low.

What are the positions you guys reckon we can improve on in the summer? Apart of a central midfielder who can be rotated with (and will eventually take over from) Dembele, I can hardly see any urgent issues that need to be addressed:
  • Central Midfielder
  • Centre back - should Alderweireld leave
  • Left back - should Rose leave
The attacking compartment especially, with the addition of Lucas and the fact that Sonny can take over as CF, is as good as it gets in my opinion.

Llorente and sissoko out and reus in?

Eriksen, lamela, son, moura, ali, kane and reus would be incredible for the front 4 position if we play 4231 ... All players will be 25+ age and will be at their peak except ali ...

I can see this being one of those enquiries, where we may have been keeping tabs on another player (i.e. Pulisic) and have see Reus come back into the fold and figured it was worth a question - i'd be surprised if he's a key target but as you say, if the price was right and his injuries are behind him maybe there's a deal to be done.

Mostly agree, and partly disagree. Definitely agree regarding more composed quality and thinking in attack with higher calibre players, this is the difference you see when you watch those better teams in the Champions League for instance or Man City for that matter. Son's sometimes erratic nature with Dele's lack of care with the ball for example can see moves cheaply fall apart. I certainly wouldn't be sacrificing Lamela or Son though, although I'm not sure specifically how you mean. For the starting 11? To actually sell on? They can certainly be upgraded on, I just may not agree with what you possibly mean when you say sacrifice.

Indeed mate. I always find, with people at my work for instance that other football fans are always trying to find negatives regarding us, mostly mentioning no trophies or are players leaving us, to try and get at me. Ultimately I just say to be fair we shouldn't even really be doing what we've done these last few years with our spendings compared to the rest so I'm happy to just be doing what we're doing and they can't really say anything to that. Jealous fans love to focus on the negatives and ignore so many of the positives regarding us as a club right now.

And to be fair, sometimes I just look at out bench and see players like Moura sitting there and I just think fucking hell, we've come a long way.

Also what I find essential is that we're really raising the stature of the club right now, especially with the new stadium coming next season. And importantly, even if we end up losing players like Dele and Kane, I'd like to think that we'd be in a brilliant position to bring in players of absolute high quality to replace those we lose to maintain a high level at the club and I think we'll certainly be able to do that if we keep going. Most teams other than the big 2 or 3 teams in the world lose their very best players but it's how you replace them that can be vital.

Yeah, Reus is also a winner. That has real value in this squad. Interesting link, I like the idea of trading Llorente and Sissoko for Reus. The one downer being we wouldn't be going for Malcom if that were the case.

He'd be the best footballer at the club if he came. I'd love to see him linking up with Eriksen, that would be vintage Spurs stuff.
