Trying to coincide the 15 games he's fit a season and the 15 games we need him for would be a lottery.
Plus, like Luke Shaw, he's a player that, if he doesn't get 90 minutes every week, starts to acquire the body shape of Mike from the Dog and Duck 2nd XI...

I said in the England thread yesterday, every time I've seen Maddison you can see he has the technical quality for the PL, but I don't really think much of his decision making and game intelligence, when to do things and when not, right now for a top end PL club - it requires a heap of work. But you'd have to add the usual caveats that he's young and learning, until he makes the step up you just don't know etc etc.

Cheeky line in the Guardian Rumour section re our pursuit of Maddison:

"Elsewhere, there is significant hankering after James Maddison of Norwich. The goalscoring midfielder has been extremely impressive of late, and Tottenham lead the chase for his services, hoping he will be persuaded by Mauricio Pochettino’s proven track record in the Calendar Year Championship and Media Darlings Cup".

Note the last line those who feel we are unfairly pilloried in the press.

Looking at that Italy bench last night, my optimistic guess would be Florenzi. Been impressed with him at Roma and he fits the bill of being versatile for Poch. Seen him play as a RAM in a 4-2-3-1, and a RW in a 4-3-3. Also seen him play as a Right Wingback in a back 5 and he has experience of playing in the middle of midfield as like an engine room type. When he plays centrally, it’s very similar to the way Oxlade Chamberlain plays?

He is very quick and physical but also good on the ball and technically sound. With us having had dealings with Roma in the past (Lamela, Fazio, Baldini etc) I cant imagine our relationship is too bad or we wouldn’t deal with them still??

At 27 years old he could be a good investment for us for 3-4 years? Has European and International experience and is a Poch player in my eyes!

Can't see it myself. He's a useful player, but a classic Serie A type player, not one for foreign leagues.

I agree to the extent he is 27 and never played outside of Italy (same problem I would see with Insigne) but just looking at the Italy unused Subs, seemed like the most likely?

To be honest, Verratti and Buffon apart, that Italy bench was dogshit, so I hope it was just a routine scouting trip.

Would agree with you, let’s be honest, Verratti would be insane...but I don’t see it happening, not unless PSG were in the market for a marquee midfielder this year?

A lot of those players were not great though, Italy in a real transitional period...

If Verratti leaves PSG, there'll be much bigger fish than us in for him. Barca wanted him last summer, for instance, before they got Neymared.

Will we bring in a player that's world class or will we continue with what has made us so successful so far .would love a fit Bale but is the risk to much
