It costs a silly amount to buy anyone these days.

That is true.

@Hercules mentioned that we were put off Gelson Martins due to the fee, though. I'd be very surprised if Fernandes isn't just as expensive (talking £70-80m).

Could you see us paying such a fee without selling Alli, Kane etc?

problem I imagine isn’t so much the free, but the fact that someone worth that fee would command wages in excess of our highest earners but probably not even as good.

Subs not used: Buffon, Perin, Ferrari, Darmian, Ogbonna, Bonaventura, Verratti, Spinazzola, Verdi, Cutrone, Cristante, Florenzi

If I were to take a guess out of that list I'd say the players we're most likely looking at are Spinazzola who is a decent left sided wing back, Cutrone who could turn into a very good striker, Cristante who is a decent midfielder - not entirely inspired by any of those names however.

As for the rest - can't see the logic in being linked with any of those other names.

Buffon - nope
Perin - good keeper but, unless we move Lloris on, he's not coming here
Darmian - nope
Ferrari - left footed centre back, possible but unlikely
Ogbonna - lol, why does he still get called up
Bonaventura - don't see it personally
Verratti - great player, but we won't pay the transfer fee or wages
Verdi - tricky winger, but we have a few of those now
Florenzi - Think he's a right back, or right sided player, or centre midfielder - pretty sure I've seen him play all three positions...maybe

It's Cristante imo. CM for Atalanta

Only part of the quote though isn’t it. Outlets running with the edgy part for clicks
Hard to say - here is what Isco is quoted as saying in the article:

"In Madrid I don't have the confidence a player needs. The matches with the national team give me life, here I have the confidence of the coach.

"I want to show that I'm a good player."

"[Spain manager Julen] Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me.

"Maybe I'm the problem in Madrid.

"I don't know how to win Zidane's confidence."

Which is pretty much the headline. He does not say he wants to leave RM, but it would seem he is not happy, and might be amenable to a move. He turned us down before, and nothing to suggest we could afford him now - but he would be a "special" signing heading into the new stadium.

I'm assuming this has all been translated too?

Marca's own english site:

"In Madrid I don't have the confidence a player needs," he explained in his post-match interview.

"The matches with the national team give me life, here I have the confidence of the coach.

"I want to show that I'm a good player."

Zidane has often been accused of being difficult to work with by those who haven't been able to break into his regular team, and the Spanish midfielder isn't sure exactly what he needs to do in order to impress the Frenchman.

"Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me," he intimated.

"Maybe I'm the problem in Madrid.

"I don't know how to win Zidane's confidence."

Do with that what you will.

It’s a real shame we didn’t get Ünder who we were supposedly interested in. Looking a very good prospect indeed for Roma. Supposedly Barca already ant to sign him according to Monchi. Would expect more teams to start looking at the Turkish youth.

Sadly i think he's out of our reach. Imagine city will get him if he's coming to England.

Agree, i don’t really see the point in bringing in another AM unless we are looking at players of Isco’s caliber. We don’t really need one and there is no point in getting someone like Madison regardless of how good he may or may not be. We are already stacked and any developing young player would not be getting the required playing time needed to develop.

Tottenham are eyeing up a summer swoop for Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes but will have to part with £87million to bring him to the Premier League.

According to Portuguese news outlet A Bola, Mauricio Pochettino is in the market for another midfielder and is reportedly keen on bringing the 23-year-old to North London before the start of next season.
