My dream buy would still be Griezmann (emphasis on the 'dream'), but Vietto might be more achievable. Good little player who hasn't quite worked out at Atletico. Another option, at least.

It's already doing so (bar 4-5 clubs, EL and CL are the same quality).

A stable summer, players a year more experienced, a pre-season without disruption and we'll be awesome next year.

Especially with Chelsea/United/City in their cycles of disruption and decline.

City, Chelsea etc.. are all likely to be stronger next season, as our Liverpool.

The CL group stages are far tougher than EL group stages and this year we got knocked out by Dortmund who lost to a PL team yesterday.

We had a shit run in the cups this season.

Personally I think next season will be much tougher for us if we want to truly compete in all comps.

Ha, we really should have used some of the Bale money to buy Griezmann. Would have been the perfect signing.

Are you aware that we got knocked out of the domestic cups rather early and that our eleven with backup players got slaughtered by Dortmund? And to add to that we have been pretty lucky with injuries this season.

And last seasons PL winners went on a probably never to be repeated run of shit form.

He was the one I wanted but oh well haha... I feel bad about complaining when you look at what we've gone on to become. You win some, you lose some.

Because teams with big turnovers of players are falling apart, whereas stable clubs like us, Leicester and Arsenal, who signed 4 first team players between us last year, are thriving.

I'm not sure any Arsenal fan that you speak to right now would describe this season as a thriving one for them.

GK - Lloris & Vorm
RB - Walker & Trippier
LB - Rose & Davies
RCB - Alderweireld & Carter-Vickers
LCB - Vertonghen & Wimmer
DM - Dier & Dendoncker/Wanyama?
CM - Dembele & Bentaleb
RAM - Lamela & Son
CAM - Eriksen & Pritchard
LAM - Alli & Njie
CF - Kane & Batshuayi?

Plus Ball (CB/DM), Mason (CM/AM) and Fulham's Dembele (CF)
That's a solid 25 man squad there. 2 per position plus cover.

Three new signings, plus four outgoings to partially balance the books/clear space, Fazio, Yedlin, Carroll and Chadli.

Although possibly from media rumours, we may target an AM as opposed to extra CF, so Malli instead of Dembele. I'm half wondering whether that's actually a better option.

Throw in developmental backup of...
McGee, Walker-Peters, Ogilvie, Maghoma, Walkes, Amos, Winks, Oduwa, Onomah, Ward/Tracey, Harrison.

Though a number of those may be better served going on loan.

That'd do for me. (Plus obviously Poch confirming his long term commitment). Others may disagree, but I feel fine tuning over vast overhaul is key. Stability.

I believe Liverpool will make huge strides next year, maybe more so than Chelsea in closing that gap back up. Klopp has his first season out of the way, a few additions of his choice and a full summer, will be very reminiscent of where we are having had Poch's first full season out of the way.

Where does Mason and Onomah factor in all this?

Yes. With a more disciplined and robust partner like Dier, yes.

I'd say Dembele's contribution this season has been way better than Bentaleb's the previous season. Dembele is a much better disciplined player IMO. I wouldn't have minded Bentaleb alongside Dier to start with, but with the benefit of hindsight I think Dembele has been absolutely crucial to our success this season.

Bentaleb is very capable in that role, he's just been injured all this season.

This is new Spurs. We're not going to buy more crap filler 4th CBs like Fazio and Chiriches. 2CV is the real deal. I'm pretty confident he'll be fasttracked to 4th CB next season.

He is no where near capable of doing the job Dier does. He's not disciplined enough to play as a holding DM let alone be able to drop into CB when required. He may learn to be but he is not there yet. He is at his best playing box to box.

The way MP sets up we either need a very good ball playing CB, or a DM that is no stranger to playing at the back. I do wonder if instead of Dier cover we might not be better using Jan as cover, and getting another CB?

If we were to play another CB in midfield in place of Dier I'd prefer it to be Toby over Jan. I think he's got a better passing range and might be slightly more positionally astute. From what I've read he's also had experience playing in midfield at his former clubs.

That makes no sense. What's would be the point in spending money on another CB and use Jan as a makeshift-DM if Dier got injured - instead of just using the exact same money on a back-up DM?

I suggested that, or that Toby could do the Dier job (and we could look for a RCB back up). Not sure how many 'funny' and 'WTF' ratings I got, but it was quite a lot. Might be a bit too 'outside the box' for many.

In:
Dendoncker seems the obvious choice to back up Dier and Toby, versatile, good on the ball, can cover a lot of ground, young and relatively cheap, belgian. Would cover cb and dm while not clogging up the squad as much as buying a cb and a dm allowing for CCV to get his cup games.

I'd love Ousmane Dembele don't care if he's selfish he should be he's the best player on his team. He's an exceptional talent that would put us into the champions threshold.

Out:Carroll,Yedlin,Fazio and Chadli

Only chadli i feel bad about could play the super sub role but if we bring in O. Dembele and integrate Pritchard (I'm a big fan) they would be no room

For me I would have a word with Bayern about Gotze although I imagine Klopp and Liverpool may beat us to him.
I think Reus would be great for us too.
Can't see Leicester selling him to us but I'd like Kante. Lassana Diarra is probably a more likely target.
I can see Shane Long as a poor mans Harry Kane. Always willing to close down defenders, run the channels. Could be a good back up without having to change the way we play.
