Apparently we were interested in Julian Weigel last year who was going for £2m. What a player we missed out on.

I honestly believe (without getting shot) that we need couple attacking creative midfield alternatives, and two strikers with diversity and pace. I believe Davis should be sold as not good enough and too slow defensively. Personally I think Carroll is decent but not good enough, along with Bentaleb. We need cover for Dier, as it proved tonight.

Our first 11-13 players are good enough, but what is behind it is not. Onomah has a future. If I was to be clinical I would sell Davis, Bentaleb, Chiriches (out on loan), Fazio (out on loan), Davis and Mason. From what I have seen of Clint he needs more time, as does Don but not on present and past showing (Clint) ready. Yes we can talk about Pritchard, but dury is out as we have not seen him in the EPL.
I'd definitely keep Chiriches TBH.

To cope with potentially CL next year, we need as a minimum 3 additional first team player to come in. An additional defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a striker. Alongside that 2/3 squad players from academy or elsewhere are needed to come into squad.

I'm not panicking after this defeat against Durtmund.
Imo we don't need extensive surgery. Son N'jie will get better. Onomah at just 18 -19 will become a monster with more experience...

I reckon Pritchard will improve us Bentaleb is still young and will come on however with Carroll Winks Mason one could argue we could let one of them go and get another solid DM or playmaker, one things for sure we need another striker.

The point I'm trying to get over is that the squads still developing, these games are valuable experience.... Losing is socks so I get other peoples points of view wanting change.

Interesting quote, maybe hint from the gaffer:

"He added: “I told the players that to play at the next level you must compete with team like Borussia Dortmund which is a real test." (Mirror)

That is possibly a suggestion there will be a few leaving with better quality coming in.

In someone who is technically good, good in possession and can pass a ball. Being fleet of foot would be good too?

I think tonight told us we can definitely upgrade around the squad.
Not suggesting huge changes in the summer but if we want to compete in the CL we can probably do with upgrading in places I.e -

- 1 in for Bentaleb or Carroll
- 1 in for Chadli (I like him but meh) or Prichard if Pochettino doesn't fancy him
- 1 backup for Harry

That would help and the guys coming in have to be first 11 worthy. Won't be easy but that's the level we need if we want to carry on fighting up the top!

Another player in the Dier mould would be welcome, someone who is physically strong and both competent as a DM and can drop into centre back, allowing the full backs licence to push forward. This would allow Dier much needed rest and having the weight taken off his shoulders when he has a dip in form.

A creative attacking midfielder with a similar skill set as Eriksen or the ability to stretch defences is also essential if we're going to continue to rely on Rose and Walker as our 1st choice full backs as they provide the bulk of our crosses and their delivery is often p*ss poor.

A striker who's strong and quick is also needed.

Yedlin, Fazio, Carroll and Chadli to be sold. Bring in someone like Tielemans in midfield and Ousmane Dembele as a backup striker/AM option.
Edit - Also seems likely that Bentaleb could be sold in which case another more defensive midfield option could be bought. Having Pritchard and N'Jie fully fit will be like 2 new signings as well.

Many are saying a Kane back up, but I think we need someone to rotate with him who is as good or better, but different to Kane, as big and strong as Kane but with pace and possibly better technically who can also compliment him in a partnership. A back up just suggests someone who isn't quite as good but can fill in from time to time.

I think something like:

Out: fazio, yedlin, carroll

In: xhaka, insigne, berahino

Would be an absolute dream scenario

I've loved seeing how much faith our fans have in our young players and I agree for the most part, however, I have said before that I feel we need to be smart in the summer and try to acquire some CL experienced, high caliber players. Not many, I don't want to see 6 or 7 players coming but I would like possibly 3 high class players in 3 key areas such as:

CDM - Xhaka or Witsel
AM - Insigne or Ousmane Dembele
CF - Batshuayi or Lacazette

Additionally we should look to get a young striker to compliment our main front two, unless we see N'Jie as a future front man in which case we're probably ok.

Players like Tom Carroll have proven me wrong this season to a large extent as I didn't think he could cut it. In fact I think he is a gifted young player but I also think that Poch made a terrible decision in pairing him and Mason in CM when both are more forward thinking players. Bentaleb should have started with Mason or Carroll. What it proves is that when Dier doesn't play we dont have any other options and I would really like to see an experienced player come into that area of the pitch more than anywhere else. A leader, someone who has played CL football and can help to drive the team in big games.

It wouldn't remotely surprise me if Carroll, Mason, Bentaleb and possibly even Pritchard were all gone from the club within the next 18 months. All of these Academy guys are pure profit on the balance sheet, so if they aren't good enough to be competing for first choice, and they want first team football, and you're likely to make some money on them, it's inevitable they'll be sold. We saw it play out with Townsend, and I think we'll see it with a few of these players, too.

With that said, I think if we can finish in the top 3, we can attract some real quality this summer. One of Lacazette/Batshuayi+One of Witsel/Wanyama+One of O.Dembele/Boufal/Tielemans=Excellent summer.

All this talk of bringing in 3,4,5 players in summer is wildly optimistic I think. Poch has stated numerous times that we are taking a long term view with squad building and looking to integrate academy players. Therefore I doubt we will bail out on the you g players we have now as are strategy is to improve them rather than buy expensive off-the-shelf high level players. We also don't want to block a route to first team by clogging up the squad - like has happened in the past.

I really don't see us signing more than two first team players this summer, if that.
