I am sure next season players like mason , caroll , onomah will develop further and we will see much improved performance from them as well.. When Klopp's borussia Dortmund first played in UCL back in 2011-12 season ( they were the defending bundesliga champion ) , they failed to go the next round .. They lost all of their group stage matches against arsenal , olympiacos and merseille ... What important is the same group of players were still in the team and they made to the final of ucl on the very next season... It's all about experience which we are lacking at the moment ....

Though I would like us to go for a players for the attacking third ... Someone like lacazette or Mkhitaryan or Dembele and someone for the DM position....I think we will not buy more than two players in the upcoming transfer window

All this talk of bringing in 3,4,5 players in summer is wildly optimistic I think. Poch has stated numerous times that we are taking a long term view with squad building and looking to integrate academy players. Therefore I doubt we will bail out on the you g players we have now as are strategy is to improve them rather than buy expensive off-the-shelf high level players. We also don't want to block a route to first team by clogging up the squad - like has happened in the past.

I really don't see us signing more than two first team players this summer, if that.

Tbf, not sure poch thought we'd be right at the door of CL this season and the way that would open up the market to 2/3 choice players if we qualify.

He's also discovering the character of the players and may not think a couple are up to scratch (bents being one).

If we make CL wouldn't surprise me at all if we look to make 3 very strong additions.

We simply can't play the type of football we play across the season, across all comps, without a very strong group all of a similar standard.

For us, rotation is going to be absolutely crucial under this manager and he has to have the right quality across the squad.

There may well be some tough decisions ahead irt 2/3 players...bents and chadli will be gone for starters imo.

Next season is going to be no joke with pep, klopp, maureen et al managing our main competition.

I think the window might be a bit more interesting than some imagine.

Yeah I totally agree.

Nothing like a bad run to make everyone jump up and claim we need to sign basically half a starting team's worth of players though. Not to mention all the names being thrown around will likely go for around 20-30 mil each, so not too likely that will happen.

First stop, a player who you've always wanted, Berahino :)

I agree with a lot of the sentiments being posted.

Unless we choke big time, we will be playing UCL next season and looking at how we back up after Europa, we need some serious world class depth if we are going to be competitive in UCL.

We need 2 Kanes, 2 Eriksens, 2 Tobys etc. Chadli, Carroll and Mason etc just wont cut it so I think Poch did what he had to do to see how these "depth players" stood up to some decent opposition. A lot of our young squad are not physically mature enough to play 2 big games per week so the quality of our depth will be very important.

As to whom we recruit, I will leave that up to Poch and Co, they got us this far.

Exciting times ahead.

We'll certainly be buying a right-footed centre-half as understudy for Toby and a centre-forward - as a foil rather than an understudy - for Kane. The centre-half may well be bought for around £6m, a la Wimmer. The striker will clearly cost a lot more than that.

Reckon we'll try and upgrade on both Chadli and Lamela? Assuming we're in the CL, we'll hardly have a choice. But will we really splash out, say, £15m x 2?

Yep, I think I saw recently Martin Samuel saying that fans are obsessed with transfers. And we really are. Just look at deadline day. We like a shiny new signing don't we. I imagine it's just the hope they turn out to be amazing

I think it's been made abundantly clear by Poch's selections and comments that CCV is the back-up for Toby, we don't need anyone else.

I think CCV is much more likely to be starting in the prem for one of the promoted sides than for us next year on a regular basis. We need another center back in that spot, a straight swap in for Dier and someone to compete with and compliment Harry. Those are our three biggest incoming requirements. If we get CL direct to the group stage next year we will have plenty of games to offer everyone and may even be able to get another advanced midfielder. The only sales I can see this summer are Bentaleb (if he wasn't going to play last night then when), Vorm if he wants to go and Carroll if the right offer comes along.

not sure that's the case, with the CL I believe we will want to put our strongest 11 out, 1 to try and get through 2 to hopefully win the group. we won't want to finish in 3rd place, and be back in the Europa.

we are also going to have to hope the fixtures fall kindly after each group match, or we could definitely see burn out, if fielding strong teams in the CL.

we definitely need another striker that can play in the wide forwards role, cover for Dier and to be honest competition for Eriksen, unless Pritchard is to be trusted. shame he isn't getting game time for WBA, hopefully he will once they have their 40pts. hopefully CCV will be good enough as cover, and I'm sure he will get a run out in pre-season to see how he goes.

I have no idea why we would want to upgrade on Lamela. He is handed a specific role from Pochettino and executes that role admirably. I don't know about anybody else who'd be so comfortable in the role as a "defensive midfielder" in the final 3rd of the pitch.

As for Chadli, he has showed just about enough improvement under Poch to warrant one more season, imo.

Probably, but hopefully one of them (or Bentaleb) will be playing for another club.

We are talking about next season. It's not improbable that we'd look at a new CB. We got Dier when everybody thought we didn't need him, we got Wimmer when we all thought he'd be surplus for at least a season, if we have an equivalent CB on the radar, we should all be excited.

Don't trust him. Not buying his 'good boy' act.

Embolo or Lacazette top of my list of strikers.
It's so weird to agree with you constantly this weekend, there is a first for everything :LOL:

some spurs fans live for the transfer windows, i don't think they even care about the matches being played in between.

And some fans live for the possibility of seeing an obscure 17 year old from the understudies for the youth team developing into a starter in 10 years time. They probably go to more youth matches than PL matches. Just different perspectives.

Ask Bayern if they'd be willing to part with Gotze. No doubt he'd probably be too expensive and join a bigger club, but it's worth asking.

They were willing to let him go last summer & offered him as part exchange for Gundogan.. Dortmund didn't want to do business with Bayern.. He has a 37ml Euro buy-out.. a year left on his contract 25-30ml & they will sell.. it hasn't happened for him at Bayern & he will move imo.. we would be mad to not at least try for him.. If we could sign a player of that calibre then we can think of selling the likes of Carroll, Pritchard & Chadli.. Gotze offers everything those 3 do in one player otherwise I'd be wary of selling the likes of Chadli & taking away the number of goals he adds to the squad.
