50 mil....Lol, we won't be spending that sort of money in total in the Summer let alone on one player.

I believe we will, balanced against outgoings like Yedlin, Chiriches, Fazio for sure; and that alone would be at a guess in excess of 20m. I believe there may be one or two more going which is just what I think. If you believe the press that SB will finally be coming that has to be in the region of 20m. With in excess of 15m profit from transfers in the bank, along with new revenues coming in I can see us spending in excess of 40m.

You have to factor in CL guaranteed intake bring nearer 30m. The new TV money, along with other monies I would circa that at an average of 70-80m safe to spend without effecting the new stadium. Ofcourse you can see Daniel Levy letting it out that not much money available because of the stadium, as it may hike the prices up on our targets.we will soon find out.

if we don't sign some serious depth we wont last long in UCL
I don't think we will focus on the UCL at all, as you say even our best 11 won't stand up to the big boys. I think we will focus on cementing our top four status which will be hard enough as I can see Chelsea and Utd coming back in to contention with the right manger and another fat summer spend. Next season PL will be a lot harder then this season, UCL will just be a fun novelty that may bring us some extra cash but I'm sure everyone at the club knows we don't have a hope in hell of winning it with the team we currently have.

Bollocks. We wouldn't put all this effort in to be in the CL just to not give a shit about it when we get there.

I'm not saying we are going to play our b team, just saying that we will be focussed on the PL primerialy again next season.

Not do I but was using that as an example of that at all makes sense.
Was told that Summer was going to be quiet, and that approach to transfers would remain the same with or without CL. All about developing the very young and talented squad we already have. I don't expect more than two or three senior additions tbh, even with outgoings.

That two or three senior additions can certainly cost atleast 50m ... right ?

That's all we need really. A couple of experienced players would do the world of good. Don't know why but I assume at least one is going to be Belgian...

Honestly appreciate your input Trix 100%. If that is so I really do worry as i think it is more 4 senior additions of quality that we need. I personally do not believe our squad has the quality depth needed if we enter CL, as well as EPL, along with the two domestic cups. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Would like to see us find a specialist player for the lam position and decent cover for Kane and Dier. I'd be happy to see n'jie make a full recovery too.

A very sensible approach to squad building and not too many in comings to disrupt the settled team we currently have.

Don't forget the likes of Onomah, Pritchard and CCV will also be a season further down the line. Domestic cups would be perfect for them mixed in to a few more experienced heads.

Those behind the scenes have taken years to implement our development system and it has come at considerable cost too. It was always the plan, that along with the new stadium, we could achieve a sustainable squad able to repeatedly challenge the financially superior teams. You don't just drop that plan when it is clearly paying dividends. This was always a long term development and we need to stay focused on the fact it is clearly working.

We have young players who we expect to develop with experience though. There would be no point stopping them getting that experience by bringing in another player to block their path.

Our strategy is not about constantly buying to improve, it's about buying or bringing through young players to develop over time.

I wouldn't be surprised if we just brought in Berahino/Batshuayi type as we have excellent cover in other areas,

Pritchard would be like another signing, Carter Vickers will play a more prominant role in the first team squad.

We may bring forward a few of our exciting youngsters, the likes of Edwards, Shay Harrison etc to bolster the first team squad.

Haha, love this optimism. Some of it could even rub off on me.

Our coefficient is ok, I understand, so we might not get a group of death assuming we do qualify?

Anyway, the goal has to be get out of the group, then put on a better and braver performance against the really big boys we run into. As for winning it one day, well they did, riding the biggest luck wave you've ever seen. Lightning might strike again but one step at a time eh.

But to be able to compete in the group and the league simultaneously we do need depth and I'd hope levy is willing to add two quality players early to give Poch the summer to knock them into shape. Anything less would be a disappointment and smack yet again of trying to do stuff on the cheap. It's gonna be a sellers market though that's certain. With few bargains even in the under 21 bracket. Just hope he has the nads to secure whoever might be on top of Mitchell and Pochs list. They fkin deserve that after Alli Toby and Herr Vimmer.

For me it has to be....

1 good quality striker, ready to rotate/partner with Kane. Example: Batshuayi/Berahino

1 good quality, experienced CDM/CM to rotate/partner with Dier. Example: Witsel/Xhaka

Less essential would be....

1 good quality attacking midfielder/winger to rotate in with Son, Chadli, Lamela. Example: Insigne/Dembele (Rennes) /Boufal

After that I'd like to see a young striker that we can develop and who will occasionally play in domestic cups, europe and sub appearances in league. Such as Dembele from Fulham.

In:
DM: Dendonker (Anderlecht) Or Cook (Leeds)
ST: Lacazette (OL), Batshuayi (OM) or Embolo (Basel)

Along with Dembele (Fulham), Maddison (Norwich, should they go down) and Pickford (Sunderland) perhaps also that Watmore lad if Sunderland go down as well, I know a lot of people praise him!
