Ok so I watched Rennes vs Lyon last night to get a look at Ousmane Dembele.

The game was really good, open, end to end stuff. Dembele struggled to get into it in the first 10 mins or so because Rennes just couldn't deal with Lyon in the early exhanges. However, pretty much from his first proper touch he picked the ball up, flicked past one player and then burst up through the pitch on a 40/50 yard run before getting fouled on the edge of the box. He took the subsequent free kick forcing the Lyon keeper into a good save.

Whenever he get on the ball after that point you could see how quick and skillful he is and he was the only one for Rennes likely to have a major impact. The crowd were buzzing every time he got it and you can just tell he's a special talent. By all accounts there were some 20 or so scouts in attendance, including ourselves.

One thing to note is that Lyon have some awesome players too. Standout performances from Jordan Ferri, Sergi Darder, Rachid Ghezzal and Alex Lacazette. Umtiti is a class act at centre back too but I'm personally a huge fan of 19 year old left winger Maxwell Cornet. Lyon signed him in January of 2015 and he's only broken into the team since January this year. He's fast and skillful, much like Dembele, but bigger in the body and therefore far stronger. He collected a pass from Darder and burst down the left, skinning two players on the way and holding off a third before playing a composed square pass across the box for Ghezzal to tap-in for 1-0.

Lyon went 2-0 up after a cross from Ferri was headed in by Lacazette. Dembele's corner led to Rennes getting a goal back as he swung it to the back post for a tap-in by their centre half, Fallou. Then Dembele's saved shot landed at the feet of the Rennes left winger, Boga, who slotted home for it to finish 2-2. Overall Dembele was still able to have a massive impact for Rennes by getting 1 assist and effectively another with his shot leading to the equaliser.

In conclusion, I would be recommending making a move for Dembele now if I were the Spurs scout. In the same way that Dybala was lighting up Serie A last season and Juve snapped him up, Dembele is similarly brilliant and looks so confident at 18 years old that the risk involved would be low IMO. I would also be having a serious look at Ghezzal and Cornet from Lyon who are both superb. Lacazette on the other hand I'm starting to doubt. He's a very good player but he's not a natural finisher. Harry Kane is a natural finisher and I think Lacazette is more likely to have periods of struggle like he did in 1st half of the season. He'd also come at a very high price and I think we could find a more naturally gifted forward at a lower price.

Check out the highlights of the game below if you like.........

Went to see Anderlecht vs Kortrijk last night. Tielemans was poor, he had one or two nice passages of play but was not good enough, certainly not nearly as good as his early potential suggest. He is still only 18 mind so maybe his value would have gone down some. But Kortrijk are shit so should have done better. He played the box to box role. Apart from him Preat again looks like a boss. Been a fan of his for a while now, he is quite similar to Eriksen but still fantastic vision and very good technique and tracks back a lot (which I never realised before). He would be a great Poch player if we needed another play maker, unfortunate I think we are more in need of a pace winger. Who ever gets Preat will have a very good player on their hands as he is still very young. Played on the right yesterday. Okaku upfront was a beast, perfectly suited to the PL, big, strong good touch and finish, unfortunately he is a little old for us, 27/8 I believe, but he could be a steel for someone. Anderlcht won 3-0 with a man sent of late on. Was a fun game to go to.

Everton won't sell for less than £60m.

This may get a few laughs but that may actually be worth paying. He is 22 and has already got over prem goals and has scored 119 goals in 268 games

If he pushes for a move to us price could be £50m

But we're not going to switch to 442. So essentially we're talking about doubling our transfer record for a Kane alternate? Yes Lukaku can play wide and Kane can drop deeper, but it won't be the norm.

Doubling our transfer record? 60m is more than doubling. 52m is doubling.

Football - Barca fail with €35m Dembele bid - but how good is the teen superstar?

But even so, it was a big shock to read reports on Monday that Barcelona had made a €35 million (£27.1m) offer for the 18-year-old – and been rejected by Rennes.

With nine goals and four assists in just 18 Ligue 1 games this season, the talented forward is rapidly becoming one of the most in-demand players on the continent, with scouts flocking to his matches.

Barcelona’s own sporting director Robert Fernandez was in the stands when Dembele scored a magnificent hat-trick against Nantes on March 6.

France Football reports that Barca made their move after this impressive display, only to be spurned by Rennes. Bayern Munich and Manchester City are also said to be on his case.

So, what’s the big fuss about?

What Dembele can do
The teen sensation had his best performance in front of Fernandez when he put Nantes to the sword. You can see two of those goals in the video below.
Dembele was also described as “the new prodigy of French football” by BT expert Julien Laurens in February, picking out some of his recent highlights.

What they say about him
Rennes advisor Mikael Silvestre, formerly of Arsenal and Manchester United, caused a bit of a stir in France when comparing Dembele to Cristiano Ronaldo, who was 18 when he joined Silvestre at Old Trafford.

"You have to put it in context," Silvestre said. "I compared him to Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, when he joined Manchester United. I could have taken [Nicolas] Anelka at PSG, Thierry Henry or David Trezeguet. Players who, at 20 years old, played the World Cup in France in 1998. Players who were very mature for their age.... I know the player. He has his head on his shoulders.

"When I was comparing him to Cristiano it was, for me, a way of putting pressure on him in terms of demand. To reach that level, you have to be hard working. He is already — he can still develop.

Has he the ability to become a really great player? I say yes without hesitation. But it's the mindset that will make the difference.

Sounds like a fantastic talent, hopefully our youth policy and French captain could sway things in our favor, however with the other teams and amounts mentioned it seems unlikely.

50 mil....Lol, we won't be spending that sort of money in total in the Summer let alone on one player.

Probably right. Our net spend will continue to be very low and at the moment I believe we'll be holding onto all of our main stars.

So looking at the squad if we purchase Dembele the most likely players we'd be looking to sell would be Chadli, Mason and Bentaleb. None are bringing in that level of money and if we sold either of Mason and Bentaleb we'd probably need to buy a replacement for them too.
