No idea. But if we didn't like it, then we could argue for equality. The only reason it has been happening is because we are complying. My real question now is, what do the broadcasters gain from showing us on a sunday rather than a saturday? And what do we gain if anything?

I answered some of these points in my earlier comment. What if the club actually has no issue playing on Sundays? It's not about gaining or losing anything, it's simple - our fixture list demands that we have to play on Sundays due to the Europa League, and Sky choose to show us on Sundays.

I'm really struggling to see your issue. Happy to take the tv money but not happy to be flexible for fixtures? It is what it is. The only way to change it would be to pull out of any tv deal costing us £60m a year or to not qualify for europe. You can't really compare our fixtures to CL teams as they won't be forced to Sunday as often due to playing CL on a wed.

I bet if you went through Man Utd's fixture list and everytime they play CL football move their next match to a Sunday, they would have as many as we do.

My issue is simple. When we are able to play on Saturdays, we do not.

and Sky choose to show us on Sundays.
Obviously they do, I'm just saying it makes no sense why they do and there really shouldn't be much stopping Tottenham from playing more on Saturdays when they can to make it fairer on fans who can't make sunday games.

You seem to still think we have a choice in the matter. The amount of times sky choose us for a sunday is not in our hands. If you have a problem with that you are better off moaning about sky rather than the club for 'choosing' not to play on saturdays.

Don't see why it's so ridiculous and confusing, we've had Europa matches on Thursday meaning that we cannot play until Sunday. The other times we've played on a Sunday is due to TV scheduling.
Some people are easily confused it seems

So we will only have two 3pm Saturday kick offs until the new year??
just one actually, Stoke on 28 Dec. Our other Sat match (v Sunderland) is a late kick off!
Going back to the main question of the thread, generally speaking Sky's 1st choice games are on Sunday, it's matches such as Southampton v Fulham that they stick on Saturday night, presumable because that slot has lower viewing figures. We are a bigger draw so get the Sunday slots. I am sure if you look at TV fixtures alone we've got around the same number of Sunday matches as the rest of the 'Big 6'. The only reason we have more Sunday matches than anyone else is the Europa

OK, here's a bit more detail.

Sunday 18th August Vs Palace - we're picked for TV
Thursday 22nd August - Europa League qualifier 1st leg
Sunday 25th August Vs Swansea
Thursday 29th August - Europa League qualifier 2nd leg
Sunday 1st September Vs Arsenal

International break

Saturday 14th September Vs Norwich
Thursday 19th September - Europa League
Sunday 22nd September Vs Swansea
Tuesday 24th September Vs Villa
Saturday 28th September Vs Chelsea
Thursday 3rd October - Europa League
Sunday 6th October Vs West Ham

International Break

Sunday 20th October Vs Villa - we're picked for TV
Thursday 24th October - Europa League
Sunday 27th Vs Hull

As the above shows, the only games we've played on Sunday NOT due to the Europa League were against Palace and Villa, and that's because we were picked for TV. Simples.

And next week we don't play on Saturday either after our League Cup game against Hull on Wednesday.

That's can't be the reason we are playing on Sunday though as Hull, Newcastle and City all play on Saturday.

Since when was football only broadcast on Sundays? Are you forgetting about Saturdays early and late kick offs? This is my point. When we CAN play on saturday we haven't been and will continue not to for this year.

Yeah but BT and sky can only broadcast a certain amount of games on each day.

This could be said another 100 times and he'd still repeat the same questions...

How have I repeated "the same questions". If you'd read my opener properly and all subsequent posts through this thread, you'd see that I acknowledge both the Europa factor and the TV factor. So you make no sense there. What I have said, is that is doesn't make much sense that we are selected for broadcast on a Sunday more than other top 6 teams. By the end of December, we will have had 7 non Europa matchweeks and yet we will have only played 4 matches out of a possible 7 on a Saturday. 4 out of 7 may not sound bad, but it is when you consider how many Sunday matches we need to play because of Europa. I would suggest it should be 7 out of 7, playing all that we can.

And yet United, City, Liverpool and Chelsea have only been selected twice this season so far. Arsenal, three times. Sunday broadcast can't be all that lucrative.

I don't see the problem here, we get an extra days rest. Would you rather go up to Everton after only having 2 days off in between matches, or 3 days off? I know what'd prefer.

I'm glad some people understand.

I don't see it as being a big problem though ;)

FYI - I live in Singapore and was up until 2am this morning following the Hull game. The scheduling is always going to be tricky for me, but looking at it from a pragmatic point of view I don't see what difference it makes whether we play on a Saturday or a Sunday. The only thing is tradition I guess?
