What difference does it make ? We have to play against another EPL team who are also playing on a Sunday. The real issue is whether we should take the Europa League seriously ? It probably cost us 4th place last season , it is a flawed ebergy draining competition ideal for a team like
Friedel
Naughton Kaboul Dawson Fryers
Lennon Sandro Sigurdsson Chadli
Defoe Adebayor

None of who should be in our Sunday starting line up which I would love to see as

Lloris
Walker Chiriches Vertonghen Rose
Townsend Capoue Paulinho Eriksen
Lamela
Soldado

None of these should travel to any away Europa match. Who cares about it ?

I don't see the problem here, we get an extra days rest. Would you rather go up to Everton after only having 2 days off in between matches, or 3 days off? I know what'd prefer.

It makes no difference if Everton are playing in the league cup as well which they are. We want some Saturday fixtures don't we?

Anyone who wants the club to be successful such as Levy, AVB, the players and fans.

So there has only been two games where we've played on a Sunday when there hasn't been Europa league? Big deal then!

Heart bleeds for the first three. The CL position was there for the taking last year. Everyone knows if you end up in the Europa you're not just Thursday nights, you're Sunday fixture as well.

Don't want Sunday games? secure a top four spot and if you can't do that, make sure you finish 6th and don't win a pot.

I don't see it as being a big problem though ;)

FYI - I live in Singapore and was up until 2am this morning following the Hull game. The scheduling is always going to be tricky for me, but looking at it from a pragmatic point of view I don't see what difference it makes whether we play on a Saturday or a Sunday. The only thing is tradition I guess?

Tradition is one issue, yes. I don't particularly care about that but some would. It's more about fairness. The simple mathematical rule of probability says that there would be a Significant portion of fans of any club who would struggle or worse, not be able to make it to a Sunday match due to church commitments or any other number of reasons. It just seems so stupid to not be able to play on a Saturday just because for some ridiculous, mysterious reason we are picked for TV broadcast on a Sunday instead of a Saturday early/late kick off. As we play enough forced Sunday matches (due to Europa) it seems only logical to play every possible Saturday, with one of the other big teams taking the Sunday slot. Simple. I am in Australia, so this doesn't affect me in the slightest. However I am sure I am presenting my case in a similar way to those who are affected and annoyed by it, of which I am sure there are many.

By the end of December, we will have had 7 non Europa matchweeks and yet we will have only played 4 matches out of a possible 7 on a Saturday. 4 out of 7 may not sound bad, but it is when you consider how many Sunday matches we need to play because of Europa. I would suggest it should be 7 out of 7, playing all that we can.

I would've thought that a) work and b) involvement in football (even rugby) would mean a higher proportion of fans would struggle to make a Saturday match.

I don't care too much as coach on a Saturday and Sunday so my trips to see Spurs are less frequent these days, however yesterday I was able to watch that breathtaking display of.....sideways passing and non creation of chances.

And those fans of ours are well looked after aren't they? Excessively so. So what about the others?

Sorry you've lost me there mate!

Are you saying that fans who can't attend Saturday games are excessively well looked after?

with us playing on Sundays after not playing Europa means we are being shown live on Sky, means I get to see Spurs games more.

BT selected games they wanted, and we have been selected on only a few games, 1 which is a Sunday v Newcastle. No team would get 4 slots at 17:15, so with your idea those Spurs fans that can't get to games would miss out on seeing Spurs on Sky.

i'm very glad we haven't many 17:15 slots as I have to work Saturday nights

What do you mean "4 slots?" And are you forgetting the early kick off?

the early kick off is the BT slot

the 17:15 slots are for Sky, and no 1 team between the start of the season up to Christmas will of played at 17:15 more than twice. ok we haven't been selected for 1, but there is a chance the reason why we haven't will be that the teams selected for those slots, have had to play a CL fixture. when they have a CL fixture they don't play on a Sunday.

get top 4 this season and there will be a lot of games next season on a Saturday, but at the moment while we are playing Europa we will be playing on Sundays

You've answered alot of my questions there actually. It does appear that BT doesn't like us very much and it seems that Sky's big games are always on a Sunday. Most of their Saturday 17.30 games are pretty ordinary, just looking at their upcoming games schedule. Any idea why CL teams can't play a simple game of football on a Sunday just because they have had to play in the Champions League? There really can't be a logical answer to that question. Are you sure though?

the main reason for CL teams to play on a Saturday, is too make sure they have sufficient time to recover for a CL fixture. at the end of the day, if a EPL team do well in the CL it helps keep us having 4 places available for the following years.

if we start failing to get teams out the group stages or a little further in the comp, eventually we will only get 3 places in the CL

I do believe Spanish teams actually play Fridays when their teams are involved near the semi's, though I can't be 100% on that

Saturday kick-offs at 3pm are a classic footballing ingredient for me and I'm sad that we don't have them anymore at White Hart Lane.

Yeah, I feel like an idiot I have to admit. I thought you were saying CL teams play on Saturday when they are coming off the back of a CL matchweek, not going into one. Yes, of course that makes sense to play on Saturday in those instances. You may well have the solution to my whole argument. A bad combination of BT not liking us very much and the need for CL teams needing to play saturday's before a CL gameweek and therefore grabbing the TV slot being a big team.

might not be that BT don't like us (though selling Bale might not of helped) but a case of giving as many teams a chance to appear on it. also due to Europa fixtures it has meant that our only worthwhile fixture worth showing was the 1 they did v Chelsea

Did you make the Norwich match? And don't miss Stoke on December 28! The only 2 of the season for this year! It is sad isn't it. Can you tell me when they started to drop off? Let me guess. After our 2 fifth place finishes under Jol? I guess this and our attacking brand of football would have firmly cemented us as a TV team, with United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arse being selected less to make way for us. Not to mention that the Jol era delivered Europa.
