fuck me, noone could say T20 is boring!!! phew, i'm out of breath!

so we had 2 targets here, 144 and 164. 144 eliminated india and left us in a situation where an Aus win later today put us through on net runrate but an Windies win put them through on points. 164 eliminated india and won us the match so that in the event of a WI win later on, we are level on points and it comes down to run rate.

with 8 balls left we were 139 so looking very good for the 144 but still needing 25 off 8 to win the match. we then went 6,6,6,1,2,1 so now we're on 161 with two balls to come. needing 164 for a win.
next ball wicket! 3 needed off the last - boom 6!

I watched most of the game but switched over to the Blackpool game about a half an hour ago. Missed all the excitement :-(

cricinfo says that before this game we had a 19 run handicap lead on WI. and we just won by 4 runs (well by 5 wickets as we batted second but we won on the last ball of the match so i would guess that counts as 4 runs) so i would guess that a win by 23+ runs would do it for WIndies and anything less would put us through

they were 90-1 off ten overs and finished 163-5. that's 73-4 off the last 10, which given a great start like that is piss poor

I put 4000 on them to win the tournament @ 9/2 after they beat the West Indies. They were 9/1 yesterday. :|

looking good for us, but we really don't look in the form to win the whole shebang. our attack is not the most threatening, murali won't return, and on his IPL form i don't know why dilhara didn't keep out welegedera or thushara. the top order are batting inconsistently and jayasuriya is contributing nothing but seems to be undroppable.

67/5 after 11 overs, needing a 24 run winning margin. i hasten to add i would not normally support Aus against WI.

Where is Umar Gul for pakistan by the way? they guy was amazing for pakistan in the last t20 world cup. Im assuming hes injured or something, it would be criminal for him to be dropped.

we are playing with 9 wickets basically in every game. we might as well start off with 9 wickets. it would at least mean he couldn't waste any balls before he fucks up.

fucking depressing

it's puts extra pressure on the rest of the batsmen knowing that with jayasuriya in we have only 9 wickets and he may eat up some balls before he gets out. jayawardena out to a good ball. sangakkara threw his wicket away, stupid dismissal. dilshan got out being too aggressive but that's how he plays - sometimes it works and if he stays in a while he scores quickly and seizes the initiative and puts pressure on the fielding side. of course it's risky and given that we effectively start a wicket down because we keep including sanath it can leave us a bit fucked.

so sanga's wicket is the big let down, catching practice to KP

Looking good for England at the moment. Its been hilarious watching Kapugedera trying to hit the slower ball. In a w ay its a shame he holed out to Bresnan as his scoring rate was about 60.

But fair play to England as we have bowled really well and once again got our tactics spot on! Just need to get Matthews now and if we can keep Sri Lanka below 130 then i'm reasonably confident that we can chase that down!
