I said this was dead a week ago but it’s with Fekir going, Lyon surely aren’t going to sell their two best cms ahead of a CL campaign

Nor is it up to Lyon, not unless they take up the option to buy

Agreed, he's still an Amiens player at the moment so what Lyon want doesn't really matter when there are other clubs interested in signing him for more than the 8m euro fee they can get him for.

Reality is that Amiens can potentially get upward of 15-20m for him unless he says he only wants to go to Lyon, in which case they will end up getting the 8m they agreed in the loan deal. With the likes of us, City and Utd being linked, can't see him settling for Lyon but who knows, he may do.

Going to Lyon is possibly his best choice for development though.

Agreed but players too often chase the money (City/Utd) over progressing their career at the right club (Lyon/Spurs).

He may also wanna stay in france, wouldn't blame him. Only 21 after all. I guess the dilemma is that chances to sign for big premier league clubs may only come along once.

I think it's a test of his character. He could easily go to Lyon and mature a couple of years before getting signed by a bigger club, if he is that good.

I don’t buy this argument.

It’s ambuguous whether the clause has been triggered. Aulas said he would trigger it weeks ago and he is easily worth 50m+.

Ndombele has reportedly turned down PSG who tried to intercept the deal.

There may be a theoretical possibility (we don’t know) but in practice I don’t see it.

Listen, I'm not claiming to be in the know on this but it stands to reason that if Lyon's clause was one they can trigger and have the deal sewn up then why haven't they done it yet?

I would be amazed if Amiens painted themselves into a corner with the loan deal to include an obligation for Lyon to buy at 8m that prevents other clubs from bidding. It would be incredibly bad judgement if they rated the player themselves, which I would think they did.

Granted, I'm making assumptions here, but surely Amiens added the option for Lyon to buy at 8m but that is only if another club doesn't want to get involved and better that offer. If no other teams bid then Lyon can pay as little as 8m to sign him.

As I say, we signed Toby from under Saints noses in a very similar scenario, otherwise they'd have had him for less than 12m or so that we paid.

If we lose Dembele I think what we will miss most is a player who can receive the ball under pressure and deal with it. Dembele is an absolute master at this, so much so that when he does lose possession (e.g.F.A. Cup v Utd) it hits us really hard because the other players don't expect it to happen. N'Dombele seems to have plenty of strength and close control so all good there but there have been some concerns voiced at his decision making under pressure. I'm all for signing him overall though and think he'd be a top acquisition and has plenty of time to develop.

Fair enough.

I cannot think why Lyon would fix a price which others can encroach on. Amiens have perfor’lance related bonuses and may have seen that as a good price. It’s only this year he’s taken off
