Sunday in itself means next to nothing, there is easily enough rest for Chelsea game. It's more about who played on thursday and sunday and how much, preferably start with those who didn't start at sunday, if not possible on all cases, choose players that didn't start with both thursday and sunday. So no for Dembele, Paulinho is a possibility alongside Sandro. I wouldn't be that pleased to see likes of Bentaleb on pitch, with squad we have it's neccessity to advance and we won't by throwing physically lacking players onto central midfield. I mean Villa away won't be easy.

Nope, don't agree. Don't want Paulinho risked with Chelsea on Saturday, what an opportunity to beat them this weekend.

Friedel
Naughton Kaboul(Dawson) Chirches Fryers
Sandro Holtby
Lamela Bentaleb Kane (Dawkins)
Defoe (Kane)
Shame Fredericks and Stewart seem to be injured as they could maybe have allowed us to rest Daws if Kabs is unfit; mind you with an inexperienced back four Daws may be needed.
Similarly a shame Obika seems to be unavailable, if Defoe is unfit he could have played up top allowing Kane to continue in the Hulk role.
Considered Milos in midfield with Holtby as No. 10, but think that would be too defensive.
Would be a nice game to give Dawkins a run, perhaps from the bench.

Who the fuck is Bentaleb?

Youth player, very talented and featured in the 1st team during pre season I think.

Still seems weak to me though needs to bulk up a bit, would rather see Veljkovic play as I think he's more suited to the holding role. Better passing range.

Friedel

Naughton--Kaboul?--Chiriches--Fryers

Sandro--Holtby

Lamela--Sigurdsson--Chadli?

Defoe?
Seems like a sensible line up. Maybe Kane, Bentaleb and Dawkins come into consideration. With only two days recovery from a hard fought game we can't afford to risk starting many first choice players

I actually thought it was Dembele using auto correct...

This game has injuries written all over it if we play fatigued players after the 2 games we've just played. In a way it's a shame a lot of our youngsters are on loan because this would be a perfect game for them.

I don't want to sack the League Cup off, but we really need to ensure our players are fit for Chelsea, and that we don't pick up needless injuries.

Friedel
Naughton Chiriches Veljkovic Fryers
Sandro Bentaleb
Lamela Kane Coulthirst
Defoe

Summat like that.

AVB really should swallow his pride and include Ade for this game. I doubt Defoe can be involved tomorrow and we have a trip to Russia coming up and I don't want the likes of Soldado, Eriksen or Paulihno anywhere near those games.

Get Ade playing tomorrow and then if AVB still wants to teach him a lesson, make him play in Anzhi :)

That depends on Ade though.. is he fit, is he willing to play? No benefit if the answer to either is no.

Would rather play Kane. He needs minutes if he is to progress.

As much as I would be disappointed to go out, the match vs Chelsea has to be the priority and as such I would risk the Capital One match by playing a B team with the first team rested for the weekend. Whilst we have a good and deeper squad, any player who would be deemed a possible starter or option off the bench should likely be kept clear.

I certainly would not play Sigurdsson for the whole game against Villa unless AVB is planning on playing Holtby vs Chelsea.

In post Cardiff interview, AVB said most of the players who featured in Wales wouldn't be able to play against Villa -->

With that in mind, I'd expect to see something like:

Lloris

Walker Chiriches Kaboul Fryers

Holtby Sandro

Lamela Kane Townsend

Defoe

I'd say that's spot on. You saved me some typing :)

Reluctant to play Lamela as he should definitely feature from the start against Chelsea but would likely bring him off for Townsend second half to keep them both reasonably fresh.

Holtby is another who is banging on the door but would be tempted to play him here but would almost certainly start Siggy on the basis that he shouldn't be starting on the weekend.

Friedel
Naughton Dawson Chiriches Fryers
Sandro Holtby
Lamela Kane Sigurdsson
Defoe

I'd guess that Capoue, Lennon and Rose will remain out and that Chadli and Defoe would be fit again. I think the team to face Aston Villa will end up being:
GK - Friedel
LB - Fryers
CB - Chiriches
CB - Kaboul
RB - Naughton
CM - Sandro
CM - Paulinho
AM - Chadli
AM - Holtby
AM - Lamela
CF - Defoe

Subs
Lloris, Vertonghen, Dawson, Dembele, Townsend, Soldado, Kane

I'd guess Fryers will get a start as it allows Naughton to play on the right (the side he is more comfortable on) and Walker and Vertonghen can be rested for this game (although they maybe on the bench).

This might be a good game to give Chiriches his start and continue the return from long term injuries for Kaboul and Sandro.

I think Paulinho will start ahead of Dembele or other midfielders as he scored against Cardiff, he can start building some understanding with Sandro (I'd imagine they would already have some decent understanding as they probabally would have been in the same squad for Brazil at some point) and it might be worthwhile giving Dembele a rest. However if it is too risky to play Paulinho maybe Holtby could play there and Sigurdsson or Eriksen can play in the attacking midfield role.

I hope Chadli is fit for this. I think he has a lot more to show and the sooner he settles the better. Playing alongside Lamela, Holtby and eventually Eriksen will help him a lot I feel.

Who the fuck is Bentaleb?

French (might be Moroccan) youngster. Good on the ball technically, can play CM and has an edge to his game in terms of aggression. Think somebody said once that he's like a Taarabt that can play CM and do the dirty work.

Physio room has Kaboul, Defoe and Rose listed with unknown return dates. Chadli for the 28th September, Capoue and Lennon 6th October.

Only guesstimates of course, but hope the situation is better than that!!!

If we lack Defoe, Rose, Chadli, capoue, lennon for this and Saturdays game and Kaboul only can do one game a week this is how i would setup our team for the next 2 games:

VS Villa:

Lloris
Naughton - Veljkovic - Chiriches - Fryers
Sandro - Bentaleb
Lamela - Holtby - Gylfi
Kane

VS Chelsea:

Lloris
Walker - Daws - Kaboul - Verts
Dembele - Paulinho
Lamela - Eriksen - Townsend
Soldado

- Lamela could use a couple of starts, and since they are 4 days apart i think he should be allright.

- Gylfi and Naughton might pick up injuries due to only this monday between the cardiff and villa games to rest, but id rather risk them than most other player. Cynical i guess, but unless we field several more u21 players someone have to get overplayed.

- If Sandro is total boss vs Villa i can see him forcing his way into our midfield for the Chelsea game, possibly as part of a trio in a midfield 3 with Paulinho and Dembele with Townsend/Soldado/Eriksen as a forward 3 in 4-3-3. Depends on how defensive AVB want us to line up.

- Dont think Ade will ever feature for us again, but hope im wrong since he is needed. But will trust AVB's judgement on this, he deserves that.
