I know its early, and we have no idea on the injury situation for some but I need to focus on something more positive, and something to hope for wouldn't be a bad thing to discuss right now because its got pretty depressing in here.

I'm getting down on my knees to pray every night this week for Dembele to make this game. Normally I would prefer him to play more centrally/deeper but I would play him further up for this one to put emphasis on winning the ball high up the pitch as Arsenal certainly like to play out from the back.

AVB will play the same system but I hope he brings in young Tom Carroll and I would put him in alongside Sandro, he's more mobile than Hudd - and he can certainly pick passes, to get us moving on the front foot more frequently. Even I'm losing patience with Hudd and young Tom Carroll's slight stature shouldn't be an issue against Arsenal, he'll not get overpowered with Sandro supporting him.

Come on AVB, fortune favours the brave not the stubborn.

I would go for:

Lloris

Naughton
Gallas
Caulker
Vertonghen

Sandro
Carroll

Lennon
Dembele
Bale

Adebayor

I'm assuming Walker will be a doubt and even if he isn't it might be time to give Naughton a go, just wish Ekotto was back but as it stands we'll have to keep Vert there.

The best way to defend is to attack...and if we are duty bound to lose then lose in style on the front foot...to dare is to do!

I've lost confidence in Huddlestone now (probabely will change my mind), it's taken me a while to come to this conclusion because I've seen good aspects to Tom's game but few and far between another player testing my patience now is Lennon who needs competition, until then is a most in the starting 11 looking at our squad. Vertonghen???...when is Assou-Ekotto and Dembele back?

Villas Boas please start Lloris.

..................Lloris
Walker Gallas Caulker Bale
.........Sandro Carroll
Lennon Adebayor Sigurdsson
................Defoe

I would play.

Walker Gallas Dawson Caulker Vertonghen.

-----Naughton Huddlestone Sandro

----------------Bale

----------Ade

But only so, AVB can't throw on any defender he can find late on.

AVB is cautious with a capital C, so we're always going to be set up to counter attack at best. Problem being that we can't hold on to leads.

Some how, some way Vertonghen must play at CB.

I'm going to suggest something radical, play Ade up top, play Defoe on the right and play Azza in the hole in front of Sandro + Dembele (Carroll if injured). Why ? We need GTFS and Defoe is actually pretty good at helping out defensively, Azza played in the hole once away at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup and was sensational, I think the role could suit him more than being stuck on the touch line.

It doesn't matter who plays on the right for Arsenal, Bale is the problem.

Its affecting Vertonghen's form and impact on the team, its not ideal but at least BAE is used to getting no help.

Mr P's got it spot on for me.

Whilst Dempsey and Huddlestone are getting the brunt of our negativity, Walker should not go under the radar as he has been atrocious and there is no sign of it improving - not least in the short term anyhow.

Dembele, Parker, Kaboul and BAE simply cannot come back quick enough!

Ideal would be either :

or this

Not sure who's going to be available injury wise though. Would love to see us with a full strength side, it hasn't happened yet this season
