I think Holtby and Sig will need to put in huge shifts. We know we'll get one from Parker but one man ain't enough. That side would give us a chance IMO.

I agree, but Siggy and Holtby are too inferior to Chelsea equivalent, that I'm afraid we'll get raped. The unfortunate thing is that there are so few viable and fit alternatives to these two..

I agree, if we're chasing the game Hudd is a great player to bring on.

Still, we don't know the reasoning behind Parker's omission yet; may well be an injury and he isn't available for the game... So could be a midfield two of Holtby and Hudd.

As a frequent criticiser of Parker; I hate to concede I would miss him for a game of this magnitude.

If I were guessing...AVB just left him out to keep totally fresh for Wednesday.

FFS! I hate silly posts like this - this is a massive game, can't you take it seriously for once? We've got a whole team of players who don't get credit just because Bale happens to be the best.

A much more realistic and serious team, actually incorporating our best players, would be:

Lloris

Bale - Bale - Bale - Bale
Bale - Bale
Mcevoy - Bale - Bale

Unless they're exhausted I think we could get hammered. Then again, it's spurs so who knows

Nah, its Tottenham...we'll probably play really well after that today - but get unlucky with a shitty decision or fluky goal.

Its just the way the script goes for us.

As you say it is Spurs. Nobody gave us a hope of beating city yet in the last 30 minutes we were unstoppable yet followed that up with a draw at Wigan. Lets just hope the team can be up for this game. We seemed to have raises our level against most of the big teams this season. I would go for Holtby over Hudd in this, give Sig a start and bench Dempsey. Unsure between Ade and Defoe. Probably would go Defoe as he is more likely to score.

The thought of hazard, mata and Oscar running at Hudd......I hope AVB has thought about that potential disaster.

Lloris
Walker Dawson Vertonghen Ekotto
Parker Carroll Holtby
Lennon Adebayor Bale
Subs: Grandpa, Caulker, Naughton, Livermore, Hudd, Ceballos, Defoe
- Lloris. Nuff said.
- Can't really do a lot with the back four. Stuck with it.
- Parker and Holtby bring the energy. I'd give Carroll the go, lets see what he is made of and if he can use possession wisely.
- I think we have to continue with Lennon, because the alternatives are a pair of plodders.
- Adebayor should start, Defoe on bench if/when needed.
- Give Ceballos (or McEvoy etc) the wide forward bench spot. Can't be any worse than the other options.

Would actually really like to see this side in action and I firmly believe Carroll can make a positive impact in the first team - especially with Dembele's absence.

However, on the basis that hell is likely to freeze over before Carroll gets a serious look in at Stamford Bridge, it's simply got to be Mr Pink's team.

None of them play in cm?
IF they all play then 2 of them will be wide, i'd be more worried about them running at Caulker, Daws or Verts (in that order)

Wouldn't mind Hudd starting this game, as long as he has two CM's around him.

Certainly not a game for today's formation...

They do that interchanging thingy......could be reminiscent of a scene from 'Gullivers Travels' watching them run at our defence!

I actually think if both were given the chance to play centrally we would look good and be decent in possession. Assuming Dembele and Lennon are out:

-------------------Lloris------------------
Walker---Dawson---Vertonghen---BAE
------------Parker------Holtby-----------
Bale-----------Sigurdsson------Dempsey
-----------------Adebayor-----------------

Parker is good in these big games, well, at least defencively. Adebayor up front to hold up the ball and bring the others in to it, with Defoe as an impact sub. Carroll / Huddlestone to come on for Parker if we're chasing the game, and despite BAEs mediocrity today, he's still a better option than Naughton. Bale to start on the right so he can run at people but still get shots off, he goes missing a lot of the time when playing the middle.

I agree Hudd would have a mare against Mata/Hazard/Oscar/Moses. I would 100% be lining up with a midfield 3. I think Holtby is essential because he has the energy to be a difference maker in both directions. Everyone else we have seems pretty unbalanced except maybe Carroll who almost certainly won't be used in a game of this magnitude (Hudd, Dembele, Sig - going forward only, Parker - defending only).

Back 4 picks itself and then along with Bale I'd use Ade and pray that he is up for it. I also think Defoe is more useful as a late sub than Ade would be if we swapped them. Then I would go for Lennon if fit. If he isn't I'd use Sig. I really don't rate Dempsey in a 4-2-3-1. The biggest factor is that he gets in Bale's way more than any other player, always occupying the pockets of space Bale likes to utilize. Except he doesn't have the ability to create magic in them. In a 4-3-3 this might not be as bad so the difference between the two options isn't that great.
