I think I'd go with

Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Bentaleb Alli
Dembele Eriksen Chadli
Kane
If Mason was fit enough he'd come in for Alli, and if Lamela had enough in the tank I'd be tempted of bring him in for Eriksen. There's a good case for Carroll over Eriksen too I think.

For what it's worth though, I think Pochettino will do this:

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Bentaleb Dier
Dembele Eriksen Chadli
Kane

Dembele has played exclusively in the front three for Poch in pre-season, and we always play a 4-2-3-1.
Quite, but that doesn't mean total tactical inflexibility.

It was a bug-bear of mine re Pochettino last season and one I hope he's learnt from.

I'm hoping Dembele plays a deeper role and we play more of a tight three man central midfield as otherwise, I fear we could get the run around in the middle of the park if it's Bentaleb and Alli/Mason.

I know what you're saying. Making a double-pivot work is tough at the best of times, but even more so when you've got two under 21s, new to each other's play, and neither particularly a sitter.

On the other hand what is the alternative? Dembele is not really a CM in a 4231 either, and meanwhile who would we play in the front three in his place? And would that not sacrifice some defensive grit in the the front three inviting more pressure on the CM2?

Lastly, Utd may also be playing a scratch CM, possible even with players new to the PL. For me, I like the idea of the risk, and the test. I hope Ali has an eye for the pass and the timing and energy for CM, Bentaleb definitely can be excellent on his day, and if we could get them to forge a partnership this season then that could be exciting.

Apologies if already posted. Poch saying Lloris probably won't be fit enough to play on Saturday:
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...hams-visit-to-manchester-united-10442736.html

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that it is unlikely that Hugo Lloris will be fit to start against Manchester United this weekend.

The French international goalkeeper, who captained the side last season, made a return from a wrist injury for 30 minutes of yesterday’s pre-season friendly against AC Milan. However it was not the most testing of encounters for the Spurs No 1 as Tottenham eased to a 2-0 win.

Whilst Pochettino may have been happy with the goalkeeper’s return from injury he warned that Lloris may not yet be ready for a full Premier League game.

“He played 35 minutes and it was fantastic to see,” Pochettino said. “Maybe in the next weeks he will be OK. It was very positive today to assess him, but maybe he is not ready for 90 minutes. But it’s very important he is ready to come back.”

Lloris has been linked with a move to Old Trafford should David de Gea depart for Real Madrid. However the 28-year-old’s former team-mate Brad Friedel, who retired from playing duties earlier this summer, is convinced that a move to Manchester United is a non-starter for Lloris.
"For me, personally, I don't foresee that transfer even remotely starting up," the 44-year-old told the Daily Express.

"Hugo is a Tottenham player, he is the Tottenham captain and he will be a Tottenham player and I don't see that changing. I don't even think we need to discuss that possibility and I mean that sincerely."

My reviewed team after the friendly games against Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Not my ideal team because we will be missing real pace on the flanks.

(4-2-3-1) Lloris, Trippier, Rose, Alderwiereld, Vertonghen, Bentaleb, Alli, Dembele, Eriksen, Chadli and Kane.

On the basis of Eriksen being pretty lacklustre in pre-season, and thinking Lamela offers more in terms of press and energy.
Eriksen last season was brilliant before he got burnt out, he was probably our best player with kane up to that point

I don't disagree. I think Eriksen will start, and I don't think Lamela has the fitness yet, particularly with 80+ minutes yesterday. However, I do think there's a genuine argument for Lamela/Carroll over him at the moment. I wouldn't want Eriksen to be picked on reputation alone is all I'm saying.

I think he's been poor for a while now, personally. Could be like said, that he was burnt out last season but regardless he needs to recapture that form. There haven't been signs in preseason that he has yet but I still think either we need to get him into games more or he needs to get himself into games more, it's hard to tell which one.

Surely if a keeper is fit enough to play 35mins he is fit, full stop? Is it not more about impact injuries to the wrist rather than fitness?

Also if the case Lloris can't play wouldn't it of been better to play Vorm to give him match practice and some confidence back?

I'd be surprised if Lloris doesn't start. If he was fit enough to play for even half an hour, he's fit enough to play 90 - he's a goalkeeper ffs. He's not facing the same demands and exertions as the outfield players.

If his wrist hadn't recoverd properly he wouldn't of played simple as that.

Maybe his wrist was sore after the game and each shot makes it worse? I don't know. Or could it be Poch playing mind games? ;-)

Lloris

Trippier Toby Jan Rose

Mason Bentaleb

Dembele Lamela Chadli

Kane

Give Alli 20 minutes, I really want to see what he can do. Lamela needs to be central in my opinion, and I like Dembele up the pitch especially away from home so Eriksen misses out for me
