What 'merit. is that exactly? v Swansea they could hardly get a sniff of the ball. Mason in particular coughed up possession and Bentaleb, whilst very neat and tidy with the ball didn't create diddly-squat. We need a ball winner in the middle of the park and that isn't Mason or Bentaleb

Without using one isolated match as an example, i'd argue that these 2 are providing more energy and desire in midfield than the other 3 have shown over the slow, languid past season and a half.

I agree we need a ball winner but our squad simply doesn't possess one. Stambouli is the closest but needs more experience - I did however put him in my team for Wed night.

few reports saying he is back

With Walker back i would like to see a 433, but i dont think he will play 3 games so quick after his injury.

Also would play a striker ;)

I noticed that too late after posting !! ;)

I originally put Kane in but am thinking that Ade might be better now, Harry's covered a lot of ground recently and we need to manage him properly over the season, the same goes for Mason and Bentaleb.

Difficult one to call this, you have to balancer the need for rotation for the weekend with the fact that this is a QF at home to a an in form EPL team. Three games from a possible trophy/European qualification, I can't see Pochettino playing a very weakened side in this. But I'd go something like:

Vorm

Chriches Kaboul Vertonghen Rose

Stambouli Capoue Paulinho

Townsend Soldado Chadli

OR (same players/4231)

Vorm

Chriches Kaboul Vertonghen Rose

Stambouli Capoue

Townsend Paulnho Chadli

Soldado
Prefer option B but with Lennon instead Townsend.

1. selection is not bad at all. If I were Pochettino, I'd read your post and go "Hmmm...:wideyed:"

Strongest lineup.

- This is no different than playing CL on a wednesday with PL the following saturday.
- Need a home win
- It's fucking Burnley on saturday.

That is all.

Thank you, you have been a fantastic audience.

Would love to see this vs Newcastle:

Lloris
Naughton Fazio Vertonghen Davies
Bentaleb
Paulinho Eriksen
Chadli Lamela Kane

Subs: Vorm, Kaboul, Rose, Dembele, Lennon, Townsend, Soldado

And this vs Burnley:

Lloris
Walker Fazio Vertonghen Davies
Stambouli
Mason Eriksen
Lennon Kane Dembele

Subs: Vorm, Chiriches, Bentaleb, Paulinho, Chadli, Lamela, Soldado

Vorm
. Newcastle will likely play a slightly weakened side as they are now doing okay in the league so I think that side should be enough.
So you think that they see themselves ending up in a CL position rather than beating us to reach the semi final in a cup competition more attainable?

I'd go with this but swap Mason for Stambouli, and make him the deepest of the 3 midfielders:

Stambouli
Bentaleb Eriksen

And would probably give Townsend or Lennon a start in place of Lamela.
So to summarise, you would not go for that at all would you?

Well Lloris continualy makes saves that no keeper should be able to make so not having him in goal against an inform Newcastle it just smells disaster.

I wouldn't go that far but I agree there is zero reason to leave out Lloris. Is he exhausted after making a couple of saves against Swansea ? This is to date our most important fixture of the season as far as I am concerned. Way more important than Burnley.
