We need Kane to win the golden boot.
With the U21s coming up, I would rather give him some rest (not rest all of the games) so he doesn't burn out. With every game he plays the more fatigue will be adding up and the less likely he will be to scoring anyway.

Wouldnt mind seeing of Stambo or Capoue in a defensive midfield slot either. Have a couple of youth players on the bench, Winks and Onomah.

With Walker injured and Yedlin with the US we could give KWP a go, especially if we play with a 3 man central midfield which will let him attack a bit more which is a big part of his game. He's probably not completely ready for Prem football consistently but it would be a good experience for him now the pressure of results is off a bit/

With the 3 man central midfield, one can be a bit more of a dedicated holding midfielder. While with Dembele and Mason playing a bit further forward they both have (differing) qualities with the ball that means they could join in a CAM 3 with Eriksen or Lamela depending on what was happening-basically a bit of game management/flexibility.

I've been pushing this team for weeks. Don't expect to see us ever play it though.

Just, another, wasted, opportunity
To, add
To, the, long
List.

That's my team. More 4-2-3-1 to suck the oxygen out of life.

Curiousity (killed the cat)

Kane (Right footer cuts from left centre), Lamela (Left footer cuts from right centre)
Rose, Eriksen (Experimental modric role), Stambouli (hopefully solidifying middle), Yedlin
Davies, Vertonghen, Dier, Walker
Lloris

Subs more likely to use: Bentaleb, Mason, Townsend, Soldado

Others in case: Vorm, Fazio, Dembele

Highly experimental from the norm, yet seemingly safe enough setup to try.

Doubled up for solidity out wide and pacey too.

None of this inverted winger, narrowing play bs. Would stop Kane having to try to take on the world and concentrate on what he does best - finishing, with proper support up front. While the system may well also suit a Soldado type of striker too.

Eriksen might well thrive in the heart.

Dangerous? Should try it and find out.

Seems like round pegs to me.

I bet Sky are regretting showing this game now, its pretty much a nothing game. Newcastle will be fine regardless of the outcome of this game.

In fact there's a boycott being planned, so the atmosphere will be completely shite. Sky should really leave it a bit later when coming to selecting games near the end of the season for coverage.

I'm still on the Christmas tree formation bandwagon - currently only one person on it mind you.

Dier, Fazio, vertonghen, rose
Bentaleb, stambouli, Dembele
Lamela, Chadli
Kane

Would look much better if we had a flyer at right back but we don't... and Eriksen and Mason need a rest.

Do you not think they'll build it up as being absolutely massive in the battle for 6th place?

I can see a massive 10 minute long montage of Spurs and Southampton's seasons, declaring it 'the biggest battle of all!'

And then we'll watch 90 minutes of absolute nonsense with Newcastle probably winning via a mistake by one of our defenders.

Fuck all point, we know what the team will be - broadly speaking anyway.

Oh look, it's basically the team we should've been playing all season! Hi there, nice to meet you!

Lloris

Yedlin Ruddock King Rose

Ginola Modric Carrick Bale

Sheringham Kane

4-4-2

(Ruddock because he's wide enough to cover a third of the goal, and because we lack physicality)

I'd swap Bale and Ginola personally.

This line up is about as likely as the others proposed in here, based on Pochs reluctance to change things around...
