After the Blackburn game I don't think we'll see VDV on the right again anytime soon. He made his point rather well.

Simple, the same team as Blackburn. Why change it unless there are injurys?

Because we got beaten on possession and shots and generally looked absolute shattered against the worst team in the league at present.

You have to heed your warnings.

For me, it's either the 4231 (we all know who goes where) or IOMLS's team which has a good look to it and gives Adebayor and Defoe another chance to form a striking partnership together.

Anyone who looks to include Lennon, despite his insipid performances of late is baffling - I understand the rhetoric of 'giving him games' to bring back the match fitness and hopefuly form/confidence but the simple matter is, we don't need to include him providing the other outfield players are fit with the only possible question marks over Sandro's fitness.

Friedel

Walker---Kaboul---Bassong---Assou-Ekotto

Parker---Sandro

VDV---Modric---Bale

Adebayor

With the fact that Walker bombs up the wing like a right winger I would be happy to see VDV on the right but cutting in and getting involved with Ade & Modric so that we would be deadly through the middle.

Also with Sandro & Parker we would have 2 players who are mindful enough to ensure that we do not all go bombing forward & will cover for Walker etc..

In the first half we were in control, they didnt look like they were going to score and we should have been a couple up. In the second half they were always going to push the game, they had nothing to lose. Plus we won the game, why change the winning team? I also don't see why we would want to play two defensive midfielders at home to a weeker team. the same line up would give us width and pace with two forwards who can score goals.

Who would you play?

I wouldn't say we'd be playing two defensive midfielders. Playing Sandro and Parker, two very dynamic, tough midfielders helps us keep a solid foundation and keeps the ball with our attackers. I don't know about you, but I feel our possesion football has been shit since the first half at Wigan.

In Bale/Lennon, van der vaart, Adebayor, Modric, Walker and Assou-Ekotto we have so much attacking prowess that will not be limited by playing two midfielders that ensure we keep the football.

If Sandro is anything less than 100% fit then he should be on the bench again until he is fully recovered and ready to play with minimal risk of further injury.

Lennon probably doesn't deserve a start, certainly not ahead of Defoe and against QPR we could probably get away with playing VDV more on the right

I wouldn;t be surprised to see Harry go for this

.......Friedel
Walker Kaboul Bassong BAe
VDV Parker Modric Bale
.....Defoe Ade

Edit: although a home game against a newly promoted team would seem like a perfect opportunity to try out a new system and I would like to see us play the team in my sig....although I highly doubt we will see that. Harry will either go with the team I have posted above or stick with the line up that one at Blackburn I suspect.

Gallas could be on the bench for this Sunday, Pienaar as well.

I think Harry will use the Rubin game away to start these two, wouldn't be surprised to see Gallas and Livermore at CB away to Rubin - just a hunch, preserving Kaboul/Bassong for Fulham away until Gallas gets match fit. After the International break would be my bet for Gallas coming back in for League action given he's been out so long.

You never know though he could come back into contention straight away but would doubt it:

Harry has alluded to taking out a young team to Russia so if Gallas is fit then i'd imagine he will play a behind closed doors game here with a view to starting next to Kaboul at the weekend which would leave Bassong and Livermore to start in Russia.

It will be a welcome and timely boost regardless and i'd imagine Dawson isn't too far away either so hopefully come the Villa game after the international break we could have a full compliment of centre backs (Ledley included).

Same team as Blackburn for me, QPR will try and play and that will benefit us. I wouldn't be against 'resting' Bale, but I'd personally still start him. Lennon needs games; whilst I was against him starting against Blackburn, now that he has I'd like to see him get a good run.

They've already played a behind closed doors game on Monday against West Ham and Gallas didn't feature.

This would be next week instead of playing in Russia.

Maybe i've got my wires crossed here as i'm more than assuming Gallas won't feature for us this weekend and looking towards the following weeks match agianst Fulham away before we break up for the international break.

All things considered, if we get our full quota back after the internation break i'd like to think we will set up with King and Kaboul in the league with Gallas and Bassong deputising in Europe - not to mention Corluka coming back in the mix so defensively we will be looking very strong indeed.

We are playing QPR at home. For this reason I'd rest VDV & Parker.
