I expect the starting lineup on Sunday to look like this

Fridel
Walker Caulker Vertonghen Assou-Ekotto
Sandro Dembele Livermore
Lennon Adebayor Bale

However I would like to see AVB try to impose his style on us right now and play:
Lloris
Naughton Caulker Vertonghen Assou-Ekotto
Sandro (Parker if fit)
Sigurdsson Dembele
Dempsey Adebayor Bale

I also think it is important we get Gallas out the starting lineup as he looks a shadow of the player he once was.

Yeah, I'd love to see the 2nd team in your post given a go. While Lennon has been one of our better performers this season, playing Dempsey on the right gives us much more of a goal-threat and allows us to bring on Lennon's pace to (hopefully) devastating effect late on. I'd also like to see Caulker given a game to see how he does. Gallas has been a liability so far and, although he's experienced, he hardly strikes me as a role model or a leader on the pitch.

Considering we have got options at CB with Dawson and in particular Caulker, there is little excuse to keep on persisting in Gallas at the moment.

That being said, if Lloris does indeed start for us then to have a French speaking counterpart in central defence (in the absence of Kaboul) might prove beneficial in the short term.

For what it's worth, my team for Sunday would be;

Lloris
Walker Caulker Vertonghen BAE
Sigurdsson Sandro Dembele
Dempsey Adebayor Bale

I really really really hope that AVB plays Sandro the holding role and drops Livermore. IMO Sandro is at his best when he's prowling the area in front of our back 4. His passing is okay and he's good for the occasional burst forward, but Dembele is much better suited to the 'box to box', more creative central role. Ideally with Dembele playing in the 'Modric' positon and offering more creativity and better ball retention, Sigurdsson in turn will give better performances as the furthest forward of a central 3 and get a few more shots off. Plop Dempsey on the right and use Lennon as an impact sub. Pop. Bang. Lovely. Goals all over the shop for Tottingham.

I hope it ends up being as simple as you make it sound.

You are going to waste Dembele if you play him in a midfield 2. A midfield 3 allows him more license to get forward.

as long as defoe isn't up top on his own again then we should be ok, i do have a nagging suspicion that avb might pick jake over sandro though if it comes down to either/or ...

It's a real shame that we've just had an international break, meaning AVB has had very little time with the players over the last two weeks, at a time when more than ever he could do with it. A tough away fixture this (Reading have nothing to lose and will know they are playing a side under greater pressure than most right now), a team still coming to terms with losing two match winners, new faces to fit into the process, off the back off losing two wins in the last minutes of games, and all played out in front of the cameras for all and sundry to pick the bones over and the coach has had about 3 days to prepare.

But lack of time is not a legitimate excuse. We have a strong enough squad, as is, to beat Reading everyday. We might not be playing to our full potential but i expect a 70% Spurs side to kill a newly promoted team. Otherwise I dont know why we invest in the players we have.

All valid points that could all influence the game. I just hope our boys go into the game WANTING the win rather than expecting the win. Reading aren't going to be a walk over.

however...we've got 16 Dempseys'!!!

We've only lost one 'match winner' but I get your point. I'm nervous, but it's my first game of the season and I'm looking forward to going and singing some pro-Tottenham songs.

it's sad that it would never happen as it's a very balanced 3 forward attacking formation. defoe hardly ever plays wing forward, have they tried coaching him or does he have a problem being coached for this role? strange.
