I just can't see Poch benching Ade in the PL any time soon, only way I see Soldado starting in the league is if Ade gets injured. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling I'm not.

Such a shame we didn't play a lot better against West Brom. Had we won that, 11 points from 18 would of been a decent start to the season. Anyway, providing we see some progression from here on in things should start to improve soon enough.

The NLD result will give us confidence no doubt. After losing so meekly to Liverpool this sort of result, and performance IMO, should really give us a shot of collective confidence.

Southampton are in good in form and must be very confident at the moment. In a way I think that's a good thing for us. The last thing we need this Sunday is a team coming to park the bus. I think Southampton will try and take the game to us as much as they can so hopefully we'll get a bit more space to to get at them.

They're very good in midfield with Wanyama and MS, so it will be a tough game. Tadic looks a real player and their new CF is doing the business to.

Poch obviously knows some of the players, strengths and weaknesses, so that's a plus. They'll be motivated to beat us alright but Poch likewise.

All about applying the intensity we've showed in brief patches before ie against QPR from the off. Start like that and I don't see any reason why we can't win the game.

Start slowly, looking lackadaisical and I'd fear the worst again.

Hugely important Poch sends them out ready to start the game with plenty of aggression and intensity.

I think we're going to have to be actually patient this year. I expected, and I think most reasonable people on here did too, that there were always going to be a few bad performances.

Power for the course. Poch has a system that is although quite simple on paper, relies heavily on all the players understanding not only their own roles, but those of their team-mates. The complexity comes with how those roles change throughout the game depending on the position of the ball, opposition, the manner of attack. It will take a while to see the fruits of the system but it's promising at least that we can see in flashes signs of what we can expect if EVERYONE - players and Levy in particular stick with Poch and let the philosophy bed in properly.

I fully expect to be looking back at fixtures like the West Brom game and thinking, "surely we should have picked those 3 points up there, and then we'd be in 4th/3rd place etc etc", but equally, we'll do well in games that we maybe don't expect. I thought it was a no brainer that we'd lose to Arsenal, but we didn't. The players did well, there was a game plan that worked and was applied well across most of the team.

We'll have a transistional season most likely, but we've got a cup in us this year I think. I'm excited for Spurs again. The NLD restored a little faith in me.

Patience for sure.

I wouldn't wright anything off for this season though, just not expecting too much. But still hopeful of course.

I think sooner or later, Soldado will show up in the league and Ade will struggle to dislodge him. Also there's no reason why Soldado can't force himself into the team if he starts to show what he has to offer when he plays in the cups.

If you're gonna stick chadli up front (which I'm not totally against), better to have another clever player behind him instead of lennon...

Lloris
Naughton Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Capoue Mason
Lamela Eriksen Soldado
Chadli

I quite like that actually...actually, I really like it.
I'm not sure Chadli will be as effective as the striker. He is getting goals at the moment as he is moving into that position from deeper at the right times. Chadli also has bettter pace an dribbling skills than Soldado, so better at attacking from deep, where as Soldado links play better and in the middle he has more players to link with.

Personally, I just want to see Soldado as a striker playing with Lamela, Eriksen and Chadli behind him and I can't understand why we haven't seen this once in over a year.

Yeah it is but you then when on to say that you'd like to see the same team for both games... surely meaning dropping Kaboul for the Southampton game as well.
Bar that change. Anyway, my point was that we need consistency.

For Saints game id have same lineup as vs Arsenal except Soldado for Ade. Hopefully we have the makings of a settled back 4 for league games now, at least until maybe Walker is fully fit, although Naughton hasnt put a foot wrong really.
