FML, Romero being out as well as VDV truly has screwed us for these three games. Not sure we pick up a single point from them now. Unless Phillips really is different gravy then I doubt Ange is willing to sacrifice him like that so Dier and Davies it is.

FML.

And sign two f'ing CBs the next time we need two f'ing CBs please DL and the high ups, ta.
Shouldn't that now be "CB'S please SM" :)

Lo Celso

As much as we all want him to, Bentancur can't start yet. It's too much of a risk and he isn't ready. In another 4-5 games time he will hopefully be ready to start.

Don’t get peeps lumping Ben in with Eric - he was our best player at Wolves imho.

Ange, Eric and PEH were responsible for the complete lack of adjustment even awareness of Sarabia when he came on.

Yes we were shite for much of the game but were on course to rob them till that happened

Give young Phillips a go, and Gio. Hope Bents ain’t called up by Uruguay

Absolutely agree. Bentancur has to start with the absence of Bissouma, and that defence has pace in 3 out of 4 players. I still trust Davies more than Dier as well.

No Udogie ?

If you want no Dier and no Davies then it would have to be Emerson and Phillips at CB . I actually thought Davies was fine today.
Davies was excellent, given his limitations (lack of pace when playing a high line) and made one really good potentially goal saving tackle.

I suspect it will be as simple as
Porro Dier Davies Udogie in defence
Højbjerg for Bissouma
Sarr (automatic starter) and either Skipp or GLC
The front 3 picks itself: Decki Son Johnson

I’d like to see GLC starting
I suspect Bentancur is not ready yet to start but with the international break maybe he will be

presumably our bench will include Gil and Skipp and Phillips as backup with only Gil and Bentancur really being “game changers” if we are behind.

We have to accept more draws and losses with our significant injury and suspension list.

One clip I watched Bentancur was shattered and couldn't get forward a few yards. Well away from starting.

Isn't it safer to wait and see who comes back fit from the internationals before trying to choose a team to line up against Villa

Yes you could almost guarantee we get more injuries over the internationals. It would just be our luck, hate being pessimistic but we aren't allowed nice things.

Bentancur (who isnt up to speed yet) and Lo Celso (who doesnt appear to have full trust) aren't both starting.

No way.

I'd like to see the line-up below, but doubt we will.
Those bold and underlined are guaranteed to start (international break injuries notwithstanding)

Vicario
Porro
Philips Davies Udogie
Bentancur
Sarr Donley
Kulu Son Johnson

subs: Forster, Royal, Dier, Dorrington, Skipp, Gil, Hojbjerg, Veliz, Lo Celso

In defence: Davies and Dier likely again, but we need to have the missing athleticism back, so hopefully Philips ahead of Dier. Otherwise, Royal please

In midfield: Would be massive if Bentancur is fit to start at DM, with Bissouma suspended.
Lo Celso has shown himself time after time to be unreliable and moody. He has such a poor first touch for a notionally creative player. We absolutely need a play-maker in there, so it would great to see Ange throw caution to the wind and start Donley in the Madders role.

Where did you get the poor first touch bit from? he played well when he came on and deserves a chance. He worked tirelessly when he came and made some incredible tackles also so dunno where you got the moody part from. He deserves a chance, he is very talented.
