What's the reason for us playing so late on a Saturday?

We also played 3 at the back this season against Watford, we were shit.

https://www.football-lineups.com/lineup/634268/

Also Liverpool had 61% possession that day and we countered them, we had a clear game plan against them, Wolves average 48% possesion which is 12 highest in the league.

We also had a fit Kane who bullied Liverpool's 2 CB's

Things have changed since last season, we should go with what we are comfortable with this season and that's 4 at the back.

Less possession means very little, we created countless chances and 4-1 flattered Liverpool, my point is that we can play three at the back with the right personnel, and that 4 at the back with no career DM to screen them is a risk against a side as fluid as wolves.

we also had Lovren up front with Kane that day

Lovren was made to look bad. He isn’t a bad player.

we scored two early in quick succession which meant we sat back thereafter, not sure what home game last season against Liverpool has to do with Wolves away this

The point being that against a far sterner test than that with which we are presented tomorrow we put on one of our best performances of the past decade with those personnel in that formation.

What's the reason for us playing so late on a Saturday?

My choice of team would be.....

------------------Hugo-------------------
Aurier---Sanchez--Toby---Davies
------------Winks---Dembele---------
----Moura------Lamela-----Son-----
-------------------Kane--------------------

For me it has a good balance. Up until west ham son had been terrible but we all know what he is like when he goes on a run.
Bring eriksen, alli and sissoko on second half.
Very tough match.

Think Eriksen needs a rest, as does Rose.

Lloris
Walker Toby Sanchez Sissoko
Dembele Winks
Eriksen Kane Son
Moura

What's the reason for us playing so late on a Saturday?

Basically a trick Sky and the PL are using, happened to a couple of other games too. They initially scheduled it for 1.30PM on Sunday, which is a good but not great TV slot especially with us because we get more views in the US than the far east. But they knew there was a 50/50 chance we'd be playing the Champions League on Tuesday, and once that was drawn, our game with Wolves had to be moved. Monday is obviously impossible, as is Friday as they knew at least one of us was very likely to play the League Cup on the Wednesday before, so it has to be Saturday - but oh no, the early and late slots are both taken already! So it goes into the only available space of Saturday Night even though that isn't an approved slot for this season.

OK mate. Watch those first two goals again some day. Barca and PSV made Hugo look silly recently I suppose.

I do agree it's usually about the dynamic- not just what we do but what the opposition does as well. Which led me to wonder about your comparison. Wolves present a very different challenge not necessarily harder or easier, just different.

I reckon it'll be Dembele and Winks at CM

I would then play Winks and Foyth for PSV

Sissoko as sub in both games in 2nd half unless we are chasing the game

Foyth isn't allowed to play in the CL he isn't in our squad, reason in my post above

I would say it was a good reason, but it's been this way for some time. we are also in the same slot next month away to Leicester

Exact same shenanigans there I believe - boxing it in between a Wednesday and Tuesday midweek to force a move to Saturday. The Sat Night games are meant to be happening but not till next season.

Traore plays on the right, but that's not much better I agree

True he does play on the right BUT id sit on Trippier if I was Traore, he can run past him even with one leg... take a fair few touches to get it on his better foot etc...

The guy is damn quick

Right players in the midfield and attack but I reckon chuck Lamela on the right, Lucas on the left, and dele into the middle or on the left edge of a midfield 3 with winks at the base. Winks showed that he was more than capable of playing that role against city, whilst still progressing the ball forward. Give him the responsibility to take control of that midfield. Adds so much creativity and ability. If rose is fit, then he starts at LB, with aurier at RB.
Although I didn't say it, but in my team Lucas, Lamela and Dele would be inter changeable, making it harder for wolves. But yes I agree with your views

How can you be amazed? A lot of people here clearly have an irrational dislike for Lamela, and not too long ago they were claiming he should have an impact sub role at best.

I do think, however, that if all five of Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lucas and Lamela are available, that non of them should be expecting to start all matches from now on. They all bring something different and important to the table, and Pochetino will have to use them accordingly.
