Here we go! :)

Friedel

Walker - Kaboul - King - BAE

VDV - Parker - Modric - Bale

Defoe - Ade

Subs: Cudicini, Bassong, Corluka, Sandro, Lennon, Gio, Pav.

Okay, I know there's been a LOT of talk recently of a 4-2-3-1 with both Parker and Sandro sitting deeper. I myself even agreed for the Wigan game that that was the way forward for us, but I think it could send out the wrong message this weekend against Arsenal. If they were still the dominant team they were 6/7 years ago we'd happily have used that formation to try and scrape a 1-1 draw againbst them, however, like sitting ducks they're there for the taking.

The movement from Adebayor, Bale and Modric in the last 3 games has been quality, add to that the tenacity of Parker and VDV and the pace of Defoe, and I think we have the best midfield/attacking 6 we've had in a North London Derby in the last 20 years. What makes this an even more excitable prospect is the absolute shambles that their defence has been away from home this season, even managing to ship 4 goals at Blackburn. Yes... Blackburn!

It's a winning formula. Bring on Sandro for 30/20 minutes if we have a cushion and ride it out. 3 points here we come!

Seems noone is worried that Gervinho, who has looked really good so far, might make Walker look a little silly?

We need to be aggressive against this very poor Arsenal, i have no clue why everyone is clamouring for this Parker/Sandro midfield and taking Modric out of where hes been super phenomenal and our best player by far for 2 seasons, really illogical imo.

We'll be kicking ourselves if we fail to win and we played 2 negative midfielders, when we have a chance to thump Arsenal and make a statement at home

Why might Gervinho who has looked average make Walker look silly? Nobody has really made him look silly yet. It was BAE who looked the silly one against Wigan.

Gervinho hasn't looked average, really sharp imo and dangerous, this is going to be a big test for Walker defensively and he looked a little bit silly a few times defensively whilst on loan at Aston Villa.

He's looked fine to me this season. I don't understand this whole fear factor with him. Charlie is far more likely to be on the end of a skinning.

If he goes 4-4-2 he could use Lennon but would have to drop Sandro or Parker (so most definitely Sandro) and play Adebayor with Defoe or the 4-4-1-1 we are more used to with van der Vaart off the big man. I'd go with what is above though, it's more defensively sound with a load of attacking options still. It's argued we play our best football with a more conventional 4-4-2 though, with evidence to back it up too.

Although against Wigan we seemed to revert to a midfield of:

van der Vaart____Modric_____Sandro__________Bale

Really tough call between Parker/Sandro, with parker picked on current form. Dont think we should play both, got to play 2 up front and go fro the win. If we were to go 2 up then bring defoe off and sandro on to bolster mid-field - all grand in theory.
No room for pav on bench and when we get more players back there are going to be players disappointed not to make the bench, never mind the first team, what a grear complaint.

If we do go 4-4-2 it means either one of Sandro or Parker gets dropped and it's a straight pick between Lennon and Defoe. If Lennon plays, Rafa gets to play in his best position but if Defoe plays he'll be stuck out wide, so if it comes to that I'd rather Lennon tbh. I still think we should line up as I have it in my formation.

Most of the team picks itself. But for me Corluka ahead of Walker, Defoe instead of Sandro. must get at them from the first minute - it's our patch, you'll play by our rules

We are at home to our biggest rival. VDV won't last an hour and would last even less if played in the hole. Defoe is on a run of goal scoring that has not been in evidence for ages....keep him going imo. Sandro looked slightly awkward against Wigan playing slightly in front of Parker, who absolutely demands the central spot and dove-tails well with Modric. Modric who benefits most by having Parker alongside him. Lennon / Sandro if and when necessary

Not from what I've seen so far this season. He struggled against Moses against Wigan.

I think it's strange that he so often let's players past him and then it looks like he's struggling to catch up even with his pace.

He's got a lot to learn defensively.

It's not really that strange. He defends like a centre back playing on the right, I guess because he was taught to defend as a centre back. He gets too square on and plants his feet and then they are past him. He has to work on defending as a full back but I'm sure it will come especially if he is training against maybe the fastest left sided player in the league.
