as has been said several times, Aurier or Doherty is the only question for me

would prefer Aurier but having just played the full 90 and recently returning from injury it seems JMo planned on Doherty for this one

If Aurier needs a rest, I’d rather play Tanganga over Doherty .

In what alternate universe does one include Doherty in "our best team at the moment"? You are having a larf mate!

Aurier and Sanchez have been a source of all sorts of instability in the defence over the last few years. Sanchez has to play so I think it's marginally preferable to have Doherty next to him who is more consistent than Serge.

Aurier's been our best RB and has been very consistent for ages now.

Arteta hinted at starting PEA on the left wing, him and Tierney would run circles around Doherty. Even at Wolves he wasn't a good defender, just amazing in attack. Aurier has to start.

I am happy with any of Moura, Lamela or Dele to take the 10 role for this game. I err on the side of Lamela to start.

This game is made for Dele Alli. If they click that is a formidable front 4. For me Dele he has to start...

Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Reguilon; Hojbjerg,Ndombele; Bale, Dele, Son; Kane

There's no way I'd pick Dele over Lucas or Lamela for this. He hasn't shown anything to suggest he'd provide more than them IMO.

Everyones worrying about him starting Doherty over Aurier but should we be more worried about Dier playing? Mans a calamity waiting to happen in these types of games.

True. But form is temporary, class is permanent. Need to get the old Dele back asap. It’s still in there. He’s done it before (especially against them!) on many occasions. Dele is on another level to Lucas or Lamela. This is the perfect game for him to show it. I’d stick him in. Lucas and Lamela on the bench.

100% – hence why Mourinho rested Toby midweek to ensure his fitness this fixture. Certainly we'll be seeing a Sanchez-Toby partnership.

There won’t even be a debate in Jose’s head about Lucas or Lamela or Dele.

After the way he’s played in league games recently, it’ll be Moura beyond a doubt.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it will be Sancehz-Toby but Sanchez has played alot of games in a row now. Just hoping he wasn't using Thursday to get the rust off Dier so Sanchez can rest on Sunday ?

I wouldn't choose this to be the game to just simply hope it comes back though. The old Dele hasn't been seen for what, 2 years now? At the moment Lucas and Lamela are playing a level above Dele so you have to go on that really I think.

I think Dier was used on Thursday to allow Toby some rest before the NLD. I doubt it was anything to do with Sanchez.

Aurier needs to start over Doherty
Lucas should start over Lamela. Lamela first sub, he is good in that role.

The rest picks itself
I love me some Lamela off the bench in the 70th minute, he seems to give our entire team a second wind in terms of defending and tenacity. I love that he is a guarenteed yellow card within 5 minutes of coming on for a needless slide tackle on the LB around the center circle lol. Also has very sharp elbows so he has that going for him.

On a separate note Lucas has 2 start. He has earned this spot and it's his to lose if he can't keep up this form. Bale, son kane in front and Hoj/Ndomballer behind, Reg, Toby, Sanchez, Aurier.

I hope we take it too them and I hope that Lucas hits Partey with the razzle dazzle. Got a feeling this match is going to pop off physically and I am expecting a red from someone tomorrow (just hope not on us)

Aurier was terrible last season. Most wanted him sold, hes been better hes only had to play 1 game a week most weeks now he has Doherty spotting him minutes. Aurier mentally fragile and when he gets mentally fatigued he makes mistakes, see when he played vs Leicester after playing 3 games in 7 days.

Well this will be Auriers 2nd game in 2 weeks so I'm sure his mental fragility will be fine.

This guy literally played on the day when his brother got killed, mentally fragile isn't the word you're looking for.
