True. But form is temporary, class is permanent. Need to get the old Dele back asap. It’s still in there. He’s done it before (especially against them!) on many occasions. Dele is on another level to Lucas or Lamela. This is the perfect game for him to show it. I’d stick him in. Lucas and Lamela on the bench.
This phrase has to be one of the bigger myths in the sport.

What do you call making so many mental errors in games?

Lack of concentration/frustration - not mentally weak.

The incident against Leicester when he gave them a pen for example wasn't down to being mentally weak, it was just poor focus and I think he was frustrated, he lacks consistency but he's having his most consistent season at Spurs regardless.

There should never be an argument about playing Doherty over Aurier in a match like this.

Literally every single player on the planet makes errors. Nowadays Aurier doesn't make many but it's so magnified because he'll never lose that tag after he made quite a few mistakes in his first couple of seasons here. Plus even if he does make errors, the good stuff usually more than compensates. Technically he is one of the best FBs around imo, he's so underrated in that respect and slightly overrated in his physical capabilities.

People just tend to focus on Aurier more for some reason.

Worth noting that last season he was hung out to dry a bit with Jose's lopsided tactics at the back, he was told to push forward which left space behind him. This season we've definitely missed him when he's not in the team which tells you how important he is.

No he is not. Face it, Dele in his early years with us, was being supplied by Dembele, Eriksen and the likes, so had the freedom to express himself with his flicks and tricks. The problem now is that he is no longer an unknown factor and most defence have worked him out so he is no longer that effect. In order for him to regain the fragile reputation of being one of Spurs and England's best, he will have to up his game big time, but some how I doubt he will.

I just don’t agree with that at all. I think the single most obvious (doesnt necessarily mean it will pla out, mind...) area to exploit is their DM, where they seem to keep making mistakes

Moura’s pace and pressing would seem perfect for that.

And Dele’s improving but the permanent ’class’ referred to hasn’t been there for about three season IMO

Need a backup keeper. 3 or 4 defenders on the bench is overkill. Winks & Hart on there for Dier & Davies.

Well, I am hoping Lucas starts this one as I think he is just better at the moment than Lamela. Lamela needs to be the spark off the bench when defenders legs get heavy.

I think everyone is agreed on our best XI right now, with the exception of CAM. Moura vs Dele vs Lamela (not forgetting Gio when he’s fit).

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez Toby Reggy
Højbjerg NdomPele
Bale ??? Son
Kane

I’d start Moura today as I think he’ll cause Arsenal more problems and is in good form. Lamela has been excellent recently, but I’d use him as a super sub when he is always first class, bringing an injection of intensity and aggression into a game for the last 20 mins. I do have a feeling that Jose might rest Aurier after playing on Thursday as he’s only just returned from a calf injury, but hopefully he can manage another 90 mins.
