Anyone who thinks we should play Son & Lamela instead of Mason clearly haven't been paying attention this season. Would be madness. We need the solidity of Dier, Mason and Dembele (and Mason was excellent until injury, unbelievable some still don't rate him, truly mind boggling) - Eriksen playing as part of that midfield trio would leave us exposed against a very good, if in poor form, Chelsea attack.

It would also mean we would not have to change our style as Mason and Alli do a similar job (though they have different strengths and weaknesses).

this will suit Dembele as Chelsea will have to go for the throat in all their remaining games to get a top4 finish, though he had a great game v Battered Spam especially the minute we got the 1st goal, against a team that had 11 players behind the ball

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Eriksen Son
Kane

Bench: Vorm - Trippier - Wimmer - Mason - Onamah - Townsend - N'Jie

I've got a feeling Chelsea are going to sit very very deep with two DMs in front. It should be the same team as against West Ham but bring in Lamela for Alli. We have to counter the threat of Hazard and Willian ASAP.

Terry coming off injured for the Chavs tonight. Hope he makes Sunday, was looking forward to Kane running him ragged again.

was thinking the same thing, though in the final last year they put zouma in DM with Matic which nullified our attack. Can see him doing something similar again.

They did, but we've kicked on hugely since then.

yeah during that game kane was left extremely isolated where as this season we are seeing the forwards and midfielders get closer to him, so if maureen goes uber defensive i think we have enough now about us to break them down.

Exactly. And with Dembele's power and the fact he's releasing the ball quicker combined with Lamela, Eriksen and Son...we should have enough to zip the ball around them.

I am worried about this match. Mourinho is probably the best manager in the world at devising tactical plans to outwit the opposition and I have no doubt Chelsea will be more than ready for us. Hopefully we can get an early goal so they have to open up. If they score first then i'm sure the big blue bus will be parked up for the rest of the match.

This. He's a bloody master at beating form teams, and revelling in his anti-football at the same time. Poch needs to be on it and make precautionary subs to prevent a red if required.

Guarantee he drops Costa for Sunday...he'll play a false 9 and swamp the midfield.

Huge potential banana skin this one. I have a feeling Chelsea will raise their game for this and it will be really tough to win...

Makes me laugh that we see Chelsea as a possible banana skin now :ROFLMAO:

They beat Tel Aviv 4-0 but it was not a convincing performance at all. They were playing against 10 for most of the game and it didn't look like it a lot of the time. Three of the goals were from set-peices.

Costa is really poor at the moment, his performance tonight reminded me of Adebayor at the start of last season, he just couldn't be bothered to do anything at all. Didn't make any runs walking about the box, didn't look for any spaces. Hope he starts against us as Remy would be a big upgrade at the moment.

Team picks itself imo:

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Son Eriksen
Kane

Yes the Chavs have good players and Mourinho but I have watched a good bit of them this season and they have been terrible, I mean like really bad, it's not been anything to do with being unlucky. Their defence and confidence are in tatters, if we go out and press like we did against West Ham and get an early goal I think we could control this game, but we will need to concentrate.

Back five as normal, Dier and Mason with Dembele pushed forward. Difficult I have is Lamela or Son..... Unlike some others I thought Son had a great game again West Ham, but Lamela has been good all season.
