1 goal in 5 games doesn't sound great. But add in the 2 assists (memory isn't what it used to be) and then also what he adds to our team off the ball with movement, attitude, and teh way he has been spreading the ball from the hole, and his contribution then starts to take shape.
Strikiers aren't only about goals (ask Emile), its what they add to the team - and Keane adds a lot to this team, even if not obviously visible.[/quote]

Your spot on there, What Keane adds to us is definitely not obviously visible cos I keep missing it week in week out

On the other hand Crouch holds the ball up, lays the ball off to his team mates well and flicks balls on and has a great understanding with Defoe

Call me old fashioned but Keano's touch has been ordinary for a good while, his passing has been ordinary for a good while and his goal scoring record has been less than ordinary for a good while

I think the teams that do well against Chelsea play 3 in midfield, and reduce the space available to their midfield. So I would play all our 3 midfield players !!!!

Alternatively Keano dropping deep would act like a 5 when we don't have the ball pressing from the front and a link man when we do have the ball

we'd get merked in a regular 451 against the chavs, spend the whole game in our have and our sole striker could bring a deck chair and afew beers as he'd pretty much be watching the whole match

Gomes
Corky King Bassong Benny
Lennon Jenas Wilson Bale
Defoe Keane

Spurs to win 1 - 2 King with a header in the 64th minute and Bale to score the winner with a free kick in the 4th minute of injury time. Chelsea will go 1 - 0 up in the 42nd minute with a lampard pen. That's what just happened when I played the game on pro evo anyway :)

i would say the team picks itself:

------------Gomes
corluka---King---Bassong--Ekotto

Lennon---Jenas--Palacios--Kranjcar

-------------Keane

-------------Defoe

but who knows what harry will do

It does indeed pick itself

God I hope we win. I keep hearing how long it is since we beat them at the Bridge. Nobody seems to agree that the longer the losing streak lasts, the closer that victory is. Hell, even a complete fluke or freak disaster for Chelsea will pop out eventually. Game's ours, kids.

You spelt Hudd wrong, by the way

I'm not so sure JJ will walk into that team ahead of Thud. Yeah, he was pretty anon during the Man U game but that was because they shut him out. He was playing a fair way up the pitch, he's not the quickest lad, so they marked him close and closed him down at every step. There's no denying, when he's given a few feet of space Thud's passing is fantastic, i just think that against the bigger teams he needs to drop back a few feet, leave the Sarge to clean up in front of him and keep himself free to move the ball around.

I also think that Sarge and Thud have started building a pretty good understanding, even after just a few games it was obvious they were enjoying each others company, so perhaps nurture that combination and keep JJ ready to step in when necessary.

As you say, who knows...

lol no i spelt Jermaine Jenas correctly. With Huddlestones supernatural lack of mobilty and suprising lack of strength it would be suicide to play him against lampard, essien and ballack. they would have a field day.

Jenas might not have the vision or passing of huddlestone, but he knows how to defend, how to track players, and how to make life difficult for players trying to get passed him, and he can do it for 90+ minutes not 60

A point tomorrow would be excellent -

Decesions for 'Arry -

Gomes or Cudicini
Jenas or Huddlestone
Keane or Crouch

I want Gomes and Jenas to get the nod but cannot decide between Keano or Crouchy.

Personally I reckon Keane and Defoe have worked best this season so far. With Crouch we tend to hoof it too much, however if Crouch is to play I would like to see Bentley on the right and Lennon on the left. JJ will most likely start along with Wilson, hope Gio gets a place on the bench. I'd take a point now, COYS.

this should be the team for chelsea although playing crouch instead of keano and asking defoe to play deeper would help out immensely at corners/ set plays, as long as they kept the ball on the floor much more and kept it ALOT better than against manure.

keep the ball guys, it's not hard, for this squad.

*special attention to hudd floating in the inside left mid area, jenas as the pacy attacking Rb, with corluka holding the midfield together, protecting the right side of the pitch and making some surges forward.

You'd think Juande Ramos was too busy settling in at CSKA to post on a spurs forum. You want to play Jenas at RB, Corluka in the middle and THudd on the left! Eek

----------Gomes----------

Corluka---King-----Bassong----Ekotto

Lennon---Huddlestone---Palacios--Jenas

-----------------------Keane-----------

------Defoe------------------------------

I don't think we can trust Krancjar to do a good defensive job on the left, so I would put Jenas there and tell him to be a pro and put in a solid 90 minutes, the three men in the middle will compete with Chelsea and give Lennon and Keane more freedom to support Defoe and threaten Chelsea on the break.

So when attacking we are looking at

Hudd-------Palacios--------Jenas

Lennon----------------Keane-----

------------Defoe-------------------

I would go with Jenas in midfield because although I like Huddlestone as a player,I don't really think he is good enough to play against the top 4/5 teams in the league.

Gomes
Corluka Woodgate King Ekotto
Lennon Jenas Palacios Kranjcar
Defoe Crouch

Bench: Gomes Naughton Huddlestone Bale Giovani Keane Pavlyuchenko

I know that Bale and Giovani's places on the bench are much more likely to be taken by Bentley and Hutton, but Hutton for me has not place at our club and Bentley, much as I would like him to turn his Spurs career around, is not as deserving as Giovani right now.

I'd keep Hudd and start with Defo and Keane up front. With no pre season it's asking a lot for Jenas to start tomorrow and Hudd hasn't done much wrong. Keane can drop back to make a 5 man midfield when we haven't got the ball so we don't get out numbered like we did against united.
