We improved today, let's carry that momentum into the next game and hopefully win, gain in confidence and continue that into the Stoke game this weekend. Big week ahead.

We do have a player who can play left wing back in GKN but he doesn't get a look in. Look at Chelsea yesterday, Pedro was playing left wing back. As long as you have 3 solid centre backs and a defensive midfielder then you can pretty much play wingers as the wingbacks.

When has GKN ever played as a LWB in his entire career, genuine question?

I'd save Winks and Wanyama for Sunday against Stoke. Thought they looked great today, perfect balance between power and finesse.

Dembele and Dier were great last season, and I'd like to see them on Thursday night as a pairing again. On the big pitch at Wembley I think Dembele will benefit from having more space to surge forward with. Not keen on seeing Dier at CB anytime soon again, think he's better in midfield.

Lloris

Trips
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Davies

Dier
Dembele

Eriksen
Alli
Son

Kane

Get the game won and take off the likes of Kane, Eriksen etc.

For Sunday I'd bring back in a fresh Walker, Winks and Wanyama.
Considering if they score we need 3, think this is optimistic.

He's a left winger and can be deployed as a left wing back ala Pedro, Moses... neither of those have prior to this season played as a wing back yet Chelsea are walking the league.

Gent drew 1 all with Standard Liege today by the way. Played 8/9 of the same players who started against us. So not really resting anyone ahead of Thursday.

https://www.dolce-sport.ro/fotbal/fotbal-international/standard-liege-gent-scor-in.html

Technically they are, because they rested a few players in the first leg. So I suspect they now think they can beat us over two legs and suddenly gonna play their full team hence playing the same team

We fucked up against the reserves dude. We could not beat a team full of players who aren't good enough for their team

PS I could be wrong but did read they had played reserves against us

Just seen United are playing their europa game on Wednesday night? Wtf....I know they have the cc final on Sunday, but I don't ever recall us playing a europa game on Wednesday night...
I seem to remember us having to play a Europa match on the Thursday before our final v Chelsea in 2015.
The official reason is that Lyon are at home on Thursday night so St Etienne can't play at home the same night (though my French friend says they're not that close!)

Since we went 4231 against Fulham, and Rose aren't likely to be back. I think we'll keep the current formation.

1 Lloris (c)

16 Trippier - 4 Alderweireld - 5 Vertonghen - 33 Davies

19 Dembele - 15 Dier

48 Edwards - 20 Dele - 23 Eriksen

10 Kane

subs.
Vorm, Walker, Wimmer, Wanyama, Winks, Sissoko, Son

So when has he played as a LWB before? Or are you guessing he can on the basis of another player being able to play that after a succession of matches and under a different manager?

Also he's a right footed winger as well so I don't understand why you'd think he'll be able to play as a LWB.

I would be tempted to go with the three at the back for Wembley even without Rose, if he's still out.

We've looked so poor on that massive pitch every time this season, I'd just like the wing backs to give us more width and just keep playing the diagonal balls. Let's use all of the pitch.

I liked when we played 3 at the back with wing backs and can only think Poch doesn't believe we can play that formation without Danny Rose on the left. But can we keep Trippier in at RWB and play Walker as LWB? His crossing's not great with his right foot, so I don't think it should be effected too much by playing on the left. Or is Walks just too stupid to manage switching?

Dier Alderweireld Vertonghen
Trippier Winks Wanyama Walker

Ali Kane
And I think we should play pretty much the same team against Stoke on Sunday.

We should be beating these guys comfortably. Hopefully the team lifts after a decent performance against fulham

No ifs and buts strongest team available. The more we advance the more the players will believe in the competition. Game by game onwards and upwards.

Same team as vs Fulham but with lloris,Walker and Dembele in for Vorm,Trippier and Winks.

Harsh on trippier and winks but think walker and dembele would suit the bigger pitch. But wouldn't been too annoyed if either Trippier or Winks got to start as they're both playing very well recently!
