I agree that our strongest line up is the Modric/Sandro with Lennon/Bale on the wings but I am really concerned about the area infront of our back four where Rooney operates, can we trust Sandro to stay there on his own? Im not sure TBH, think Id rather have Livermore in there with him and sacrifice Azza:

Livermore Sandro
Bale VDV Modric
Ade

Sandro can be really good going forward as we saw last season on a few occassions and I would prefer giving him that Liscence rather than leaving him vs Rooney.
Also if you do play Sandro/Mod our fullbacks will not be given too much liscence to go forward, Sandro cannot contain Rooney and cover the full backs on his own.

I heard a random on Talksport yesterday predicting with absolute certainty that it would be a breakthrough game for Lennon and that he's going to tear Man U apart.

I want to believe!

Is Defoe fit?

I do admit that it was odd to not see him in the England squad the other night,... bumped by Frazier Campbell? I bet that could fire him up for Sunday's game if he is healthy

who cares tbh.. evans. jones, rio or whoever will have him for breakfast dinner and tea what ever way u want to put it.... hopefully ade and saha will keep united players busy

I think Defoe has scored a few against United, hasn'the?

Isn't the problem more that the refs, er, I mean our defence, can't keep a clean sheet againt them

I think that will be the United team with Wellbeck in for Hernandez.....he was playing in Miami the other night as well, long distance travel etc..

Valencia instead of Young probably though right? I'm pretty sure Valencia is not injured.

Harry Redknapp is positive on the chances of Rafa van der Vaart, Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker and Ledley King being fit to face United on Sunday.
Flying winger Gareth missed out on Wales’ friendly against Costa Rica on Wednesday after feeling tightness in his hamstring.

“We’ll wait to see how he is, but he should be okay,” reported Harry on Friday. “He hasn’t got a tear in his hamstring, just a little tightness. It shouldn’t be a problem.”

Rafa and Kyle also withdrew from international action in midweek after suffering ankle problems at Arsenal. Indeed, Kyle picked up his injury in training last Friday, managed to start at the Emirates, only to damage it again.

Ledley also felt his hamstring in the latter stages at Arsenal and came off with 10 minutes remaining.

“Rafa will train today and feels a lot better,” added Harry. “Kyle’s okay, he should be fit and Ledley’s not bad, hopefully he will come out to train tomorrow and we’ll see how he is.”

We do have a notable absentee from this huge clash though as Scott Parker is suspended after being sent off at Arsenal.

“It’s a blow for us, Scotty’s been in great form,” said Harry.
“But we’ve got Sandro and Jake Livermore and it’s a chance for them to step up to the plate and do the job.”

Have we not seen what playing without both wingers does to us enough times?

We are at our strongest when Lennon AND Bale play it really is that simple. If I had to choose I would start Lennon because he is MUCH harder to keep out of the game than Bale imo.

If Lennon had played last week it would not have been 5-2.

Now it's looking as though VdV is the only real injury concern, I'd like to see:

Friedel

Walker Kaboul King/Dawson BAE
Lennon Sandro Modric Bale
Kranjcar
Ade

We need to go 4-5-1 again, but I can't see Modric in the hole working all that well. In our current setup, I see Kranjcar as the ideal player to sit there.

I like this but we know we won't see it...Kranky in the hole that is. More likely, if he does start Niko it will be on the right.

I reckon Harry will play this side:

Friedel

Walker
Kaboul
King
Ekotto

Kranjcar
Sandro
Modric
Bale

VDV

Adebayor

I think that's the way he'll go, with the only change likely to be Lennon for Kranky on the right...if there is one.

I would play Livermore and Sandro, sandro must pick up Rooney in that area between the midfield and forwards, otherwise that would leave luka outnumbered by carrick and scholes.

team i would pick

............................................brad...................................

walker...................king.........................kaboul...............benny

.........................livermore.......sandro........luka................

.....azza.......................................................................bale

...............................................ade..........................................

I wouldn't be unhappy with that side either.

Surely after last week Azza has to play... Fergie has been on sky sports talking up how important the game is for them... It's really not a good sign, they badly need a win.

Shouldn't make much difference. They usually play like they badly need to win. That's why they've been so successful over the years.

Yea that's right. And I bet they badly wanted to beat City at OT and look what happened then.
