I thought we usually had one of these going by the time we were three games before a match. Anyway, here's my shout:
Gomes
Hutton Woodgate King Bale
Bentley Jenas Palacios Kranjcar
Defoe Crouch
Bench: Goalie, Dawson, Corluka, Huddlestone, Naughton, Keane, Pavlyuchenko
Reasoning for changes:
- With Lennon out, Bentley plays, which means pace is lost, so put Hutton (who linked well with Bentley v Everton) in place of Corluka (who had no understanding with Bentley v Scum) at right back.
- I've always liked Ekotto, but the amount of crosses being conceded from his side is alarming. Bale may not defend crosses any better, but it can't be any worse, and he at least offers a superior attacking threat. Ekotto's been off form.
- Kranjcar in because we win when we have creativity from both flanks, we lose by 3 goals when we have all of Jenas, Hudd and Palacios (or so this seasons evidence would suggest). The formula of Wideman right and playmaker on the left has brought us every single league point this season so we should bloody well stick to it. Hudd is on the worst form of the three centrals in my opinion.
- Defoe has to come in for one of the forwards, he's the only one that actually looks dangerous. Having just lost 4 of our last 7 and won only 2, I think the 'while we're winning why change things' argument no longer exists, so Keane I'm afraid should be sacrificed to see if Defoe and Crouch will bring us better results.
Thoughts?
