I thought we usually had one of these going by the time we were three games before a match. Anyway, here's my shout:

Gomes
Hutton Woodgate King Bale
Bentley Jenas Palacios Kranjcar
Defoe Crouch

Bench: Goalie, Dawson, Corluka, Huddlestone, Naughton, Keane, Pavlyuchenko

Reasoning for changes:

- With Lennon out, Bentley plays, which means pace is lost, so put Hutton (who linked well with Bentley v Everton) in place of Corluka (who had no understanding with Bentley v Scum) at right back.

- I've always liked Ekotto, but the amount of crosses being conceded from his side is alarming. Bale may not defend crosses any better, but it can't be any worse, and he at least offers a superior attacking threat. Ekotto's been off form.

- Kranjcar in because we win when we have creativity from both flanks, we lose by 3 goals when we have all of Jenas, Hudd and Palacios (or so this seasons evidence would suggest). The formula of Wideman right and playmaker on the left has brought us every single league point this season so we should bloody well stick to it. Hudd is on the worst form of the three centrals in my opinion.

- Defoe has to come in for one of the forwards, he's the only one that actually looks dangerous. Having just lost 4 of our last 7 and won only 2, I think the 'while we're winning why change things' argument no longer exists, so Keane I'm afraid should be sacrificed to see if Defoe and Crouch will bring us better results.

Thoughts?

I go with your team apart from keep BAE instead of Bale, I agree that he has been slightly off form but I'm still not sure I am ready for Bale at left back.

I think we may see Defoe up front with Keane, but I just think that if we are to give Bentley any hope of playing a half decent game we at least need him to have something to aim at in the middle so would like to see Crouch. Let's face it, the way the team set up against Arsenal, Bentley was destined to fail, he had nobody overlapping to create room and was far too isolated, he wasn't the worst player on the pitch and I saw enough on the Tuesday against Everton to hope that he can still offer something when he needs to be called upon.

Apart from that this is obviously an absolute MUST win game.

Agree with most, but as Spurs_Bear has also said, think I would keep BAE at LB to start with. Bale makes the bench instead of Naughton, as we can bring him on as a LM if we need to as well.

we could also line up as...

Gomes
Hutton Woodgate King BAE
Kranjcar Jenas Palacios Bale
Defoe Crouch

Kranjcar will drift in behind Crouch and Defoe (like what he and Modric does on the left) Hutton giving the width down the right and Bale down the left.

My team would be as below
--------Gomes
Hutton Woodgate King BAE
Bentley Jenas Palacios Kranjcar
--------Defoe Keane

I think, as Lennon is out we will need to play Bentley, he seemed to play well with Hutton and not with Corluka, so WTF!

I am giving Keane one more chance to prove he can still do it, IF, he plays in his favoured position, which he would if we play him with Defoe, and kranjcar on the left.

I don't know why but I have a feeling harry will come up with something totally different.....who knows after his ARSEnal formation and team.

Hopefully Sunderland at home is a lot more straightforward, and it will look similer to the team above - some obvious tinkerings could be Bale for Niko, Niko for Bentley etc, but I hope it is a 442 with Hutton given another chance (last) to show his worth in the EPL.

Gomes
Corluka King Woodgate BAE
Kranjcar Jenas Palacios Bale
Defoe Crouch

Cudicini, Hudd, Pavs, Keano, Hutton, Bentley, Dawson

I think this could be the first time this season we could start with our strongest back 5 - so I'd like to see that.

Could easily go with Bentley on the right Kranjcar left but I'd like to see Bale given a start.

Gomes
Corluka....Dawson....King....Ekotto
Bentley....Palacios....Kranjcar....Bale
Defoe....Crouch

Subs: Cudicini, Woodgate, Hutton, Jenas, Huddlestone, Pav, Keane

I'd like to see us try Kranjcar in the middle before Modric returns, and i think we can take advantage of a weakened Sunderland midfield. We need to start scoring more goals again too.

I would like to see the following team:

Gomes

Corluka King Woodgate BAE
Bentley Palacios Jenas Kranjcar
Crouch Defoe

Sub: Cudicini, Dawson, Huddlestone, Keane, Pavluychenko, Hutton, Bale

I expect Redknapp to play Keane instead of Crouch and possibly to accomodate Huddlestone at the expense of Bentley.

Big game for us. We need to get back to winning ways at the Lane.

woohoo im going to my first match of the season :D

I'll go with:

Gomes
Hutton Woodgate King Assou-Ekotto
Bentley Jenas Palacios Bale
Defoe Crouch

Bench: Cudicini, Dawson, Corluka, Huddlestone, Naughton, Keane, Pavlyuchenko

I think maybe starting Bale at LB due to the ACN starting soon and BAE will be leaving - so Bale needs some games under his belt.

Cana and K Jones suspended and Cattermole injured, we must and should win this easily with virtually any line up.
